AMC and OLTL Canceled!

Robin is coming off very badly on Twitter. Going after Oprah is a nasty mistake on her part. She's coming off as a deranged loon.

The NY Post is reporting that Lucci's headed to Desperate Housewives thanks to her contract: http://www.nypost.com/p/pagesix/next_for_lucci_6MNCJNtpJFvRPlmvP7KlPO

thats what SID is hinting at. Im not sure if she'd accept an offer on another ABC show after how they handled AMC's cancellation, at least not this soon. But I cant lie in that I wouldnt mind seeing her go on there

DH is so past its prime (if there was a prime) and not very funny. I don't want to see Susan doing pratfalls with Teri Hatcher. I know there isn't a lot of comic genius on ABC at the moment but I wish they could find something else for Susan.

Strasser is starting to remind me of Carolyn Hennesey on twitter. I can't even stand Carolyn's character on GH anymore cause of how she acts on twitter

It's the sense of entitlement that I don't get, OPRAH DOES NOT OWE THE SOAP FANS A DAMN THING. Why are people acting as though she has some sort of obligation to save AMC and OLTL?

The entitlement is disgusting. Oprah showed more respect and decency in that video than Frons has ever shown any of us and people are acting like she pissed on Doung Marland's grave. Chris Rock was just in Chicago to do her show. She should've let him make that video. He'd have smacked some sense into these folks.

That said, I have no doubt that Oprah will do scripted programming one day. She has the history with "Brewster Place" and Oprah Winfrey Presents." Hopefully when she does, she'll give us a chance to see some of these actors again. But clearly the woman has a plan for HER business and it doesn't include soaps.

Oy that Oprah video. Comparing MTM and soaps is not the same thing! More BS. If more people are not home during day to watch soaps then why put on new shows?!

Because they're not going to expect as high of ratings since the shows are cheaper to produce. If I remember right LMAD did kind of numbers as GL but since it's cheaper it's not going anywhere

I don't think anyone should have expected Oprah would pick up the soaps, she isn't just a talk show host and media mogul, she is a businesswoman and a pretty shrewd one at that. The soaps that are over 40 years old, I don't see how purchasing them would be a great idea, there is absolutely nothing lucrative in doing so.

Oprah would have been better off not responding at all if people were going to react so badly. It's one thing to be angry at the network, it's another to get angry because someone won't save a show, Strasser is too old to act like that. She's starting to act like she's about one step away from waving a gun and taking hostages at ABC.

I agree. Oprah though has been doing a lot of video posts lately. I think it would have been better to have said something like, "Unfortunately, we're not in a position to bring on a scripted show to OWN in the foreseeable future." I understand she was giving us the "bone marrow" truth, however it's not going over very well for some people, like RS.

I'm interested to know more about La Lucci's "ironclad" contract.

The last I saw the ratings were lower than GL's (including demos), but that was a while ago.

she gets to play Erica Kane even on DH. Wouldnt it be fun if Erica was a model that inspired Gabby from her old modelling days?

The zealots would attack Oprah no matter what she said because in the end the answer is still "no." Just because some people can't handle the truth, doesn't mean you should stop telling it. Catering to that kind of childishness is part of the reason these shows are dead. At some point the only answer people deserve is "F--- off."

soapsindepthabc Soaps In Depth ABC

Oprah seems to think there aren't any soap fans in her audience. Maybe SHE'S the one who should be boycotted. #justsayin'

Where are some soap fans getting the idea that Disney has 75 million dollars invested in OWN? It was reported that Discovery invested that amount last summer, but I didn't hear of a Disney connection until now. Does Disney own Discovery?
