Thanks so much for that great in depth information. I love hearing about behind the scenes production elements of the soaps, had always wondered about Y&R's production model.

Y&R always came across as a little more polished than other soaps to my eye.

Marc also had a brief affair with Jill in 1984 when Jill was convinced John was carrying on with Dina

No not at all. John also never made the connection that Jill's pregnancy may have been from Jack, I figured he would at least be suspicious once he knew she had an affair in November and announced her pregnancy in December, even though everyone believed she was pregnant from October. Ashley saw Jill and Marc together once and questioned Jill, but Jill managed to convince her nothing was going on, Lindsey also saw them together but didn't do anything about it, Jill managed to keep this one hidden from the cameras, haha.

Damn. I never made the connection about Jill's pregnancy until recently either. I had seen the episodes where she is in the hospital after losing the baby but I always thought she threw herself off a chair because she thought the baby had genetic problems. I guess it didn't click that the story with the pictures dragged on long enough for that pregnancy to fit the timeline. Of course John never suspected Billy could be Victor's either haha.

I'm also reading the recaps and there's so much random stuff that never gets mentioned again. Like when Lauren needs money for the music video, Jack pays her to seduce the professor away from Traci. Jack becomes impatient and says maybe she doesn't have what it takes to be with an older man and she proves him wrong by banging him in her dorm room lmao. When Jack and Lauren were hanging around each other last year I had no idea.

In the Jill compilation I posted you see when Jill announces her pregnancy to the family, Jack quietly says "I'm sure glad you were pregnant before we spent that night in the cabin" the look on Jill's face was priceless. She had told Kay in October that she was already pregnant, then hoped to get pregnant. Kay confronts her in Dec and Jill faints and finds out she really is pregnant. Lindsey believed Jill's baby was Jack's, she was the only one I think that assumed it.

The miscarriage I think really was about the chance of the baby being genetically deformed. Though in a later scene Lindsey brings up the fact that Jill also managed to dodge a bullet by losing the baby since she believed it to be Jack's

Reading this synopsis from Dec 75 had me wondering if Jane Hayes might have been the role referred to by Carolyn Conwell as one of her earlier Y&R roles.

It fits her description of  a welfare mom who was involved with Greg at Legal Aid.

Chris became further involved with Jane Hayes, the welfare mother who was giving her children away, by having Snapper give her a physical. He found she was anaemic and run-down and urged Chris to get her into the hospital, saying he would arrange it. With Greg's help, Chris succeeded in persuading her. Greg told Chris he originally got involved with Gwen on the rebound from her, Chris, and when she and Snapper separated, he had considered making a move, but he realized she and Snapper belonged together. Chris was grateful. On Christmas, Chris took Jane home and arranged for her children to come home. They asked to stay and Jane was hesitant until Chris explained she had found Jane a job where the kids could be with her. Chris and Snapper talked things out and as he agreed to all her terms, they reconciled.

Just been watching the latest 1984 clips in the vault (56a). So much Victor and Cora stuff that is just beautiful to watch. This is one of those rare times where you do see a completely different side of Victor, and Eric Braeden plays it so well. You also get to see Cora hold Victoria for the first time, and that is simply heart melting.

Also there is a little bit of Paul and Patty, and I will say right now - Andrea Evans has fully grown on me in that role. It’s a shame they couldn’t have brought her back initially when Patty returned in 2009 (but obviously wouldn’t have made sense with all the backstory that was involved in her return).

The july 4 1984 episode when Danny tells Patty he married Traci was so sad...and knowing what we know now about Patty's fate...the seeds were planted back as far as 1982.  The desperation is evident..and we haven't seen episodes that led to Patty leaving (she accidentally caused Traci's miscarriage and she couldn't bear to see Danny's disappointment so she left town..so her mental state was shaky it seems).

