Without her kids, Alexis would most likely already been off the show. This has nothing to do with her being a mother but rather the ageism thats going on at ABCD, GH in particular. She's played by an over 45 actress so her days were limited with or without kids.

And IDA that soaps need exactly one kid. Children are the future of soaps and its how family legacies continue on.

I think personally it's the SORASing that is causing the problems. True - not every female character needs to have a child and often it ends the stories for her completely - but if you look at British soaps where children are allowed to age naturally, there is not the need for so many and stories are found that do not involve the cliche "child in mortal danger from terrorists/disease/unknown father". It's limited imagination along with not keeping everyone moving forward at the same rate.

I finally watched an eepisode on my DVR. It's strange for me to be enjoying Carly but Shawn tames her like whoa.... I didn't really pay attention to the rest because it was bunch of Bensonhurst exposition like usual.
