I agree... Id rather see characters like Chance Ronan and heather gone for good, but yeah given the horrible route they had taken the character (totally effing up the whole brain damage/not having any feelings BS.) I think the character has ran its course. Watch her be killed off by those same people who were after Heather cause they thought she was Heather.... (sorry i can see Y&R go there )

Was just about to echo that very sentiment. I have a lot more time for somebody like Jana than GR/Kevin and EH/Chloe (who I actually once liked). Feather, it goes without saying.

To her credit, Emily O'Brien took an afterthought of a plot-point (Jana re-embraces the crazy)and really gave it some substance. I 100% feel for Jana and her reasons and motives behind what she is doing -- even if I fail to comprehend the attraction of Chlmydia Fisher.

EOB is a talented actress but they ruined Jana and were only using her to prop Kevin's awful asexual love story with Chloe. IMO, she's the only watchable one in that mess but if that's all Jana can do then its best she goes. They never branched Jana out either so there's nowhere else to put her.

She's a good actress who had the misfortune of playing a character who should have been gone in 2007. Maria probably just ran out of ideas for Jana. Y&R's younger set is just really sad, most of them are characters that are useless.

Soaps.com has an interview with O'Brien up. On why the show let her go, she said "They said that they're trying to get back to the core families. I think it had something to do with the ratings, and I understand that. I think I'm one of the few or only characters who's not affiliated with one of the main families. I lasted for five years, so that in itself is great."

Her character kicked ass when she was so crazy and i liked the chemistry between her and Kevin but her character got very bland and unnecessary over the last couple of years.

She's an awesome actress and if she doesn't find something outside of the soaps then I would hope that she ends up on another soap maybe AMC to give them a really good edgy female villain type character.

First of all, EOB sounds like a class act judging by that statement alone. Recognizing and thankful for her luck in being able to stay on the show. Secondly, there are a bunch of characters that I would rather see leave before Jana -- and some of them have the last name "Newman," "Abbott" and "Fisher."

Secondly, Emily must have misheard -- MAB meant core family. The Numbnuts.

    • That happens sometimes on cbs/paramount. Just refresh the page and it should work.
    • In a 1997 SOD article, Ehlers mentions that she was asked to return several times, but was surprised she wasn't asked to return for her "mother's" funeral.  This was when she returned for the 60th Anniversary event.

    • It seems obvious based on the initial material that Korte was going to take another foolish run at Jason and Carly a la 2021 and hoped Mulcahey being back would make it work, as he wrote such famous material for Steve, Sarah, etc. I think a couple good dialogue scenes came out of them together very early on, but there was never any denying that Steve and Laura have never had and will never have any romantic chemistry, plus the audience doesn't want it. So they pivoted to her with that useless dayplayer (Brennan) and now here they all are, spinning their wheels doing nothing of value on the show. I do think PM had planned to do much more with Jason's sons and that rivalry/friction, but once he was gone so was Jake. I've rarely seen any of the core mob 3 feel so totally extraneous and directionless on the canvas. Not that I mind. Anything that makes Jason easier to get rid of works for me.
    • I just edited the 1998 SOD Awards & Laura Wright won Best New Character for Cassie on GL. Also Philip & Harley won something of some name for them as a couple & when they finished saying their effusive thanks at the mic, Grant picked Beth up & literally threw her over his shoulder & walked backstage that way. I mean, it's great that Beth Ehlers is a good sport, right?

    • nothing. The story was put on the backburner while they focused on other stuff. I think thats one of the issues i have with the show in that it sometimes struggles with balance as stories will disappear for weeks and then reappear (Chelsea's throuple for example)
    • I HATED Infinity (I could care less about Kyle Sampson and his hanger ons and the dumb Lujack video, and Mindy and Kurt were strong armed into being a fave couple and married off way too soon (Jeva didnt get that big of a wedding.) I did like the Fishing Mystery (despite the changing of history..it was murky enough that it could be fudged) and the Cabin mystery started out good ..I thought Tony was hot and I liked Annabelle, it had supernatural elements but they did not overtake the story (i.e. Reva traveling through time..) and I love a gothic mystery.. however, it was bizarre that nosy Nola wasnt in the mix...she barely seemed interested that her sister in law was psychic, there may be ghosts in her brothers house, etc.  I don't know if there was a behind the scenes issue with Brown and Kobe, or if Long just wanst interested or felt tied up writing for Quola.  I would have had Quint blow up in the cabin instead of Hillary but..The big problem that the end result was...boring. Okay so there are black Spauldings..and they disappeared...so what now? Not only was J gross...(I can't believe the actor IS actually just as obnoxious as J) they made Chelle into an airhead horn dog going after her cousin. Yes, by adoption but still her cousin. I wondered why she was not calling Nola "Aunt" when she first arrived, and they barely acknowledge each other ( I would think Nola would glomb on to mothering her sister's daughter, especially with Stacy not in town, much to Ed's chagrin) but it was in service to...this??? Wait until Chele gets all horny for an angel...oyyyy! No one else in town reacted to Nadine's death,, cause Deas had to have his big dumb over the top reaction scene to Deenie's death. I can't imaging watching that scnene and thinking he was a good actor!

I know, I'm getting the sense they expected Beaty to stay if they were going the rehabilitation route with Abby. A few weeks ago, when Michelle was dressing sexy for her date with J, she let Abby try on a dress and Rick then taught her what dating was like, and she went in and kissed him. They were clearly setting up the Abby/Rick story, but then suddenly it has pivoted to Rick falling back in love with Annie and trying to convince her not to go to Josh since he and Reva are secretly meeting at the cabin (Annie is getting unhinged here). But with Rick focused on Annie again, it would have left room for Abby to work with Brent, had Beaty stayed (at least this is what I'm assuming based on what I'm seeing). Rick is also now in Blake's orbit - they both just got in a bar fight post-Ross/Amanda kissing and Annie rejecting Rick's advances. They're together and Blake is now coming onto Rick while they drink... uh oh.
    • She is truly in such a delusional state that it's hard to know what's true but I'm sure there are some easter eggs in there. I am very curious to see how they utilize Leslie now that everybody knows who she is. If they do go with a connection to Anita in someway that would definitely be interesting. Anita was the first and only person so far that Leslie seemed intimidated by.