    • There was a scene in the past week or two with Leslie looking at some papers and mementos, which included an invitation or souvenir from Alan's memorial service or funeral -- it was dated as November 2024. Me just guessing but it seems to me that Martin's nightmares about the accident are from something longer ago than November.
    • ah thanks! do you know who the third one was in the blonde? the fifth one i know ive seen before in the brown wig but i forgot, and then ive never seen the psychic one before lol
    • I felt for Ted early on but as the story unfolded it has changed my opinion on him. To know he was cheating while his wife was struggling to give him a baby is a lot to deal with. Plus, this happened ages ago and still he's paying Leslie off and threatening her to leave town.  What really caused me to lose him in this episode was how even though he was busted, he still refused to take responsibility and come clean and the way he talked to Martin and Eva was terrible. To tell Smitty he better get Martin away from him when that is his SON who he used to cover up his affair? That is true dog behavior. Ted seems upset he got caught but I'm not seeing the remorse I would need to want Nicole to forgive him. I'm curious how I'll feel after Ted gets to talk to Nicole but I need him to fix it with the rest of the family as well.
    • I'm sorry. I well remember Jake doing Doris but I have no independent memory of the story around it.  Krystle with a K Lake, sure, both Tony the Tuna stories & NOT.  And, Jake also impersonated a woman named Bunny Eberhardt but he didn't know she was a woman so there was no drag. This weekend I re-watched Kevin & Mac, GH, and my strong impression is exactly what it was when I watched it in real time: They did not let them look very pretty. Of course, I think the best ever drag on GH was Alexis posing as the Q butler.  In a different use of drag at AW one Halloween, Jensen Buchanan went as Charlie Chaplin & Judi Evans went as, I think, a male gypsy.

    • I'm not sure who wanted them to dump REUNION & instead do a "Dallas-like daytime show" but it seems that it def came from NBC to AW through Rauch, so, yes, it absolutely could have been his (cough-another-stupid?) decision!!!! I've just begun the new Lisanti book so maybe I will find out. (I waited for the kindle version to come out.) I would apologize for being so critical & so sarcastic, too, but, well, I'm not actually sorry!  Silverman was NOT a friend to AW.  And, I believe the critique is on point & deserved! I wanted to explain why I think the timing is off for the 90 minute show to be a reaction to the GH Luke & Laura story & its hype. Because, for sure, networks & production companies did react to it! The first 90 minute show was Monday, March 5, 1979.  And, there was some unknown amount of time ahead of that with people arguing about it & then, planning it.  The Luke & Laura wedding was mid-November 1981.  They were on the run from Frank Smith & stayed overnight in Wyndham's Dept. Store early August 1980.
    • terrible at using forums and inserting photos, but jake in another world had a drag persona named doris, anyone know the episode or year? http://www.anotherworldhomepage.com/ffad19.jpg
    • Yes, I am familiar with Fred Silverman. Agree, the 90 minute AW a very poor decision by Silverman. I think Silverman was behind the decision to go with Texas.
    • Thanks -- you're doing God's work The Gio reveal was everything I hoped for and more. GH got it right. Head to toe, GM is a stunning physical specimen.
    • I really wonder how they'll handle Netflix's usual long breaks between seasons. That girl is going to grow up fast... makes me wonder if this wouldn't have been a better fit for HBO Max considering they're leaning into a more broadcast style of production model with The Pitt.
    • I agree -- I didn't suspect Ted, either. I think a lot of people are giving themselves way too much credit in predicting Ted's problems

And can I have a different take on Ted here? Yes, he's made a huge mistake with this Leslie debacle, and yes, he has to suffer and pay for it. But does that make Ted a terrible human being? I don't think it does. He made a horrific mistake over 2 decades ago, and as far as we know, he's been a good husband and father since. As far as we know, he hasn't strayed or violated his marriage since. He didn't know that he fathered another child, and thought he "removed" Leslie from his life. I won't blame Nicole if she doesn't forgive him, but I also won't blame her if she decides what they have and what they've had more than makes up for what he did. Ted is getting dragged far more than Bill is on these boards, and I think Bill is MUCH worse as a husband and father. How many times did he cheat on Dani during their marriage? How many times did he do vile things in his role as fixer? How much did he hurt his daughters by screwing their friend and marrying her? With Keith Robinson coming in as Ted, maybe we'll see a character change in direction and we'll discover that Ted has many flaws and always had a dark side. For now, though, I'm inclined to both be angry with Ted for hurting his family while also sympathizing with him. I know what you mean, but I do think that was intentional. So much was going on in that episode, and I think they decided not to let Nicole's reaction be lost in all that. Nicole will get those scenes that you're asking for.
