Someone has been uploading every SNL episode onto the Internet Archives. 

 

This one has, at about 23 minutes, Susan Lucci's bit in a Night of 1,000 Stars event that was "attended" by Billy Crystal's Fernando Lamas.

This is Susan's episode. She was fortunate in that she not only hosted at a time when the show was well-written, but also at a low for female cast members, with Jan Hooks having to do most of the heavy lifting. As a result she has starring roles in three sketches along with smaller bits in others (she's only missing from one sketch the whole night) - I'm sure you've all seen the main two more than once, but there's another where she plays a mother-from-hell sending her teenage daughter into crying jags that is also worth a watch.

Sorry, I should have put a warning on how gross the old days could be...

 

That era is "my" SNL and I still love and miss so many from that period, especially Jan and Phil. I'm so glad Susan got to host around then. Game Breakers, the monologue, and All My Luggage are absolutely timeless.

I'm watching the 35th anniversary episode, and I've seen it a million times, but something just occurred to me - when Tad and Erica surprised Joe with his anniversary party at the hospital, it really looks like Ray MacDonnell was actually surprised and wasn't expecting the episode to somewhat be built around him. Was that ever established or discussed in the press at the time?

This clips makes me laugh because Tad says he is 19.  This is in 1983, which means when All My Children went off the air, Tad was only 47!  MEK looked good in 2011, but not youthful.

I don't remember that discussed in the press but Ray acted very well played in the episode.

MEK really isn’t that far off, though, I think he was born in 1958 or 1959, so only 4-5 years off of Tad’s established age. I think Tad managed to escape any kind of SORASing or de-SORASing bc he was introduced as a 10-year-old in 1972-73.

 

But god he does look a thousand times better these days, and it sucks that we don’t have him as Tad on our screens regularly anymore. He was so checked out by 2005, probably earlier. I bet he’d be a lot more dynamic now.

Yeah, I think this was when Adam had some get rich scheme (I think? I don't remember the motivation really) where he faked his death. He somehow got kidnapped and held hostage by Billy Clyde and Christina Baranski, while Adam's wife, Erica was sexing up Mike Roy in the Chandler Mansion.

      @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.

      Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.

      Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.

      Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!

      I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.

Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.

      Agreed. The Emmys next year are gonna be a pretty tough competition and I hope we get a Days sweep lol  Not only does Deidre deserve a nomination for these last few weeks, but I also think Paul Telfer, Raven Bowens, Carson Boatman, Dan Feuerriegel and Alison Sweeney have good chances as well.
