DAYS: February Discussion Thread

Someone earlier mentioned Caroline as a possible fly in the ointment in regards to Will's homosexuality. That would actually make sense, given her staunch Catholicism. And Peggy McCay could certainly play a woman conflicted by her fierce love of her great grandson and her church. I would like to see the journey of a family member forced to confront their prejudices and grapple with a religion that has always been their salvation but is so clearly wrong here. But these writers, and this soap environment—and perhaps this society—are incapable of supporting that kind of depth.

In all honestly...I don't like Daniel, but I really liked him today and wouldn't mind him and Nicole.

Last week I said Hope Logan on B&B was the most insufferable character on daytime but Im torn between her and Sami. Go Marlena for calling Sami out on her BS. Sami needs to get slapped by someone already

I wonder whats up w/ Peggy. Caroline is def missing from this mar/sami/will story, as she played the role to sami that mar is playing with will.

home girl is insane in the membrane, and i love it! the scenes with marlena were great. i love these two together.

Sonny should say "Will, if you're not sure you're gay I can always take you for a test drive". And whatever happened to Chad? This is who Will should be lusting after, not Kris Kristofferson's son, and whatever happened to T?

I dont want will lusting after Chad at all. I do however want him to turn to his best friend and Chad to be there and support him.

Didn't Peggy McKay freak out over the Maggie/Victor pairing because she wanted it to be Victor/Caroline? Maybe her role has been diminished...

They seem to not want Will to spend time with anyone in his age group who isn't gay. It's strange writing. I guess since he's gay no one else is allowed to be around him. It's the same for Sonny - he was supposed to be friends with Melanie and instead he has to be an endless PSA for Will.

Yes, it would certainly do them better to appeal to the not-so-gay-friendly viewers if the characters were surrounded by other young [and straight] characters instead of being in their own story island.

It would also help shore up the teen scene. If Will and Abby bond over having bad parents, how will he react when he learns she wants to break up his aunt's marriage? Will he help her? Will he stay quiet?

Days is the oddest show with teens and the 20 somethings. They really haven't had a strength in that area for years not due to lack of casting but lack of commitment to the characters and story. Making Sonny more than Wills sounding board and having him as more than just the random well adjusted gay man for Will makea him a more interesting character. Chad should also be developed more.

Higley's teens were awful but she had a much more interconnected teen scene. MarDar seem to have dismantled it for no apparent reason.

Is Melanie a "teen" though? She's a nursing student, was married to Phillip, and has been around on this show for 4 long years now. She's like the Amber Moore of DAYS.
