Would it have been too much for Agnes Nixon and Wisner Washam to write these final weeks instead? Would it?

Agnes apparentlyhas some say. I don't think Wisner had any desire to return, and he has zero connection to basically anyone on the canvas anyway...

One Life to Live Tribute Thread

I was a child in the 80s and early 90s and a teen in the 90s/early 00s so my choices would be different:
To Me:
Tina Lord (Andrea Evans and Karen Witter) - I always saw her as someone that was her own worst enemy that confused wealth/power for love and acceptance thus chasing away any chances of love (Cord).
Dorian Lord (Elaine Princi and Robin Strasser) - Princi was the first Dorian I remember and I eventually came around to accepting Strasser. Seeing Strasser in clips from the 80s and in tv movies made me realize that she was capable of not chewing the scene and could play subtle beats.
Blair Daimler (Mia Korf & Kassie) - I enjoyed both versions of the character though the switching of ethnicity was certainly a choice in the early 90s. Eventually she became the only reason I was interested in checking out the brief Hulu revival in the early 2010s.
Bo & Nora - I liked them better together then apart. They just seemed to bring the best out of one another.
I liked other characters, but the above characters are who I always enjoyed and considered my go to characters (I always would tune back in whenever AE would return as Tina for her guest stints).

Primetime Soaps

Blood & Oil was a bit of a mess. It was originally developed for ABC, then sent off to USA Network, then brought back to ABC as they saw the success of Empire and need a replacement for Revenge (you can even see the similarity in the promotional shots). For a short-lived show there were a lot of retooling going on, even bringing in the ex wife with a vengeance. It was pretty dire, but I guess not insufferable with only 10 episodes. It ends tying things up from memory (despite it originally having a 13 episode order but three being scrapped).

From memory the pilot felt pretty silly. They were going out there to start a laundromat, but then they have a car wreck and decide to get into the oil business. Because it would be far too straight-forward to just have the lead characters interested in the oil business to begin with.

One Life to Live Tribute Thread

She had been a major star on Another World, and OLTL scooped her up quickly after she left that show, in hopes of luring viewers over to OLTL.
There was a brouhaha at the time, because the network immediately started her off at a salary that was almost twice as high as the other leads.
I think we all have those fantasies! Along with daydreaming about coffee klatches with soap characters, I always wanted to hang out with Mary and Rhoda in Mary Richards' gorgeous first apartment on the Mary Tyler Moore Show.

But the question is if Sony and CBS are willing to take chances on an unproven (in daytime) HW? I am not going to pretend I like Jamey or think he’s ever displayed a lick of talent in anything he’s written, but what are the chances he gets a top job like this from conservative network and studio execs?

I definitely do like the idea and feel that this has been in the works for a while. From the moment JG's BFF left to be fair. And like I said the other day...it's not the first HW/EP at that show that was out the door once they lost their EP title first.

^ I didn't want to put that out there in the universe, but since you just posted, yeah that was my first thought when the news broke that it might be Jamey, since Jamey always wanted to write for Y&R. I didn't think of a Ron/Jamey combo, though.

Thank you for responding.
I am always curious about the characters whom other viewers fee emotionally attached to the most.
Often I agree, and occasionally their choices boggle my mind, LOL.
I cared about all the original characters, but just mentioned the ones who meant the most to me.
The romance between Jenny Wolek and Timmy Siegal was sweet and memorable.
Not to be crass, but actor Tom Berenger as Tim was sex on a stick, LOL. (Kathy Glass echoed the same sentiments.)
Kathryn Breech was fine as Karen in the character's shallow, selfish early days, but Judith Light fleshed Karen out into a three-dimensional woman and made the role her own. She may have been the best recast in daytime history.

Y&R: Josh Griffith steps down as head writer

Not too long ago, Jamey went back to Daytime Confidential for an extensive catch up podcast. He mentioned two things that made me feel as if he wouldn't be at BTG long term. Not because they don't want him but in case another, bigger opportunity came forward. He mentioned during BTG breaks that they allowed him to go back and write breakdowns for Days and the other thing he mentioned is that he was working on a project with Ron Calivati.
Could the project they were working on be a story bible for Y&R? It's clear something has been going on for a while so it wouldn't surprise me if they have been meeting with people in anticipation of this.

Poor Sally maybe getting caught in the crossfire. She’s been at the show since the Bell era and stayed there, and is one of the very best directors in daytime.
I’d like to see what she can do with a competent writer, but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised if they throw the baby out with the bath water while they’re at it.
