I watched OLTL religiously from 1968 to 1983. I find it amusing (well, baffling, really) that complaints about the writing would arise "en masse" about Gordon Russell. From 1968-72, with Agnes Nixon a

  • IIRC Van Devere once said she only did OLTL to make money for her downtown theater company or something. She has a very colorful history both as Mrs. George C. Scott (who usually insisted on her being

This is my thought too. In that 1976 dissertation that was archived online about how a soap is written which covers OLTL at the time (and includes a script) either Sam Hall or Gordon Russell actually

On the same page they mention Mark and Julie's sexual incompatibility storyline is an ad for an "Exciting Electric VIBRATOR". ;)

Thanks for sharing that article! I'm obsessed with the first decade of OLTL.

I didn't realize Marcus Polk was still around in 1973. Does anyone know how long he was on the show?

He was off and on until he was killed off by Tracy James around 1985.

I had not known that Marilyn Chris (who I LOVED on All My Children and I adored on One Life to Live) had been married to the late Ric Mancini prior to her marriage to Lee Wallace.

Thanks! I thought he was just around for the first Viki/Niki story and then returned in 1985.

I wish we saw some of his AMC stuff too.

I think they recast Polk when he returned, didn't they?

I wish Wanda could come back.

The OLTL book says they did.

Was it Marilyn's choice to leave as Wanda in 1994 or did they just drop her? I miss Wanda too.

I think she wanted to go.

No, it's Niki Flacks as Karen.

Yes, they were married during the late 60s/early 70s. I believe they divorced in 1973 or early 1974 after Ric played one of the Redstone Prison inmates on Edge of Night when Vic Lamont went undercover to bust a heroin ring.
