Members TVFAN1144
Loving these 1990 clips What was the trial about involving Sean Baxter?
victoria foxton
My memory is a little hazy. But if i remember correctly it involved a palimony suit by Sean's ex.
Members DramatistDreamer
I vaguely remember that story. Someone posted a TV promo for that storyline and for some reason, I found the promo pretty funny. The actress seemed solid and engaging, as as she was clearly a vixen. Had the character been someone like Kirk Anderson instead of Sean Baxter, who was fairly new and had a very thin tie to the canvas through Courtney, (a fairly recently introduced character herself), the story may have had more resonance but I guess, given Kirk’s recent storyline with Lenore, Kirk’s ex-wife and coming off the very messy storyline of his breakup with Iva to marry her sister Eli (which still seems so wrong even now, decades later), not to mention an early storyline introducing Kirk’s former employer and ex-lover Adelaide Fitzgibbon, it might have been too much of a “case of the ex” for Kirk.
Members DRW50
1990 is an odd year - 1989 is a big transition year for Marland and 1990 is trying to come to grips with that - and this story is a great example of why. Having Frannie return and immediately become involved with a volatile man with a chaotic past was clearly a turnoff for viewers. Burke Moses was very attractive, but I just remember Sean losing his [!@#$%^&*] a lot. Edited June 30, 2022 by DRW50

Members NothinButAttitude
The venom in that exchange with Lisa and Susan... Please register in order to view this content Clips like that always boggle my mind how the likes of Lisa/Kim/Bob/Susan were given scraps in the final years of the show. Especially, when they still had so much life and history left in them. Lisa should've been the town busybody until the final episode.
Members Paul Raven
FLORIDA TODAY APRIL 25 1993 On April 12, the Virginia Theatre was the site of a moving memorial for former "As the World Turns" head writer Doug Marland. Family and friends packed the house and a touching tribute was presented by Dixie Carter (Julia, "Designing Women") and "Someone to Watch Over Me" was sang by Tamara Tunie (Jessica, "ATWT") quite apropos as Doug was always watching over someone and one of his best "ATWT" plots revolved around the song. Gene Palumbo made certain Doug had a dream fulfilled. Palumbo, an illustrious daytime writer himself, talked of the Broadway show he and Doug had penned years before Doug had always wanted the songs from it to be sung on Broadway. They were certain David Merrick would be calling them. Merrick never called, but three of their songs were performed that night, thanks to Palumbo. Almost everyone who spoke about Doug mentioned his love and need for applause. So "ATWT" producer Laurie Caso asked all in attendance to applaud for the wonderful life Doug led. In unison, everyone stood and Doug Marland received a Broadway standing ovation. On May 5, which would have been Marland's 59th birthday, "As the World Turns" will present a special tribute to him.
