ETA: And to your second point....yeah, it happens all the time...and as "fake" as Susan Lucci always comes across to me on talk shows, I saw a wistfulness I've not seen from her when she spoke of AMC's possible cancellation in that clip of her on GMA. She didn't seem to me like she quite believed what she was saying herself. Not that she was lying...only that she wasn't very secure in her defense of the show's chances.

See for me it isn't about Susan or Bobbie or Walt or Carruthers. It's about the reality of business. I haven't seen the clip but let's say that Lucci was being "wistful," that might've been because she just wanted to talk about her book or her fatigue with commuting or the fact that her daughter just had a baby, etc... There's a million reasons Susan may have come across the way she did. I'm not prepared to call her a liar BUT I don't trust ABC Daytime and I never will. They've proven to me that they can't be trusted so no matter what anybody says I'm going to think the worst of them. Not the actors but the information that the actors are given. Like I said, the only way to convince me AMC is safe is for AMC make it through April i.e. the first month of Q2 without a cancellation announcement. Anything else IMO is spin.

Already posted. Buried somewhere here. I doubt Agnes knows anything herself.

Oh my apologies, I must have missed it.

This is from the print edition of TV Guide magazine that I got in the mail today. Michael Logan is the author of the article.

Will ABC Ax All My Children?

Queen of soaps Susan Lucci could be forced to give up her throne. The daytime-TV world has been rocked by a report on deadline.com that ABC may cancel its low-rated serial All My Children. ABC Daytime PR Chief Jori Petersen tells TV Guide Magazine it's "just another story in a long line of stories about this same topic."

True enough, but when rumors circulated last year that ABC's One Life to Live was on the bubble, the network vehemently denied it and tried to quell fan panic by announcing that its exec producer and head writer had been signed to new, long-term contracts. There's been no such denial regarding the 41-year old AMC. The network also refuses to comment on insider buzz that AMC and OLTL might be trimmed to 30 minutes each so both shows can be saved.

This much we do know: AMC exec producer Julie Carruthers held a meeting on the set to tell her stars she'd been told nothing by the powers that be about a possible cancellation. "It calmed some people down," says one longtime cast member. "But we all remember how we first found out we were moving the show from New York to L.A. [in late 2009]. We read about it on the internet."

I'm gonna say that's Chrishell.

That article says absolutely nothing. We all know that cancellation could be eminent for AMC (or OLTL), and we all knew that before Deadline ever got hip to the story. The notion that either soap, especially AMC, might not make it through the end of the year is nothing new, either. Nothing in this whole ruckus is new. This time last week, people were waiting on pins and needles by the minute for a cancellation announcement, and here we are, no further now than we were then.

The original pre-Deadline rumblings of cancellation are alive and well, but trail for all of this that's popped up in the last week is as cold as ice water.

"I have another year to go on my contract. And, I can say to you that I have just begun - just begun - shooting material such as I have never done before as an actress. Things Erica Kane has never done before. It's very exciting material and that story arc is a long arc that is written to at least next Fall. That much I can tell you! Of course, the show is not just my storyline, it's all the people there - and that's what we're hearing from all the executives at ABC, is how enthusiastic and excited they are by the writing. We had a head writer who was let go a year and half ago - he was just not the right match for our show."

- La Lucci

She's got another year on her contract? That means what? Nothing, cause ATWT actors had long term contracts and we saw how that worked out when it came to cancellation.

If I were LaLucci I'd be SCARED especially since this is K&S

She may be out of the job, but she doesn't have to be scared of anything. She has fame, fortune, and family, all of which she'd have the time to enjoy more. She'll shed some sentimental tears, but I truly believe that she'll be at peace come cancellation time.

Besides, when the boom is finally lowered, she'll be too busy working on Broadway in a(nother) revival of "Hello, Dolly!" to be depressed.

I'd love two 30 minute shows! I don't have time to watch both AMC and OLTL on a daily basis (but I make time anyway lol)

curious to see why her contract doesn't mean anything, but last year when it was OLTL on the rumor block and AMC announced they renewed the contract of Frank and Ron it was this great assurance the show was going to be around.

I love the idea of 30 minute soaps but not if it's going to be full of Rylee or the harems of Todd/John/Ford.

I'd rather just see repeats of Loving and Ryan's Hope.

I thought 30 minute shows weren't much cheaper than hour shows anyway.
