Also the thing that really is going to really be sad is the fact that SOAP OPERA reporters are going to be happy IF AMC is gone *cough*Nelson Branco*cough*, when they are going to have no jobs if and when daytime is gone.

True. That's why you've noticed Daytime Confidential spinned off with Pop Confidential.

This whole pose has always been a poor fit for you, dear; you can't carry it off. You have all the edge of a 1994 Afterschool Special.

Oh bitchy, bitchy Vee! No Sylph to flirt with today? Oh what will you do!?

Once AMC is gone I am done with daytime. That's the real issue. If AMC or OLTL is canceled people will be tunning out regardless so it's a lose/lose situaiton.

I was working with someone who casually knew MEK and they told me that to his regret he blew a potentially big time career-making audition by ditching his script because he thought he was off book. He wasn't. He went up on his lines and had egg all over his face in front of some important faces. For whatever that's worth.

I think there are several factors at play. Sure, there are anti-soap snobs out there, but some people just have bad luck, audition poorly, are too impatient, live beyond their means and need employment, just love to work... But I don't think anyone from a soap who's had a taste of a primetime filming schedule would ever go back to soaps unless they had to or really really REALLY liked that kind of grind.

I think she would end up at GH.

Rebecca Budig has had many primetime opportunities and avenues outside of AMC. She worked with the WWF, she had a show on Style, she did Bachelor-related shows and had promotion with that pig from the Bachelor she was married to, she has had primetime reality shows in major timeslots, etc. I think she just isn't charismatic or talented enough to be able to make it.

Cameron Mathison has killed most of her career. As for primetime she just wasn't comfortable, too much time passed, it wasn't in her.

While I can sympathize with people losing their favourite shows...

My initial thought to this is OH WELL. You can't support a genre that gave up on itself a long time ago...

Best damn post in this thread.

Mathison is probably lucky to have the career he has had. His peak outside of AMC-related work was a pretty boy supporting role in a flop movie, 54.

I think it's the same with Budig. Right place, right time with AMC, and they have kept her employed and given her many other opportunities ever since.

I know soaps are often seen as a burden to actors but I think most of those who have a chokehold on ABC Daytime likely would have been out of the industry long ago.

That's really fascinating.

I think MEK was also a little bit too...too pretty, too handsome, too hammy, too schmoozy. By the time he hit it big on soaps that wasn't selling well outside of soaps.

I hope ABC announces things ASAP. I don't want to keep waiting <_<

What I want to know is WTH made Brian Frons fall in love w/ CM? I can understand RB, I mean Greenlee/Leo but CM when he was w/ Esta and Ryan/Gillian were running BF wasn't working near this show.

Don't get me wrong, I love MEK. I think that he could've made the transition to primetime/film were it not for some bad timing and perhaps a taste for the high life when he was younger. That was a different time. The others I mentioned are guilty of the comfort zone thing to varying degrees. I honestly think the only reason Marcil returned to GH was so she could pay off her wedding. Fumero and Howarth...well that's for another thread.

Bottom line is that going backward has consequences and as these shows die off, it's less and less of an option.

3D - how appropriate for a show stuck in the 50s.

Now we just need Tyra/Daisy/Eden/Abby to honor the history of Switchblade Sisters.

LOL +1.

It'll hit on a random Tuesday, when we're not looking. BAM! Tori Spelling, it is the anointed time.
