Like I said, I think it would have been better in retrospect (especially once Laurie Caso was made aware of her previous role) to have Glynnis O'Connor return in her original role and find someone else to portray Margo.  I mean, I was okay with O'Connor as Ellen Dolan's replacement, but I can see now why others were resistant toward her.

Weren't there rumors about Nancy Lee Grahn being approached to replace Dolan?

Just ouch!  I imagine, struck with enough force, even a child's hula hoop could leave a mark.  I totally want a hula hoop now, his relentlessly cheerful disposition makes me think I can overcome my winter "blahs" by hula hooping it.

Funny but I could actually picture NLG playing Margo.

Apparently some deplorables/toxic males are claiming that they plan to boycott Gilette and Procter & Gamble after those ads criticizing toxic masculinity ran on social media, over the past week or so.

IMO, those ads were the most interesting thing P&G has done creatively since their soaps went off the air.

This seems to be one that wasn't already up on that Astheworldstillturns channel.

I have no idea who that Matt guy is with Iva. He would have been a better match for her than most of her '90s love interests.

I have seen so little of the Burke and Frannie story and I had no idea that this Gail woman even had her own promo! Marland seemed to always try with these scheming ex-girlfriend or ex-wife characters, like Taylor, this woman, Julie, Marcy, Lilith, etc. They end up being a pretty mixed bag.

I always thought the guy who played Sean was hot but he also has a tendency to seem completely insane. I have no idea why Frannie wanted to be with him, aside from his looks I guess. They seemed to struggle with where to take MES' Frannie until the Darryl story.

I saw someone in the comments say 1990 was a weird year for the show and I can see their point...

Oh how hilarious that Gail had her own promo! Especially considering that she spent less time in Oakdale than Laura, Beau's unstable sister who the writers couldn't wait to shove off.  From that promo, one would think that she was going to be around for a long time.

I think 1990 might have been the end result of a lot of upheaval in the previous two years.  Lot of popular characters (and their equally popular portrayers) leaving and the search for more characters that can become staple characters.

From that promo, it almost seems as though Gail was supposed to fit the mold of mid-1980s vixen, Barbara Ryan.

Even though I haven't watched the above episode in a long time, @DRW50 I seem to remember that Matt might have been Iva's therapist.  The last time I watched, I couldn't help but ask "Why didn't they try to carve out a romantic interest been this guy and Iva?!"

Even the first actor who played Jason Benedict, at least seemed closer to Iva's age and closer to the mold of Kirk Anderson (arrogant, sure of himself, etc.) but with the exception of Craig and Kirk, they always insisted on pairing Iva with older men.  The 2nd incarnation of Jason Benedict, came off as more 'sad sack' than sharp, go-getter, like the 1st.

@Khan Had they both stayed on at the same time long enough, Frannie and Marcy may eventually have gotten that storyline!

Seriously, add this to the list of reasons why ATWT is my favorite daytime soap!

They truly are close.  This was taken a few years ago.

In the episode, Marisa had one ancestor whose parents were literally unknown, as the child was abandoned (brought to a Sicilian church and left there, likely because the parent(s) were so poor).  The last name of that ancestor D'Ignoti literally meant "from the unknown" in Italian. Perhaps that ancestor had one parent that links to Julianne's ancestry.

    • Nick told Victoria that he and Sharon had married in England.  Victoria was shocked.  Then she realized he was kidding.  He confirmed it was a joke and they're platonic. I don't even know what to say about that.
    • It's funny you say that because part of the entertainment of the trials on the show are all the day players who come on as witnesses and jurors.  I'm certain it was like the Law and Order of its time. It employed so many New York actors, that if you look close enough, there's usually someone vaguely recognizable in the courtroom.
    • I will defend Dante.  People already suspect he may be a bit unstable from time to time (from his time as a prisoner).  And, he's taking care of other people's kids from time to time.  So, he has reason to be cautious with those in his care.
    • Josh continues to try and milk Abbott/Newman rivalry. First it was Billy/Victoria, then Kyle/Summer, then Noah/Allie (that worked out well) and now Kyle/Claire. Do we have any inkling when Billy Flynn will arrive and who he will play? I'm sure Cole's illness will mostly play offscreen. What's in store for Nick and Sharon? Is it time to put them back together? I can't see any other romantic options. Nick has no children on the canvas to play off, as Christian is never seen. Sharon has only Mariah onscreen.
    • I would appreciate (if they're not coming), for future scripts to refer to them by their iconic hairdos.  For example, if Hope needs to call Chelsea because Bo has Sepsis, I'd like Shawn-D to say, "My Mom called Chelsea (the one with the sassy short black hair) for an update." Also, new rule, if Melanie does return, she needs to dye her hair back to red.  I googled who she was five times during Victor's funeral.

    • Broderick, thank you for all of the info [I edited for space]. I am so grateful for everyone filling in the blanks for me. I suspected the Nora/Eliot scene was very important and it was setting something up but I didn't know what. Can't wait to see it play out. The two actors had such a great back and forth. I should have made the Paige/Patty Hearst connection. I thought Paige was in love with Brian from the first episode I watched but it seemed as if they were brother and sister. Steve kept being affectionate with her so I assumed he was the love interest. Then she was affectionate with someone else and well..she's a very busy woman. I can't wait to see Frances Fisher show up. (I'm trying to be vague because I don't know what would be a spoiler in this storyline) Now it makes sense why Draper would be upset. I didn't get the whole background of why he didn't go to NY. I'm a sucker for good acting, so I might still side with April and Margo, if the writers don't give Draper more to do besides yelling.  He had more chemistry with Logan, but I know that's not happening.  Something else I noticed: the show really takes care with even the smallest parts. The acting is superb. Too often, I noticed on older soaps they don't take care with the recurring or day players (Ryan's Hope was so bad with this that I couldn't make it through some episodes). It's only been six episodes, but so far, the casting department was spot on.
    • I thought Dante was overreacting.  Gio made some mistakes but he's young and he tried.  It's not like he dragged two 14 years to a party and made them get blackout drunk.  Dante can have the initial upset reaction, but to go on and on was a bit much.
    • His (adoptive) nieces.  Chelsea and Stephanie.  I think Abby was involved too, but I am not sure if they are related lol.
    • That was such a dark story. I never liked Swamp girl after that. And then the dating your cousin thing. I think wasn’t Max in a triangle with two of his cousins?
    • Thank you, @j swift.  I'm probably more sympathetic to Draper Scott than most audience members are -- even though I'm absolutely CRAZY about Ann Williams & her bizarre Margo Huntington character

The more I watch these episodes -- and I've watched several of them a zillion times, I'm ashamed to admit -- you realize there's a WHOLE lot of passive-aggressive hostility brewing inside Margo Huntington about Draper.  She wants to take April AWAY from him and recreate the childhood that she never got to experience with April, because of the adoption 25 years ago.  Draper has sense enough to realize how heartless and vindictive Margo really is about other people's lives and their feelings, but he bites his tongue rather than poison his wife's mind about how horrible her mother really is.  And I admire him for that.  He's a sweet boy.
