Never got the Connor love..I thought the actress looked like a witch at the time. Mark was hot and he could have worked if given the right material. He was not a great actor by any means but he had that kind of masculine, hot but doesnt act like a preening Chippendales Dancer thing that worked on ATWT. I thought he was pretty good with Lily but they were still following the "uptight business person with the hot, honest sexy person," thing Marland did so often. Cal and Connor...kind of boring..never got Cal's purpose either and hated his fake accent. Didnt he date Lila too (my God can you imagine the boredom of those scenes???)

He and Lyla were engaged, but split up because he wanted to drill on Native American land and she disagreed with him.

Mark and Lily didn't do anything for me, but I did wonder at the time why the story changed. I don't think it could have been because of Lily/Mike, as he was still with Rosanna and Carly at the time.

I think the show realized Mark and Lily didn't have chemistry.. and I think this was before Damian had announced he was leaving the show so I think Damian/Lily became seen as end game. I guess Mark had some chemistry with Connor.. but then the show writers changed and they were rushed together.. I think.

LOL..I forgot he was Lily's Grandpa. Marland's convoluted family trees made me give up on the show..it got so weird with Lily's parents, adopto parents, step parents, bio grandparents, and Lucindas step siblings, real sibilings, etc. It was even weirder that no one mention out freaked up it all was.

I swear that Marland's ghost helps write "Once Upon a Time," with Henry filling the Lily role (always being kidnapped and in danger, always bitching at someone self-righteously, everyone worried about his emotional state and EVERYONE on the show related to him.)

Connor & Cal always creeped me out. IDK - it was probably the whole age difference. It seemed like they were "domesticating" this vibrant, intelligent business woman as an old man's trophy wife. (Granted Cal always treated Connor with respect, but still.) So when Connor and Mark connected, it was great. I liked an episode where Connor and Cal where fighting about going to a Snyder party and she said something like she was tired of hearing the same family stories again because it made her feel old. That summed it up.

ITA - some of that was so bad. What was it with Cal ("Red Boots") and Mark ("Treehouse") So darned cheesy! I did like Connor with the original actor (James Wleck) who played Linc. The recast really changed the tone of the character and obviously not for the better.

Y'know, as glad as I am that the Jack/Molly story went nowhere...there's no denying that visually, they looked really good together.

And there's no denying Martha's hair looked a hell of a lot better shorter than the dark, frumpy mess Goutman foisted upon her.

They did, didn't they? I wonder why it went nowhere. At the very least, you could have had a very interesting triangle with Jack, Carly, and Molly.

I enjoyed that 1997 episode.... I don't know what the overall shape of the show at that time, but the episode was good. Margo was great in her breakdown, loved Lisa, all the Marlanda flashbacks, Molly/Jack, etc.

I think a lot of that had to do with HWs not knowing WTF to do with Molly. She ran the gamut from "wrongly imprisioned" to "batshit crazy". Molly kind of got neutered to hook her up with Jake a couple of years later. Carly and Molly rarely converged in the same story. They kind of interacted with separate spheres of characters.

I'm not really sorry, since the incestuousness of ATWT could be smothering at times. ;)

    • I agree. I really have enjoyed this story from the beginning. I feel like it needed the time for us to care about Doug. They've done a nice job of explaining his motives and making me care for him. I still feel like he's doomed and Vanessa will end up being a widow and now I'm invested in that *not* happening now that I've fallen for him. Friday was good but so was the entire week. I think they're doing such a nice job of keeping things moving. We got good movement with Bill's story this week, Chelsea is attempting to date, Andre and Dani are having tough conversations about their relationship, of course Anita reunited with Sharon. There is *so* much going on and I didn't even cover all of it.  I wish all of the soaps would take a page out of BTG book and start rotating their stories. I love that everybody is getting a chance to shine and they don't just sit on one lead story to the point you get sick of it.
    • Did Jordan Clarke have a departure sometime between 1985 and 1989? I know Robert Newman had three runs: 1981-1984, 1986-1991, 1993-end.
    • Well, they usually weren't on the show at the time for long until the late 90's. But yeah, they really deserved a story centered on them, and not through the lens of Reva.
    • Chelsea was doing the absolute most today! Why was she introducing her sister to a woman she doesnt know? That whole scene was embarrassing. Madison needs to stay away from her bc she is too immature
    • Gosh, what a waste with Lunacy. Why have her live with $B, reveal Finn, pardon her, etc What makes this story incredibly hollow is that what Luna is asking isn't unreasonable - to spend time with her cousin father. She's not asking to move in with them. How hard with it be for Finn to throw her a bone by, say, I'll meet you for lunch/coffee once at week at the hospital cafeteria. Lunacy isn't going to hurt Finn. In fact, all her crimes were related to finding her father and it turns out to be someone she's loved her entire life. Instead of course-correcting the nonsense of last summer, Brad somehow found a way to make this worse! That's a skill... Of all the younger actors B&B has cast during the past 5 years, LY has shown the most growth and range. Why get rid of her?
    • On the subject of sets (seems more interesting to discuss than the actual show)  Some sets we don't see anymore Lauren/Michael apartment (haven't seen that in years) Victoria's house (are Marian/Tessa living there?) Apartment above Crimson Lights (I think Chelsea was the last resident) Penthouse (Lily's home) Chancellor Estate (Devon/Abby) Chancellor office (once Dark Horse) Nick's house GCAC room (used as residence/hotel room for several characters) Some of these may pop up again. The tack house, for example, was not seen for many months before being used again. Have I missed anything?
    • Thanks for searching through everything. Worked on them so long, just too lazy to check for those links myself, so I am glad you chose to do it! I guess I never did type out anything for 1973-1977 in regards to the preemptions, but they are on the charts at least (and this far back, they don't seem to do any of those "breakouts" anymore, so things are simpler in the 1970's, so eventually I could type those out).
    • I dump on the Y&R sets problem all the time, but BOLD is no better -- and they're not even introducing new sets. All of their sets are years old, and very few look like they're inhabited by people with money. Is that going to change with this move? I'd rather they save the money spent on another remote, which is no better than an HGTV travelogue, and get some new/better sets.
    • The donut posts here make up for a Friday show that was barely meh. Aside from seeing Anna, I really didn't care much about anything else. While I understand the thought behind breaking up all the sadness with "other scenes," I'd rather they moved right to John's funeral. Instead of hearing a stupid story about John changing some minor character's tire 20 years ago, just move on to the crying. I also thought the Chad and Cat scenes were a waste. I realize not everyone is devastated by John's death to the point of not functioning, but going sky diving is a choice. By the way, Jack and Jennifer are giving me nothing on this return. Please leave asap. DAYS did such a great job with John's death, so ending the week this way was a letdown.
    • Add Dr. Montgomery to list of fine women on this show! I hope the show goes forward with Madison/Chelsea and then once they're developed, bring back Allison, who is now divorced or a widow, for a Madison/Chelsea/Allison triangle.  It would definitely be the hottest triangle in daytime.
