Besides, Erica Kane would admonish us all for giving her only one day.  "I'm Erica Kane!  I'm worth celebrating for at least a week!"

SOD May 20 2014

Dixie's infamous 2007 death by poisoned pancakes scripted by Head Writer Megan McTavish, went down in soap history as one of daytime’s biggest blunders (and was reversed with the
character’s eventual resurrection).McClain traces her firing back to a tense phone call she had with McTavish.
“I really didn’t think that one small, simple faux pas would have such a huge effect,” she muses. “I guess I just miscalculated how people were feeling on that set at that time. I think they were feeling very sensitive and under a lot of pressure.” The conversation in question,
McClain recalls, occurred after Tad buried evil Dr. Greg Madden alive, which led to his
demise. “I basically asked her if she could write a scene where Dixie and Tad could sit down with the boys [JR and Jamie] and say, ‘What Dad did was wrong. He might not be going to jail, but we do not morally condone what he did.’ They kept writing these scenes where I told Tad, ‘It is okay you captured this guy alive and tortured him for two weeks because you saved
our baby.’ I caught her on a bad day and she thought that I was saying she was a bad writer. Maybe I didn’t phrase it right. I wasn’t attacking. It was not a scream fest, it was a very civil conversation. People like to overdramatize what that was. I had great respect for Megan and what she had written up to that point. We just got off on the wrong foot on that phone call.”
That said, McClain chuckles, “The pancakes they killed me with were absolutely
delicious. I had never had peanut butter and banana pancakes and I truly enjoyed them.
Who knew?”
The actress hasn’t spoken to McTavish since Dixie “died,” but harbors no hard feelings
toward her. “I wish her well, I really do,” McClain says. “She did what she thought she
needed to do. I can’t hold on to it or it would make me a bitter person. But it was not
pleasant at all. It did feel like a betrayal.”

Sydney Penny (Julia) Announces Husband Robert Powers's Death on December 31, 2024 at the age of 59, one day shy of his 60th birthday.

https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/soap-alum-sydney-penny-announces-husband-robert-powerss-death/

In her poignant post on Facebook, Penny wrote, “I’m heartbroken to have to share the news that my husband of 29 years, Robert L Powers, passed away early in the morning on New Year’s Eve. He hadn’t widely shared that he had been fighting cancer for several months, so I know this will be a surprise to many. He loved seeing all of your activities here on FB and I know he would want you to speed through your sadness and shock and continue to celebrate life as he always did.”

I'm sure we all send our deepest condolences to Penny, and all who loved Powers.

Not sure if these have been posted here, and I hope it’s safe to share them, but two original broadcasts from 1970 are on YT. I’m pretty sure we’ve never had any full episodes of AMC on ABC from the 70s at all - just stuff from Daytime to Remember, SoapNet marathons, and Agnes’s website.

    • I’ve been watching Knots and FC rather compulsively for a while now. Currently in fall 1983 with both. I had Dallas in there, too, but I am rather shocked at how stale that show gets after Jock’s death. Meanwhile, I can spend hours in the vineyards and in the cul-de-sac.
    • What will actually change though? Does this mean the sets will be different too? Or how exactly is this gonna look like to the viewers?
    • I'm not sure Passions is the model to emulate here.
    • Passions had Chad sleeping with his cousin nephew Vincent, ironically played by Daphne Duplaix (disguised as Valerie)

    • Same tbh. His brother got all the attention as he got older and hotter but Eric I like best. I need to get back to this show.
    • *watching season 5* Me: “I wish they did more with Eric, he’s so cute and sweet.” *Eric slaps the piss out of Diana* Me: “Godddddd, I love Eric!!!!”

    • I do agree that I wish there was more gay representation in terms of singles. I also had hoped we'd get a Black couple since it was a Black soap and I don't know that we've ever seen that on a US soap.  With that said, it's still early days so I can imagine we'll get that at some point. I am impressed they launched with as much LGBT representation considering how US soaps can be.
