ABC owns its shows and I am sure they set aside a yearly "budget" for each show, but the bloc is one entity. The over budget productions will just be taking more money from the pot as a whole. I think OLTL is probably the only one self-sustaining. I can totally see them cancelling OLTL just to have more money to apply to the bloated budgets of GH and AMC. Is that fair? No of course not, but it makes the most practical sense from a business point of view, 0.1 differences in ratings and a few thousand viewers here and there aside.... GH and AMC still are a much more marketable brand than OLTL is or ever was. But, alas.... once one goes and is replaced with a successful talk show or what have you, it won't take much longer for the other two to be shelved as well. 0.1 differences in ratings and a few thousand viewers here and there aside....

I can TOTALLY see AMC moving back to NYC and being run buy Frank and maybe even RC has HW. They will lose RB , more than likely Greenlee would endup in Port Chuck.

You underestimate Y&R's need to stunt cast.

If OLTL is cancelled over AMC, I will be 100% done with ABC daytime.

If it happens AMC numbers will drop even further. It's just a matter of time before AMC is gone. Quality wise OLTL is better than AMC. AMC has been poop for some time now...IMO

OLTL will be hit much harder viewer wise if AMC goes , than if OLTL goes.

So you are saying if OLTL goes, AMC's ratings will drop because it (OLTL) was canceled? Um their numbers will keep dropping probably at the same rate they (and all the other soaps are now). Southofnowhere brings up a good point, presumably if AMC were to be canceled (the lead-off in the daytime bloc) the OLTL's numbers would be more adversely affected than if it was the other way around. I don't think OLTL's cancellation would have any effect on AMC, it would actually be more likely to effect GH.

When it comes right down to it, if people could put their inherent biases aside they'd see why from a business point of view, canceling OLTL is the most plausible, and sorry to say likely option if what daytime confidential is reporting is true. I, at this point, think it would be wise for ABC just to cut the entire block completely. By canceling one now (whether its AMC or OLTL), they are just delaying the inevitable. All three shows IMO are creatively speaking, sh*t, and have been for quite sometime.

Nevermind. Adam's explanation makes sense.

The 3 ABC soaps should be able to do fine on their own since they have been on the air for over 40 years.

FV has been a part of OLTL for over 25 years and RC about 15 years I think. I dont see them just going to another soap. Cancelling OLTL would just be a slap in the face.

I have no biases. As a viewer looking inside the window...I'd ax AMC first. I just dont get why on a business point of view ...OLTL would be cancelled considering AMC numbers are [!@#$%^&*]...they couldnt even get a huge bump during the snowstorm.
