It's not crap, it's the truth. Jackie Zeman's face isn't normal or the work of a skilled cosmetic surgeon.

And seeing as I'll probably never meet her face to face, I probably would never have the opportunity.

would u want someone to say this 2 u?

If I had a problem with plastic surgery, and it was impacting my looks dramatically (and not for the better), I would hope to god that my loved ones would stage some sort of intervention.

I really think Zeman has somewhat of an addiction to plastic surgery. Every time we see her, the face gets a little tighter...

Can this thread NOT be about her surgery? Like seriously this is supposed to be about her interview with SOC. An interview where we didn't see her at all. So why does it have to be about plastic surgery?

Listen, I LOVE Jackie Zeman. Always have, always will. I adore her on GH. I love Bobbie. Face be damned, I'd love her to be on every single day.

The problem is, Jackie Zeman's plastic surgery has become so intertwined with her image, with Bobbie, with her work. Jackie Zeman has become synonymous with plastic surgery. I don't like that it's come to this for her either, but it's all people talk about for a reason.

I'm sorry, when you discuss Jackie Zeman in the present state, her looks practically go hand and hand. Some women are too desperate to hold on to their 20's when they're pushing 60 and should be called out on it.

I loved Bobbie in the 90's and appreciate a lot of Jackie's 80's work. However, this character has been reduced to nothing and it's been this way for a decade or so, that's not changing.

The character is very lucky she hasn't been killed off yet like so many other veteran characters on GH have. Guza/Frons/JFP must see something in her for not going that far yet.

The problem is, Jackie Zeman's plastic surgery has become so intertwined with her image, with Bobbie, with her work. Jackie Zeman has become synonymous with plastic surgery. I don't like that it's come to this for her either, but it's all people talk about for a reason.

Yes, unfortunately there is never going to be a discussion with JZ without addressing her surgery. It's unavoidable.

Nonetheless, I usually don't think she looks that awful - but I haven't seen her lately - and I always adored her on the show. She was a favorite of mine.

I dont think thats necesarily a good thing. I loved the character of Bobbie and wish they had killed her off. If they arent going to use her, at least have her go out with a decent story. GH should have given Jackie a cancer story to play out a few years ago with Bobbie losing her battle to the disease. Unfortuantely with Guza, he'd have had her gunned down in a mob hit meant for Sonny to cause tension between he and Carly. If they were to kill her off now, it would mean nothing since she's never around anymore. It would be like, Bobbie who? Who cares? They should have gotten rid of her while she still had some viability

She is my absolutely favourite on GH.

You're right. She doesn't look that awful on the show. But she certainly doesn't look good or how I imagine she'd want to look.

You know you're over-botoxed when you can't move your lips enough to get the words out clearly. *sigh*

Honestly, I adore Bobbie and Zeman, but there is absolutely no reason for her to have done that to her face other than insecurities regarding her aging. I can't help but think that her being dumped at GH caused her to enter into an age-related panic and figured she needed an overhaul so she could continue to get work.

R.I.P.: Anthony Geary has passed away

This sums it up for me.
I'd be a hypocrite to act like Luke or Geary meant anything to me as a soap fan. "My" soaps were CBS, and by the time I started watching GH in the mid '90s, I felt no connection to Luke. That only hardened as time passed and Geary's clear disdain for the character and the character's foundations also hardened.
I don't blame Monty for everything soaps became, any more than I blame JER, but there's such a dividing line, made worse because the better soap years are almost entirely lost to us.
That Geary himself seemed to have such disgust for the L&L years informed much of his later work. I think his deconstruction of Luke, and the Luke mythos, would be much more compelling to read about in a paper than what we got onscreen, but that's true of Tony in general. He seemed to have a fascinating life, and even though I disliked Luke and what Luke ultimately did to those around him, I can appreciate his passion for reinvention and wanting to take Luke on his own journey. He never stopped wanting something more, rather than just cashing checks.

I would incorporate that as well. We would learn he faked his death in the ignoble ski lift, etc. and then went on, and it would unfold future story for his surviving loved ones.
I've outlined my woulda-been plans for Luke's final story to friends like titan or DRW before but in some ways this sad news makes a revision simpler, more elegiac. I won't go into them in a thread like this, friends can ask me in DMs if they wish but I'll just say again, I think the focus has always needed to be heavy on Laura re: Luke passing away. Her grief in 2022, like the entire event, was very perfunctory and rushed. Largely because I strongly suspect FV had gambled on getting Tony back for the 60th or a future time (as he'd gambled with Steve Burton in 2012, and Trevor St. John at OLTL in 2011), and revealing that offscreen 'death' to be a hoax or scheme. (Even Bobbie suggested this in 2023, which went nowhere.) Who knows, maybe GH did have an arrangement and then Tony's health grew worse. But they should never have let that weak stuff go to air unless they were certain.
Just speaking as a general audience member, Laura should never have believed Luke was dead. The Cassadines faked her death and the death of her mother and son. People saw fake bodies. Even if remains are presented Laura shouldn't believe it. All this time I have to believe her somewhat muted reaction and the scant writing is because Laura has quietly, consciously or unconsciously, been waiting for Luke to come back. And when she realizes he isn't coming back that should break her life as she begins to fully reconcile her heart re: her life with him. Something we could learn Luke had finally begun to do himself before his own death.

Knots Landing

The one thing I do remember when reading the blogs about each season written by Tommy was that Dunne had no intentions during his time there of reuniting Gary and Val. To him and the other producers there.. they were to remain divorced yet always connected through no only Lucy and the twins.. but because of their history.
Nothing shows this more than when after she was found in TN and came back to Knots Landing that Gary had to break it to her that they weren't sure married and that they had attempted things a second time as adults and it didn't work with the two crying on the beach over what once was. Having Val's memory totally return only became a thing once she was around Ben and it was played up in an end game sort of way.
Paulson, or whomever was the show runner, in season 7 totally switched gears and started to make Ben the antagonist instead of Gary.. even having him cheat on Val with Cathy.

Although Luke was never my reason to watch GH, there was no denying that Anthony Geary was a legend in his own time.
I hope he is at peace and that Jackie Zeman was there to help him transition. I liked Luke best when the show played the brother/sister beat with Bobbie.

I do think Abigail Klein is at least serviceable and I don't hate Stephanie. The character just has 0 personality. She morphs interests and desires every time she switches boyfriends. And it's not as if any of her pairings have even been mildly popular.
I agree about C/F obviously. It's better, but not special. The bar was so low the lack of offensive material made the show seem like it was moving in the right direction. The show really isn't moving anywhere lol. It's just existing day to day.

Given the news with Rob Reiner today I certainly did not expect to hear Tony Gerry passing away. This shortly after the anniversary of Luke and Laura's wedding too! Anthony was perhaps the biggest actor in all of soaps, and he was a part of the most famous pairing in soaps.
I grew up on JFP era GH, and only knew Luke as the comically cynical gambler and drunk. Laura was the woman in the rocking chair. I had no idea until I watched the 50th anniversary marathon that Luke was a leading man back in the day, then a well balanced family man/shaky business in the 90s. A certain light disappeared from the character after Laura went into catatonia. The character was further degraded when they claimed he ran over Jake.
In my mind, the last scene of GH would've been Luke and Laura getting remarried after they did all the healing work from their traumatic years together. Sadly, that will not happen. But at least the character of Bobbie was still alive to mourn Luke when he was killed off.
What I will always wonder is why the actor resented the pairing and the version of the role that made him a household name. RIP.
