December 11, 201114 yr Member Just recently Marcy Rylan was pregnant IRL but not on the show. They always had her carrying this RIDICULOUSLY big purse or sitting down. Sometimes they didn't even try to hide it and it had me LMAO.
December 11, 201114 yr Member When Jennifer Gareis was pregnant on B&B last year, they found a creative way to deal with it. Her character, Donna just got fat! Donna had just gotten a divorce and ate to deal with it. Pam would make fun of her putting on pounds and would tease her with her lemnon bars. No need to hide the pregnancy when you acknowledge onscreen that the character is getting chunkier by the week....lol
December 11, 201114 yr Member Lisa Brown, GL and ATWT - Neither pregnancy was written in, I believe. Actually, I think GL did write in her pregnancy, since Quint and Nola's son, Anthony, was played by her real-life son as a newborn.
December 11, 201114 yr Member Susan was pregnant during Erica's abortion storyline and miscarried about 4 months in. She wrote in her book about people confusing her with Erica and saying things to her about having an abortion when she was grieving the loss of a baby she wanted. Some soap fans just take it too damn far, you know? I can't remember what they did with Erica when she went on maternity leave with Andreas. Erica left town to try her luck in Hollywood. Unfortunately, when she returned to Pine Valley, they explained how she'd ended up at a fat farm.
December 11, 201114 yr Member Ellen Dolan, ATWT - Pregnant in real life, not on the show. Character just left town for a while, I think. I wish they had written it in just to see Tom and Margo deal with a mid-life pregnancy.
December 11, 201114 yr Member Mary Stuart, Search for Tomorrow - I think one of her pregnancies was written in, which was a soap first - footage of her in the hospital holding her real son was used on the show. That's why she was devastated when Frank and Doris Hursley decided a few years later to kill off Jo's son, Duncan Eric, since he was created specifically to incorporate her RL pregnancy into SEARCH.
December 11, 201114 yr Member Alicia Minshew was pregnant in real life in 2009, AMC didn't write it in, but you could totally tell in most scenes that AM was prego, the show did nothing to hide it LOL Edited December 11, 201114 yr by dragonflies
December 11, 201114 yr Member Alicia Minshew was pregnant in real life in 2009, AMC didn't write it in, but you could totally tell in most scenes that AM was prego, the show did nothing to hide it LOL Wasn't Kendall hiding in the secret room at her house while a look-alike was in prison for her?
December 11, 201114 yr Member Hunter Tylo was indeed pregnant in real life when Taylor gave birth to Thomas, I believe that was the baby who developed eye cancer after shortly after birth there in early 1998. The other daughter of the Melrose Place scandal was born in late 1996 if I recall right GL--Crystal Chappell's pregnancy in 2003 was written into the show. Her maternity leave was explained by saying Olivia fled town after Lizzie was terrorizing her (remember that awful Crystal Hunt ripping off the baby doll's head and talking to it?) and tried to cause a miscarriage by causing Olivia to fall down the Beacon hotel lobby staircase by tearing up the carpet to cause Olivia to trip. Of course when she came back she told everyone that Emma was dead when in fact she had Emma hiding with her brother. Y&R - I can't remember but I think they had a pregnancy story for Lauren when Tracey Bregman Recht was pregnant, which was cut short when Tracey miscarried. In fact I remember an interview Bregman gave several years ago saying that the show ended up writing the miscarriage in for Lauren as well, which of course played out in May 1990. It sounded and must have been very surreal. Edited December 11, 201114 yr by soapfan770
December 12, 201114 yr Member Passions' Lindsay Hartley was pregnant with daughter Isabella Justice around the time her character Theresa was pregnant with Ethan's baby, Sarah, which she miscarried after a fight with Gwen. Rather than writing her off the show in 2004 as she was in a pivotal story at the time, she was replaced with Priscilla Garita (Gabi, Sunset Beach.) In an interesting move, her husband Justin (Fox) was put on paternal leave the same time as Lindsay. He was recast with Nick Stabile (also of Sunset Beach.) I actually might be wrong about the storyline. She was pregnant with Jane (originally called Ashley) at some point but i am not sure if it was before or after the Hartley's were on maternity leave. December 12, 201114 yr Member Y&R - Amelia Heinle, pregnant, written in (she was in a coma for months after giving birth - the infamous pebble falling on her head); she was pregnant again a few years later, and this wasn't written in. Y&R - I can't remember but I think they had a pregnancy story for Lauren when Tracey Bregman Recht was pregnant, which was cut short when Tracey miscarried. Is it anything like Pale Force when Conan O' Brien gets put into a coma when a beach ball bounced off his head? I missed the Clear Springs storyline but heard a lot of boring and bizarre crap happened during it (including CBS implementing a special storyline only opening credits...the heck?)
December 12, 201114 yr Member Y&R - the infamous pebble falling on her head I thought it was established it was a croissant. Or maybe that's how I dealt with that particular plot point.
December 12, 201114 yr Member Also on Passions, Liza Huber (daughter of Susan Lucci) was pregnant with her first child in 2006. I believe this was during the Vendetta storyline in Rome, which simply had Gwen not featured as much and when she was, the pregnancy was covered up. Huber was pregnant with her second child around the time the show was ending on DirecTV so it wasn't written in.
