The only thing more pathetic than creating this stuff, is trolling the internet looking for this stuff. If the whole thing is over and done with, what is there left to keep going on and on about other than basking in Prospect Park's failure?

Canada is a lot less the cost saving place to film that it once was--due to all the things DaytimeFan mentioned but I do know, havign some connections to the industry in BC that it is still overall cheaper--there also are tax benefits, et, Canada gives to try to court these productions. That's why so many shows film in BC and claim it's Washington State--they look the same and it IS still slightly cheaper (there's some debate about giving the breaks to US productions of course). I don't know about the work visas, but so many shows (like Smallville) have filmed full time in BC with largely actors who remain American citizens that I don't think it's quite that big of a problem.

Of course some soaps that were written in the US were filmed in Toronto--I believe actors travelled for those (none of these were hits, the most notorious being Strange Paradise).

Same here. People were all upset about the shot of Josh Duhamel in Confusion, assuming we were all gypped out of some awesome Leo/Greenlee ending, but I had feared that the flash forward was Leo watching Rylee from a distance and then going off and living his life while they live happily ever after. I always assumed Gillian was dead because her heart was transplanted into someone else.

I really don't buy that the ending would have been VASTLY different and I would be shocked if more than one or two scenes was even filmed--so nothing really to release on DVD. I'm not even sure a final script was done though no doubt a story outline was.

There was a final script. Addie Walsh posted the cover page on Facebook. Then the Prospect Park news broke and it was rewritten.

Ah I thought maybe the scripts up to that point weren't finalized just the final scene. Addie is a tease--she should post the whole thing ANd I take back what I said--I guess a few more bits were filmed, but I still don't think anything close to the planned finale was.

There's no way to get around union issues AFAIK. The number one rule of being in the union is that you cannot appear in non-union productions. So any actor that did it would never be able to get cast in anything else ever again.

In Nelson's new Soap Uncensored, he says two other major parties are trying to get one or both of these soaps and the Variety article was a way to scare them off. He doesn't know if PP will be difficult and hold onto the rights just to spite them.

wow, this is so asking for the obvious reply.

So PP couldn't find enough investors but they are trying to scare off people who are willing to buy the rights from them? Couldn't those people also be considered potential investors? Forget it, why am I even trying to make sense of this?

Yes! I pay for it, but only because it's cheap. There is always at least one thing worth reading in it. The Prospect Park stuff was interesting. I do believe that there are people out there, but Prospect has an idea of how they want to do things which is why people aren't commiting their money. Somebody has to be willing to negotiate and Prospect Park clearly isn't willing to do that. Whatever offers they were getting they should've taken. If Bravo truly ever offered them anything then do whatever Bravo says. If anybody wanted to do more of a telenovella format, do it. They should've done whatever it took to get these shows on the air, then you can revisit things when your project is successful. Now they look like idiots and none of these actors will work with them.
