I don't really see why you need Kendall at this point. Her story has reached a happy ending, and without Erica around, a vital part of her characterization is gone.

I'd rather rest Kendall.

If they did keep her around, then I'd recast Trey, bring Mark in, and perhaps have some members of the Hart family as well.

I don't consider myself a big enough AMC fan to give suggestions on who can play Kendall. I've seen lots of Alicia Minshew, but never SMG so I don't know who they should look at. Both of those actresses are so different they could really look anywhere. I just hope the next actress has more of the spark SMG has. Minshew comes off a little dull and too soft for me. I would look in primetime and in the world of soaps though. I consider it a big enough role that it at least has to be a name actress at this point.

AM released a message after these interviews, where she seemed a little more open than time to "move on." She said there's hope for her to continue if she is approached and they can come to terms. Going by her other interviews she obviously wants outs to do other projects. It could be she was trying to give fans that are unhappy about her decision a little hope or it could be she was backtracking a little. Time shall tell.

I'd like her to stay if she wants to as I do enjoy her in the role. It's hard to break out of the big couple-hold once you get into it on a soap but I do think this character can even with the same actress in the role.

I don't think Kendall is essential to the show. PArt of the issue with her is the same with Greenlee. Both characters IMO are burnt out on story and need a rest. I know people like the Bianca recast but I would still get Eden Reigel back. I don't have an interest in Zach on the show he is to overpowering and overbearing a character and another one who needs a rest. Ryan as we have seen actually probably fits more in with Broderick writing. Greenlee can go too. I think if Lucci doesn't sign it doesn't matter. Cara can in essence fill the role IMO they have had Kendall fill on this show the past so many years with AM in the role and LH is a far better actress.

I think the difference between Cara and Kendall is Kendall at her best as a character had a lot of insecurity, bitterness, fueling her, self-destructiveness, and we watched as she tried to learn from that.

A character can't stay that way forever, but the show also can't do a lot with who Kendall is now - which is one of the reasons so many of her stories have been about being victimized, or about the men in her life.

There was a time I could have never imagined her outside the Erica's daughter story and that whole push and pull was a brilliant story IMO from 1993-1995, and in 2002-2004/5. Erica and Kendall made up and Kendall grew up. I enjoyed non-Kerica Kendall but I got burned out with Zach/Kendall. They were great in the beginning, fun and sexy. While I do think they still have chemistry, the pairing has become crippling for both characters and AMC 2.0 should IMO break from that especially if the circumstances fall into place. For Kendall, I'd age the kids and send them to boarding school and have Kendall turn back into more of an anti-heroine.

I do wonder if Prospect Park is open to doing project outs. I'm not sure considering the reports about Lucci. No character should be front-burner for more than 3-4 months a year in a perfectly balanced world and if they wrote with that in mind it would be easy to do project outs and viewers wouldn't get that burned out on any character.

ETA: TeamEric, I can't imagine her not doing it no matter what reports are saying because of how outspoken she's been about AMC living on, but...

If Erica Slezak had turned down PP and chosen to retire Viki Lord, I wouldn't have been surprised AT ALL :-)

But I don't believe for one second Lucci is ready to let go of Erica Kane. She's far too attached to Erica and AMC. She'll cave and do PP. Then she'll smartly spin the PR publicity her way insisting she was ready to walk but came back for the good of the future of her beloved AMC and the other actors. If there is one thing LaLucci is good at is, is maintaining PR image.
