Cough Ellen Dolan cough Ellen Dolan

Oh really? We need to talk over coffee..lol. Oh wait I don't drink coffee..lol

Gregg looks great! I had a crush on him when he was on ATWT. Who knew he was gay.

Scott Bryce is so damn adorable.

The interview was great! They discussed a lot even Anne Sward which Ellen was clueless when asked about her.

ITA! Such easy chemistry among the 3 of them after all these years - memorable, vivid details from their reminiscence.  Glad to hear about Marland and Calhoun, and grateful that Scott talked about Liz Hubbard and Gregg about Eileen.

I think Joyce left during the 1981 writer strike..after her scheme was exposed by Lisa.

I do think Joyce/Lisa could have carried into the 80s even if they were in separate stories.

From what I saw of the Dobson's 1st stint at ATWT, they had a good handle on Joyce...she's the type of character the Dobson's could write with their eyes closed.

Interesting how Calhoun loved all three and left the role of Tom vacant in case Marx wanted to return and Marland wanting to keep Bryce when he became HW. Bryce was thinking of leaving.

Liz and Scott sent to the main offices and told by the producers and P&G to stop the sexual teasing and then calling them back that they were wrong and the audience loved it..lol

The cast of the facts of life being fans of ATWT and watched it everyday. Nancy McKeon telling producers she wanted Bryce on the show.

Thanks for posting the link @Soapsuds. Just watched that Locher Room instalment now, and OMG I was in stitches!

  • Scott Bryce and Hillary B Smith could still do a sibling relationship even today (hell they even LOOK like siblings).
  • Add can I just also say - Gregg Marx definitely has DILF qualities. His face (and his eyes especially) is just so easy to get lost in.

I love how HBS keeps trying to get Gregg to “play with her” on various projects. So obvious that they still love each other so much.

Oh! I also loved how they talked about one of my favourite ATWT scenes ever - when Craig’s crimes are finally exposed to Lyla and she went off on him. They even mentioned *the slap*.

The scene in question start at 43:54

You're welcome! I posted it so it would be easier to find.

Scott and Hillary were roommates back in the day.

I didn't know Hilary wanted Gregg at OLTL. I assume he didn't do any of the projects because he didn't want to move back to the east coast.

I posted the video of Lyla slapping Craig the other day.

I hope Alan can get Annie Sward for an interview. Scott said he could get in touch with her and ask.

Haha

I think this is true for a lot of ATWT cast members. They have this family bond and it showed in today's interview with Gregg, Hillary and Scott.

This reunion was so much fun, I think it has to be my favorite one, followed by Don Hastings and Kathryn Hays. You could tell that Gregg, Hillary and Scott were excited to be gathered for this reunion. Also, I'm so glad that there were little to no technical glitches, which was a relief.

I also have to say that Alan didn't do badly, he probably knew from the OLTL Reunion that HBS wouldn't need much prodding and he could sort of sit back and let the actors take the lead in the conversation.  Wise move.  Alan had several big smiles on his face, so I think he genuinely enjoyed himself.

One note about the chat: I think there are too many people commenting on actors and stories that have nothing to do with these actors or their their time on the show, which might be part of the reason why Alan gets to so few questions in the chat because some people are cluttering up the chat feed with comments and questions and requests for other actors to appear that aren't even connected to the actors who are appearing at the time. I wish people would keep that in mind.  Surely, Alan has a Twitter and it would better serve them if they reach him that way, if it is about a possible future reunion episode.

I didn't mind the request for Anne Sward because Sward is connected to all of the actors who appeared today.  In fact, I think Alan mentioned the possibility of them getting together again with Anne Sward, which I would love.

I wish P&G would allow Alan to use clips. It would enhance it even more to get commentary from the actors on certain scenes.

Although I understand that some actors cringe at watching themselves onscreen.

Hillary mentions that Mercedes Ruehl and Dana Delaney auditioned for Margo against her. Dana had only been off the show (as Hayley) for a few years. Interesting.

Alan really didn’t know the child Lyla gave birth to?  KATIE.  Or that Jermaine Jackson and Whitney Houston sang Tom and Margo’s song?  **sigh**  Do some research, guy. You don’t know the shows as well as WE do and you worked there.

I wonder who the actress Justin broke during auditions?

Seriously Katie and Terri cheat on your man with Dumbo Conn were forgettable.

But how do you forgot Whitney was on ATWT?

