Days of Our Lives chief Ken Corday promised he'd be bringing romance back to the NBC soap — and he's bringing sexy back, too! An NBC rep tells TV Guide Magazine that Patrick Muldoon (the original Austin Reed) and Christie Clark (Carrie Brady) will return to the show in late September. They start shooting next week.

Clark joined Days as a teen back in 1986 and has played the role on and off since then, winning two Daytime Emmy nominations. Her last appearance was in 2010 when Carrie returned to Salem during the death watch for Alice Horton. Muldoon joined Days in 1992 and stayed until '95, then moved on to a run on Melrose Place as baddie Richard Hart and films such as the Oscar-nominated sci-fi hit Starship Troopers.

Look for other former Days faves, including Deidre Hall (Marlena), Drake Hogestyn (John) and Matthew Ashford (Jack), to also rejoin the soap this summer.

I hope they are heavily involved in Will's coming out story since Austin thought he was his father once upon a time and they raised him for a few years.

I guess that stuff about Christie and Patrick eating in the NBC cafeteria was where this all started.

How was he as Austin? I remember him from Melrose...I mostly remember him being very whispery, like Michael Damian.

He could act....Austen Peck could not (although he got much better in recent years since leaving Days). Muldoon was infintitely better as Austin and he had great chemistry with Lisa Rinna's Billie and Kate. They made for a very dynamic and believable family. Im surprised they have gone back to him bc he's aged quite a bit and not really hunk material anymore. I havent seen him do anythign in ages, so I hope he's still good.

LOL about Carrie.

Austin Peck is a horrible actor and played Austin like a dumbass. I think you will enjoy him much more with Muldoon in the role.

I hope Carrie is pregnant or had a baby. They should have had her pregnant last year when CC returned and was preggers in real life.

I too hate St. Carrie the Slut although her recent appearances haven't been so bad and it was nice to see Sami and her have an actual sisterly relationship for a change.

I think I recall in 2006 or so Clark stated she would prefer working with Muldoon again rather than work with Peck. Interesting. Heh I remember his role on Melrose too, loved it towards the end. Muldoon's Austin was pretty heroic and had some depth whereas Peck's Austin for the most part was obliviously stupid. Oh but Peck is super hot and that made up for it all, especially in the horrendous Garden of Eden ^_^

WOW, very surprised they're bringing back Patrick Muldoon instead of Austin Peck. Yes, Muldoon is a better actor, but Peck is more identified in the role I believe. I hope he doesn't look all rough 'n weathered a la Jack Wagner.

I'm excited to see what they do with them, honestly. Maybe it'll be a mess, but I hope they have a fun plan for the two of them. Seeing Muldoon as Austin again will be very nice.

I love Carrie Glad she is coming back and I am shocked Muldoon is coming back. I just hope they get a good story. I just hope that Carrie coming on will mean seeing less of Melanie who by the way I am enjoying a bit more lately then I care to admit

Would this qualify you as a hater? You called me that when I expressed how I dislike Melanie. Is their a double standard here?
