Like Vee, I'm over this show.  I'll watch someday through streaming, but killing Carl was basically killing the future. Almost everyone from the start is dead. I'm feeling it's all pretty pointless.

And yeah, they need to pay the woman. It won't keep me around, but it's only right.

I'm pretty much out (I may catch up on Netflix someday if things turn around), but Lauren Cohan (Maggie) has confirmed she'll be in six of the eight episodes in the first half of next season despite her TV pilot getting picked up.

Meanwhile, ex-TWDers Chandler Riggs (Carl) and Chad Coleman (Tyreese, but to me he'll always be Cutty from The Wire) take each other on in a rap battle on TBS' Drop the Mic. It's in good fun yet still cringeworthy.

Nooo! I had a feeling this was coming. And he'll only be in 6 episodes next season?!

I was going to stick with the show, but now I'm done. For me, there is no Walking Dead without Rick, Carol, Daryl, and Michonne on the cast. Rick is the absolute center. They would have a very hard time doing it without him.

Season 9 should be the end. It doesn't sound like they're going to end it, but they should.

Negan was never good for this show. He was a ridiculous comic book character and Robert Kirkman's personal avatar, and Kirkman always dragged the show down. He should've lasted a season tops if you had to do it. It doesn't surprise me he ultimately was what pulled the TV show apart to the point that I mostly stopped watching at the end of S7 and definitely checked out when they fired Chandler Riggs. I assume Lincoln (and next I'm betting Gurira) came to the same conclusion I have, and him exiting after Riggs' unexpected exit does not surprise me. TV is not comics.

Yes, it really unraveled with his arrival. Even if I hadn't been watching, I could see the sharp decline in interest from my peers between Seasons 6 and 7. It was almost comical how quickly and low it dropped from being constantly discussed to barely there. It was a good indicator of the reaction from the general audience. The show focused entirely on this barely-believable character, excruciatingly slowed the pace down, and refused to just wrap it up. They devoted the entirety of Season 8 to him too (haven't finished), despite considerable pushback and ratings decline. Then they're choosing this time to lose other popular cast members. Yeah, it's really over.

I know a lot of people never cared for Lincoln or Rick but he was always the lynchpin of the show for me. I loved his work and I loved Andrew's passion for the show and the character. And I loved him with Michonne. This makes the decision to kill Carl even more short-sighted.

I didn't mind Andrew Lincoln as Rick, but I hated Carl and was perfectly fine with him FINALLY being killed off. Rick leaving the show is...wow, I really can't imagine the show without him despite how much Rick can suck. The show really does just lumber along now and I pretty much watch out of habit.

    • I have to admit I still have a nagging complaint about timelines - Why aren't we allowed to know how long Ted and Nicole have been married or how old Kat and Eva are? Or for that matter, when Anita last released an album? BTG is a new show with no SORAS or timewarping. MVJ and Guza are working from a fresh bible. There is no need to be so coy about ages and anniversaries, especially when most of the storylines are driven by past events.
    • It was an extremely rare interview even then - I was shocked when I read it (as mentioned I'd forgotten just how far in she went).  Malone was clearly hobbled by NBC and P&G, but re-using so many of his old stories and his soap bible instead of actually coming up with material suited to the characters or show did not help.
    • Seeing this trash get good ratings says nothing good about daytime audiences. It's embarrassing.
    • Cat does feel committed to being a goofball (the other term has been reconsidered in recent years).  I wonder, given her brother Aaron, if Cat was less attractive prior to the surgery?  Remember the 1973 movie The Girl Most Likely to?  My fanfic for the moment is Cat commenting on how people treat her differently now that she is gorgeous.  One assumes that pre-surgery, Cat never had two men fighting over her for a date.  So, it might be fun to see that side of the story.
    • It's probably one of the only conflicts the story will have, aside from Dante being upset with Lulu when the truth comes out. They really needed someone else who actually knows Gio is Dante and Brook Lyn's son and kept quiet.
    • So Cat wasn't a creation of Ron C.. but something that the strike writers generated? Perhaps the new writers will give her some layers and purpose on the show that doesn't revolve around Chad since isn't he on his way out next year?
    • Another good show today, but -- Why is super agent Joss holding that thumb drive in plain sight instead of stashing it in her denim shorts? Make it make sense. -- Dante going after Gio (in the previews) for Rocco's alcohol poisoning is lame and cliche, just a contrived way to drive a wedge between father and son.
    • Didn't he get all angry because the strike writers set her up to be Abigail? And he just went with the first thing that came to mind in order to prevent that?

    • That was an incredible interview.  I cannot imagine it ever happening with a performer currently on a soap.  I remember being extremely disappointed in Michael Malone.  I wish we had all of the backstage scoop on where things went wrong with him.
    • Go 'head, Brandon!! I was worried about this meltdown, but he's giving a pretty good meltdown. Knowing when to do it and just the right moment to pull back a bit.    These Kat vs Eva scenes. The best soap rivalry has the rivals have some empathy for the others though they dislike each other. And they are giving.    Yay! A brief SilkPress vs Dani moment.
