Great writers, bad stories?

I'm going take sh*t for this, but Agnes Nixon and Lorraine Broderick for the Project Orpheus stroyline on AMC. Ridiculous.

Whether some of us defend certain aspects of it or not, I doubt you'll take [!@#$%^&*] for that--a LOT of people at least partially agree.

I think it's a fair point yr brought up that sometimes classic stories are credited unfairly to the HW when a coHW or another writer might actually deserve the credit--not just the blame of a bad story.

It's more that I was/am expecting people to jump to its defense simply because of who wrote it. Like AN and LB can't write sh*t storylines, because they're AMC royalty. Fact is, they can and IMO, they did. They ruined David for me and that was a hard thing to do, seeing as I loved him for over 13 years.

Yeah, Karen was Cindy's short-lived "bad" twin.

Sounds like such a mistake, though it also sounds like she didn't do much...

I get that though we personally disagree there--I liked David under their writing more than I had in quite a while--my issues were with other aspects of the story.

^I just saw him with no heart, especially when LB was hinting that he put Erica in the panic room and that he was basically drugging Dixie and holding her hostage. Two things which were completely OOC.

THIS.

And even though I completely understand WHY they went this way (series is ending, undo all the absurd, damaging [!@#$%^&*] that insulted fans in recent years etc.) it was possibly the most absurd way to go about it.

how about claire labine and madame mya on GH!

Claire is a very good writer but a lot of her stories were all over the place, although I guess that can be blamed on network interference. Some that couldn't, and which even she derided later on, would be things like Tom's tumor on Ryan's Hope.

^That aside, LB made Erica and Dixie neighbors in Oakhaven, all but said "Oh look how shiny, David put Erica in that panic room, and bankrolled Jane" and then NOTHING. Absolutely nothing. One scene where Erica accused David of maybe doing it, stabbed him, he's laying there bleeding pleading for her not to be arrested and then....she just left it. Gaping holes. And we never did learn why Dixie was so afraid of David or what he actually did to her. Ugh. That whole thing pissed me off beyond belief.

Ignorant Beeby time! What was this Tom's tumor storyline about and why was it so dreadful? (also when?)

Tom Desmond, probably one of the worst conceived characters in RH's first years, began to become angry and violent and paranoid. He believed his wife Faith was still in love with her ex, Pat. He began seeing visions of HIS dead ex, Teresa ("Terry" as he called her). Alexandra Neil, in a wandering Irish brogue, asked "Tommy" to kill Faith. He sabotaged the railings on the second floor, which led to hilarious scenes of Faith dangling. He finally took her up to a remote wooded area (nice location shots though) and left her to die in some underground cellar, leading to day after day after day after day of Faith going: "TOM? DADDY!!! PAT?? DADDY!!!!"

This led to Tom's tumor being operated on, which led to blindness, and then he did not know his blindness counselor was the long lost, American-accented twin of his old love Teresa. This was cut short and within a few months Tom fell off a kitchen stool and died in the hospital via negligence.

On-screen, though, it wasn't as bad as it sounds.

It was worse.

He probably forced her to watch this:
