So I havn't watched Y&R in a long time but now watching the scene with Nick and Sharon are the actors purposely trying to play it down or has the chemistry just fully evaporated?

Billy's "annual" Halloween Party?

Victoria as a Playboy Bunny?

Sharon comforting Adam?

Heather working for Grambo?

Lauren being self righteous with Jana?

Nick being useless?

Daniel & Abby?

UGH.

Well, it was a good three weeks... I guess things are gonna go to hell now. Guess who showed up in the final scene? Yes, the strawberry phantom is back again.. and smuggling a beach ball under her habit.

Know I'm in the minority but love Abby and the naked rich bitch routine. Cool parody of Paris Hilton plus this actress has teeth. Maura West is really a big player on the show. Diane is Gloria minus the crow's feet and, while I like her, think there will eventually be backlash. Y&R is a very different show than this time last year.

The problem is parodying Paris Hilton was played out 2-3 years ago. There's very little drama in it, or in Rylan's performance as Abby. She seems too stupid to invest in.

...Or the year before that...or the year before that...

If you're going to be GC's answer to Paris Hilton, Abby, at least be an entertaining one. Parody is one thing, but boring parody should be a sin.

Maura West is still playing Carly Tenney.....lol

She is totally miscast. I am still waiting for Jack Snyder and Emma to show up!

I completely disagree. I find her Diane characterization vastly different from that of Carly. While a HUGE Alex Donnelley fan, I have to admit that Maura is rocking Diane.

I am not saying Maura isnt great but she is not Diane. It's like Marcy Walker playing Diane...It doesnt work.

She's still Carly to me.

A lot of it has to do with the writing though.

From what I've seen on YouTube, Maura is playing Diane with the same aggressive girl from the wrong side of the tracks bite she played Carly with in the 90's (when Carly matured a little bit over the years, Maura gradually stopped playing her as aggressively to fit the maturity of the character).

Exactly, and I keep expecting to see Park every time she says Jack. They are writing her like Carly, not any Diane I can remember. As I've said before, if ATWT was so great, CBS should have just maintained the show instead of relocating Carly, Simon and Goutman to GC.

As for Abby, I like the actress and think she isn't half bad. The writing in this case may be the problem. They've made her too shallow bubble head and it seems impossible for her to be Ashley's kid.

I liked the recent Lauren hugs Jill scene--Lauren was being Lauren--but so hate this Jill Fenemore saga. Jill should be plotting to kill Kay with a stroke or some other sort of evil. Also, hate the way Jill gets pissed over Nikki and Kay being close; however, it might be smart to have Jill somehow helping Meggie to ruin Nikki. Meggie and Deacon doing this minus a major player is lame

Ironic---TIIC might not be writing Diane as "Diane" as she was (which I take to mean she was a big old wimp, having no real memory of AD in the role and not watched SW), but they're certainly not writing "Carly" either. Carly would have gone apesh*t on Phyllis and thrown a lot of Phyllis' history back in her face. Diane mostly took Phyllis' attack and struck back the only way she could---yanking Jack's chain.

Well, I take that back. They are writing "Carly"---they just call her "Phyllis" over in GC.

Oh, Good Heavens PJ! Please, don't ever compare that thing that is flailing it's arms about and acting like a tranny on some heavy meth to our Carly Tenney.

Phyllis is more like this:

Though I still am not a fan of either Amelia Heinle or Marcy Rylan in their roles, they do have some great chemistry together. Honestly I've enjoyed Victoria more in their scenes & story than I have anything else in Heinle's entire run.

Y&R's stripped Diane of everything that made Diane Diane.

The character is basically a generic schemer written blandly as possible to accommodate plot driven stories & stunt casting (much the way Victoria is under Amelia).
