Listen, I am the worst at knowing or telling people's ages and I always think people that played teens on soaps are younger than they are lol.  Julia just seemed a lot older than Brenda even though they were probably only 5 or 6 years apart on the show.  CC just always had those power suits and owned multiple businesses and was always chiding Brenda so she seemed about 40 in 1993 when she was probably only like 23.

ETA-VM and CC are less than a year apart in age so Idek.  CC just read so much older and VM seems much younger.  Not even in looks-just in characterization.

I have my doubts Haskell would work for FV again given what we've heard about her final days at OLTL and her personal feelings about it, as well as those of her husband who refused to return when asked because of that same issue.

I don't think recasting Julia is the worst idea in the world. I would definitely not put Drew with Carly at all though. That's just a Jason retread for her.

I think Monty had her camped up in tight bun hair and being very haughty when CC first started, didn't she? That'll do it.

I think you would absolutely test her with Sonny.  Just saying.  It sort of writes itself.  I don't know why Julia seemed so old.  It has to be her styling and her exasperation of anything fun.  Also, I think her being Brenda's guardian immediately made me think she was much older.

A job's a job.  She doesn't need the money I am sure, but I could see her accepting a new part that had a solid history and idea.

I don't think I would like her and Drew, but it might be fun to see Carly in a triangle with Brenda's sister.  Julia's such a blank slate.  Never married, no kids, we know nothing about her and why Brenda seems to not invite her to any of her million weddings even though they made up 25 years ago.

I don't even think about whoever RH is playing these days, but I guess it's possible.  I still think the real drama would be her and Sonny.  It just has so many more soapy aspects.

ETA-I actually thought Julia/Jax would be a potential pairing if Ingo wasn't Ingo.  She always seem to have a crush on him.  And you know Brenda was so jealous of Julia, but you have to assume Julia was also a little jealous of Brenda as well.

What's one more?  I ETA my post on saying Jax/Julia was probably my ideal.  I could see Sonny wanting to know why Brenda was so jealous of Julia and Julia wanting to know what's so awesome about Sonny.  And, you know, Sonny could be sleeping with her just because she reminded him of Brenda or whatever.

To me, Sonny has been so tarnished over the years with random women and impregnating them something based in history wouldn't bother me.

Oh, yes, I've seen that. Oy.

Howarth is playing Dr. Austin Gatlin-Holt, Jimmy Lee's annoying son. I think fans would've warmed to Howarth as a Q 9 years ago, but he showed up about 8 years and 2 other roles too late. The pairing with Maxie squicks me out as he still seems too young for her. Howarth had a viable place on GH once but it's long, long gone IMO.

A lot of her seeming old might be the pairing with Tony/Bill.  There is just something naive and fresher about Vanessa that made her seem so much younger.  Maybe it's the fact VM was so green.  CC is clearly the better actress, but she does lack a little star power and charisma.  And of course CC is beautiful but she's not Vanessa Marcil 90's stunning.  Idk, it's weird they killed off Harlan before Brenda even aired, but I assume they were just looking to build a teen scene and didn't think Brenda would matter much in the long run.

    • I don't expect Lois to be the same person she was 25 years ago, but she's definitely lost a lot of what made Lois unique.  It's clear the show doesn't know how to write for her, and the sole purpose of Lois is to hide this Gio secret.  It's a shame she doesn't interact with more of the canvas.  It's a waste of Rena's talents. I like Brook Kerr most of the time.  She can be hit or miss.  I totally get what you are saying about her line readings too.  I honestly think the character really suffers being stuck in the Curtis pairing.  She's much better than Tanisha Harper's Jordan lol.
    • Friday and yesterday's episode is what daytime television should be. The other shows airing could take a page from yesterday's show.  I loved the rage, hurt and anger Nicole unleashed on Ted.  Daphnee should be up for an Emmy nom for these scenes.  It broke my heart to see how Dana had locked Eva out.  I do feel sorry for Eva.    I am still bumfuzzled as to why Leslie/Dana went to the DuPree's and asked them to accept Kat UNLESS Eva is really Kat's twin (and really Nicole and Ted's daughter that maybe they though they lost or an embryo Dana/Leslie stole??) I loved how Anita and Vernon both shot her down.    Ohhh and let me just say Friday and yesterday was the MOST fire I have seen Martin have since the show started.  Maybe Brandon Clayborn is coming into his own with the role finally.
    • You've been seeing him all along. You just didn't know it was him, I guess.

    • Where to for Dana? She's pissed off the Duprees (most of the cast), alienated her daughter and will she be welcomed by the Have Nots at the diner? Maybe she can befriend Ashley and Derek and liven up their story.
    • Melissa Ordway announced she was moved to recurring back in November but is still credited with the contract cast members.
    • I think of Evan as a smarmy bast*rd. Maybe you'll like that description. You certainly have him pegged correctly since he is just a soldier following "Admiral" Iris's marching orders.
    • So far the only interest I've seen from Evan to Amanda has been listening to Iris's orders to go and seduce her.  So far he hasn't been successful... but who knows. Amanda is unbearable at times. Entitled, spoiled... idiotic. Iris... so blatantly manipulating her and Amanda takes the bait. But I guess... when she gets in trouble... she'll have a chance to learn. That's what makes these shows so interesting.    Oh, no, don't worry. You haven't ruined a thing. Evan has not been on my radar that much... he was not one of the characters I was caring particularly... so nothing much has been changed for me. I don't think he has the stuff to ruin Rachel's life. He's just a pretty guy that can follow orders. Iris on the other hand... is dangerous.

P.S Maybe Evan will surprise me. Who knows.
    • The show has gone back to 10/10 entertainment! I'm glad that I was right in feeling that what were experiencing were growing pains. I'm sure they are not over yet, but I'll know that we always comeback to quality drama. I think it's going to be a hell of ride (in a good way) from this moment on. BTG has that magic that not a lot of shows have. I'll update more... when I'm done catching up.
    • So very glad to hear this. Yesterday I suddenly thought; OMG, what about spoilers, have I just  ruined things for Maxim in getting carried away with interest in Evan, who was so well-written & well-acted. BTW, your fan review of this episode was a sight for eyes that had not seen one of these for a little bit too long, LOL!!!  Mitch is also fascinating to me but in his case it's because he was all in with Janice & her nefarious plan & then he did this turnabout we've mentioned & he basically got off scot-free.