    • Whoa. She should have fought like hell to get that. Was it the greatest show ever? No, but it had a fantastic cast and was practically guaranteed to last multiple seasons because of its star power. Could have certainly led to bigger and better things. If it had flopped she could have always gone back to soaps. Judith Light broke through on a sitcom where she was basically second banana to Tony Danza. That grew into a very busy and distinguished career. The woman is still regularly booked to this day.
    • I could understand her being frustrated by the fact that she'd been in the business 10+ years at that point, and probably couldn't even get in the door. But then again, she'd already gone out for pilot season once (that we know of) and she and  her agent knew a 35-ish woman had a very difficult time in Hollywood. I know she did a few guest spots, but other than Designing Women, nothing I saw--not even a Murder She Wrote, and that show had tons of ex-soapers on it. I mean, God bless Marilu Henner, but even having been on Taxi, she couldn't get arrested for years either.
    • I didn't rewatch that period, so I'm not really sure how much Bill is on. I recall something about him living at the boardinghouse. I think Van made Matt his guardian, and why she didn't name Josh would be a mystery to me, other than the HW decided they needed to keep Bill in Matt's sphere. Nola is also his aunt, although they don't know each other well, and Van wouldn't have trusted her anyway. There's Dinah---but she's unreliable. Billy gets out of jail around NYE.

    • That's on Kimmer. As someone posted above...she was offered roles in pilots but she would be part of an ensemble or supporting. She didn't want that so she came back to GL. I don't know what she thought would happen..someone offering her "Here's Kimmer!" or The "Zimmer Comedy Powerhouse Hour" variety show..but her housefrau fans did not have the same pull in HW as they did on the soaps. Forbes and Watros knew that you had to take small parts to get noticed ands start a career in primetime. I know she was in consideration for the wife in Evening Shade, but when you go up against Marilou Henner, the soap diva looses. I could see her frustrated in a role like that, where she has to be the understanding wife with a bit of sass, but she could have made it work, if it wasnt for her huge ego.  I think it would have been an issue haveing all the powerhouse comedy actors surrounding...(lets face it..Alice Ghostly woudl have wiped the floor with her...) but it would have been a good launching padd.
    • Oh good, so I don't have to wait too long haha. I'm glad she cares about seeing Bill graduate. I'm guessing I'm in for a bumpy ride between Bill and Matt, if he's going to be his caretaker? Who else could it be, maybe Josh?

    • Maeve makes a few sporadic appearances, but returns full-time the next spring/summer. She's back in time to see Bill and Michelle graduate, although she skulks around town and wasn't going to tell anyone she was alive. She comes back wearing this HUGE hat---which was a throwback to the old Vanesaa. lol.
    • Aww, yeah it's very heartbreaking and I mostly enjoyed the Nola/Vanessa scenes because they finally let their walls down and came together in a beautiful moment. So Nola was at the hospital already and bumped into Vanessa, who had MRI papers that fell out of her hand and Nola went down to pick them up and asked her what was going on. Later, Vanessa confided in her about her disease. Then, Nola told Zachary on the beach (he prodded her and already alluded to knowing something was going on with Van), and then Vanessa found out she told him and got a little upset. Now, however, Nola is strangely absent while everyone is mourning her death. I'm curious if Nola will actually tell people about her MRI results. I would assume so. Only Nola, Rick, Roger and Zachary know anything, although there is the MRI results letter from the mail that everyone has missed seeing at home. I'm sure it'll all come out at some point. But... I just saw the next episode and the opening already cut Vanessa out and added Dahlia and Zachary. I guess Maeve is gone for a long time

That will break my heart seeing the town continue to mourn her and assume she's dead. I can't wait to see her return though, and I have to imagine feelings will be torn between loving that she's alive and being very angry she did all of this. While I hate what Vanessa is doing, I'm happy to hear it's not totally against her character. I think you're right, had Henry still been around, she wouldn't put him through this. I'm still surprised she is with Bill, though. I get her feelings on Matt, because she wants him to move on, but still very heartbreaking. I'm glad this was Maeve's choice to have a break vs. being fired.    Interesting, so I'm curious to see who they eventually pair Phillip with. They're flirting with a Phillip/Annie pairing, but I'm not sure if they'll go that route with the Jeva drama, her growing pill addiction, and Rick's past with her.  Ugh, yeah I'm so sad to see Bridget do a total 180 in the last couple weeks. She has always been a strong character from what I've seen, but now she's just bending over backwards to get Hart to love her and it reeks of desperation. Yeah, sure, this new Hart is eye candy, but I'm already tired of seeing Hart/Dinah have sex all over Springfield and the Cayman Islands haha.
    • Yes.  I remember them together during the early summer of 1986.  They didn't share scenes again for 30 years until 2017 because Carrie wasn't on the show when Anna returned during Sydney's kidnapping.
