December 9, 201015 yr Member The prequel stars up next month, and the first season was truly the best hour of television all year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8dTOGlKZtI&feature=channel There just is no better show on TV: sex, intrique, scheming, murder, violence and more sex and more violence, but the scheming and intrigue is the heart of the show. It's Dynasty crossed with 300.
December 9, 201015 yr Member My friend was an extra in this...should ask him more about his experiences on set EDIT: And after checking out the trailer I just realized that's him in the top left hand corner of the thumbnail pic with the orange hat on underneath where it says "Spartacus" LMAO Edited December 9, 201015 yr by Dion
December 9, 201015 yr Member Is this going to be a 12 episode season or more of a mini-series? I don't get Starz, but I will watch when it comes out on DVD. I liked the first season a lot, which I watched through Netflix.
December 9, 201015 yr Member sooooooooo Spartacus is not actually in this season No, the actor was too sick. This is when there was hope he might come back and they wanted to keep the show's momentum going, while he got treatment. Now they are looking for a recast and Aiden Turner is in the running.

December 10, 201015 yr Member This show caught me by surprise--I shoulda known the combo of Buffy and Xena staff members would create something fun. Can't wait for the prequel. December 10, 201015 yr Member Oh, God! I wish I could watch this, but urgh! After HBO's Rome, TV miniseries Spartacus with Goran Višnjić on USA, I, Claudius with Siân Phillips and a truckload of others, we needed a new one?!
December 10, 201015 yr Member six episodes I think. The shame is Lythia will not be in it, she was like the Alexis Carrington of the first show. Yes, she's deliciously evil :-) I wish they had made this 12 episodes, but 6 will have to do. Apparently it was originally a prequel *episode* but has been expanded. I think that will turn out to be a good decision on their part. They can't afford to lose momentum.
December 10, 201015 yr Author Member Yes, she's deliciously evil :-) I wish they had made this 12 episodes, but 6 will have to do. She was the best one on the whole show, doing things no soap villainess would do. I think she had the best and most shocking moment of the whole show, when she flipped out for a moment.

After HBO's Rome, TV miniseries Spartacus with Goran Vinjić on USA, I, Claudius with Siân Phillips and a truckload of others, we needed a new one?! Well it's not remotely the same to those in tone or especially ambition. (and even in its trashiness, it's far better than the Goran miniseries--though obviously not close to Rome or particularly I, Claudius). Edited December 10, 201015 yr by EricMontreal22
December 10, 201015 yr Member No it's not. This is trash and revels in it--the fact it's good trash is a surprise. I Claudius didn't have that ambition. You wouldn't like Spartacus anyway so don't try it is my advice. You of all people know that the approach to something makes all the difference in how similar subjects are dealt with. December 12, 201015 yr Member I'm going to miss Andy Whitfield, but am looking forward to the prequel. Will be interesting to see what they do for season 2 ??
December 17, 201015 yr Member I just may tune in. I watched S1 for the major and constant lulz so I'm still deciding. Oh man, Starz labeled it wrong saying GotA was airing tonight when really they're just doing a marathon of Blood & Sand. Edited December 17, 201015 yr by London
