shielaforever, I had to laugh about Considine looking like a mexican gigolo! LOL In the 70's, you'll find the lighting varied from episode to episode, with everything taking a decidedly darker turn in 1975. Here you see the darker lighting in the Pierre/Sally scenes. Conboy did tend to light the Chancellor mansion brighter to show it off. I believe even with the live to tape episode they usually taped 2 weeks in advance, so the airdate most likely would have been February 2-6, around in there. They didn't do the "hearing the charcter's thoughts" in every episode, this was just a "theme" episode in that respect, but I like hearing the chraracters thoughts like that. The camera work had been perfected by 75, and everything had perfect dissolves and great shots. This was still early enough that this episode is one that Bill Bell wrote completely by himself, it shows how truly great he was.

Thanks for the intel!

You're definitely right about Bill Bell single handedly writing this episode. He had not even met Kay Alden around that time, meaning he wrote this episode completly by himself alongside DAYS where he still was headwriter for 1 1/2 + years... But this also proves that despite being very exhausting to write a show alone or with one or two people alongside the road, you can also deliver your idea much more precisely onscreen than today. That's probably one of the perks of those David E. Kelley-shows who is the only one still following this formula.

Anyone bother to type up a cast list for this episode? :-)

So who played Therese the maid and Hazel???

Alphanguy74 Thank you so much for this awesome episode. I love everything about it. Hearing the vintage lush background music makes me sad they no longer use it on the show. Little did Kay know that the minute Jill stepped foot in her home, her life would never be the same again.

I wonder why they replaced John Considine as Phillip ? If he had stayed in the role, they could have gotten his brother Tim to play his brother on the show.

I noticed that it being taped live the Mrs.Foster/Mrs.Chancellor flub by Brenda and the music edit when they skipped ahead to the part of the song they wanted to finish the closing scene with Jill.

I have to say I think I watched this episode about 7 times by now! LOL

So what I'm also wondering, if Snapper had just gotten married to Chris around this time, wouldn't the Brooks be able to help out the Fosters with their financial problems? at the same time I can see them offering to help and Liz declining but I was just curious.

You are not the only one that has watched this multiple times. I love the background music, especially the theme playing when Jill is looking at the magazine daydreaming before Hazel comes in. I could put that on a loop and listen to it over and over. I remember them using most of the 70's themes on up to the 90's. It's a shame they got stupid and dumped them. I started watching the show as a child around 1979/80. The opening credits with the sketches was used up till 1988 when artist Sandy DeVore retired and they switched to the live action shots. They have kept Sandy's Y&R logo that debuted around 1984.

I wondered that too if the Brooks wanted to help the Fosters. I know Stuart wanted to help Snapper & Chris many times, but Snapper's pride wouldn't let him accept charity. Stuart & Snapper were often at odds due to the fact that Snapper fathered Sally's baby out of wedlock. Stuart also felt that Greg was the better match for his daughter Chris and encouraged him to persue her several times over the years. There was a stupid soryline in the early 80's where Chris wanted new furniture and Stuart gave Chris the money to redecorate. Snapper had a fit and I think she wound up having to take everything back. Stuart also suggested one time she and Snapper move into the Brooks home and he get himself a place to live. Snapper told him to shove it.

I am intrigued by the character of Theresa and wonder how long she was around. In just a few lines of dialogue, we got the sense that she was closely attached to Mrs C. I wonder if Bill Bell was thinking of setting up a rivalry between her and Jill.It would have added another dimension to the story. Did Bill tire of Sally or did Lee Crawford want to leave? When she was brought back in the early 80's nothing much came of it. Imagine if she hooked up with Greg and became part of the Foster family.Greg would have become a father figure to Snapper's son and all sorts of angst could have played out.

    • Just caught up and these episodes were absolutely amazing! Ambyr Michelle was soooooooooo good, and I felt so bad for Eva, I actually teared up. I love that Andre was nice to her, that was my favorite Andre moment of the series thus far.

I don't need to warn you that if you like this & want to keep it download it. Now, isn't she positively amazing?!!! Well, IMO she is. This is only the first episode that I've got her in. I think there will be more.
    • All true, and all an enormous problem on this show. -- The business stories are maddening because none of it makes any sense, none of it has any connection to the real world. As you said, sitting around and discussing mergers, takeovers, and job switching is not a storyline. -- The deck chairs are constantly rearranged on the Titanic -- that's what this show is. Summer, Chelsea, Sally, and Chloe have been in design for how long? And we've never seen ANYTHING from them. Carrying around an iPad isn't enough. BOLD is terrible, but at least they show us dresses from Kohls and jewelry from Amazon. -- I know it's baked into the DNA of the show, but I will never enjoy seeing Jabot and Newman treat each other as if no other companies exist in the entire world. A new magical line of cosmetics is not going to bring down a company like Jabot. -- This is a writing problem, not a budget problem. An enormous amount of cash is not needed to write compelling business stories and show real products. This is writer LAZINESS.
    • Right? GOD FORBID Vanessa be allowed to cut her own mother-in-law down to size, when REVA REVA REVA needs a rival to sharpen her claws on. RME I mean, they could have, but Long and Curlee (like most HW) seemed to forget about characters once they left town. If they mentioned Trish five times in the ten years she was gone, I'd be surprised.  Yeah, Alex didn't really do friendship, other than Lillian. And most of the time, Henry.  And somehow, by the time she leaves, Sonni is some friend of Mo's? Mo is just everyone's default "friend". SMH.
    • I really have no problem with Kai as a character or with the actor. The problem is putting together two very nice people -- Kai and Trina. Neither of them has a bad side, neither of them has a devil on the shoulder, neither of them is impulsive. I think that's a problem in a soap relationship. Yeah, I agree. All this freaking out might make sense if Lulu wanted to do a tabloid expose on BLQ's LOVE CHILD. We have no indication that's the case.
    • So Sonni would have somebody to talk to who she wasn't conspiring with (Will or Alan)? Alex kept telling Sonni how important her friends were...when she had virtually no friends. Instead they created loyal servants like Jane and Vera to give Alex people to play off of. They did that with Iris on AW, but Vivien was mostly there for comic relief Alex keeping Marah's paternity a secret was absurd. But I still love the scene between Alex and Alan where he convinces her by reminding her how they protected each other from their abusive father. Chris and Bev ATE that scene. Unfortunately, that took place only a few months before he exited the show...always thought they could have built on that, explored more how being Brandon's children screwed them both up. Maybe even used it as an explanation for the way their relationship could constantly swing from hatred to love. Instead of it being merely dictated by the plot.
    • The first one is Cass Winthrop dressed as Krystle Lake on Another World (not from his original creation of the character to hide from the loan shark Tony the Tuna, but at a romance convention trying to find out what had happened to Felicia who was missing). The second one is also Another World, Jake McKinnon as Doris although I don't recall what his purpose was.
    • I know there was one brief scene in the summer of 1989 where Lillian did mention Calla.. but in relation to her past relationship to Ross and it was to Roger while he was a patient at Cedars.  I think he was trying to pump her for information on Ross.. and for some reason, Calla's name came up.   I could see perhaps Beth mentioning that her mother Lillian was visiting Calla.. but not exactly giving any sort of details as to the going ons in Calla's life off screen.
