This is an article from the 2/27/98 issue of Soap News, which is pretty damning towards both the character of Molly and Leslie Kay. Molly was certainly a character I grew to love but I found her annoying her first year but it got better over time, but I don't remember it being this bad:

I didn't ever have a big problem with Lesli Kay, even in the early days. She was a little old school soap (quavering voice, big eyes) but she did what she could. Initially when Molly started, she got an OK reaction. Marlena de Lacroix named her as a newcomer to watch. Fans didn't seem to mind her, although I remember some comments saying they wanted to see more of another prison character (the woman who menaced Lily - I think she was a theater actress or the daughter of theater stars).

When she came to Oakdale and clutched that footprint 24/7, people began to hate her. Then the idiotic schemes to get Holden just spiraled out of control. The low point was her trying to drop a gargoyle on Lily. Or the church stuff.

FMB just kept showing her characters constantly, and trying to fix or change them. Molly was on constantly in those years. She made a decent couple with David Allen, but I think fans only began to warm to her more when she was with Andy. This was then thrown out the window for the affair with Reid, which certainly worked well for Lesli and Keith Colouris in real life, but which disgusted fans and led to such anger that when Colouris was fired, he blamed Internet posters.

People hated Molly for the first year or so. It was weird, how suddenly people started to not hate her.

The single DVD sets have one issue, the disk is hard to get out for some reason. Other single DVDs I own are easy to take in and out, but the ATWT and GL ones not so much. I did not have a problem with the multi sets. I also thought it was strange how the large GL set has a white banner border around the cover.

BTW have the Carjack sets started shipping yet?

That story was awful. Goutman seemed to not want Bryce back as if that decision was forced onto him by someone. So they wrote Craig so awfully. The quad was boring and tedious. The day Craig gave Meg some drug to make her lose her baby was despicable writing which I assumed at the time was meant to destroy the character of Craig forever. And yet I felt sorry for CRAIG. Only Scott Bryce could pull that off. The audience should have hated him for doing that. ATWT just did not want a humanized Craig in the last 10 years. I saw him go from bad to reformed and yet still flawed, a multi-dimensional fascinating and rootable character. It was a brilliant Emmy worthy portrayal by Scott Bryce, and then to see Craig come back and be so snide and cartoonish was hard for me as a fan. I can understand why people liked Hunt in the role, especially if they never saw Craig before. Hunt was playing it exactly how ATWT wanted him to at the time. It just wasn't for me. Plus, aside from Sierra, Craig's relationships with Lucinda and Lily were some of my faves and they never even tried to do that justice.

The episode is from Tuesday, June 29, 1999. Monday's episode is when Carly pulls him in there after Jack sees Reid propose to Julia, and Wednesday, they wake up and almost make love, only to be interrupted by Hal, Barbara and their wedding planner.

      I don't expect Lois to be the same person she was 25 years ago, but she's definitely lost a lot of what made Lois unique.  It's clear the show doesn't know how to write for her, and the sole purpose of Lois is to hide this Gio secret.  It's a shame she doesn't interact with more of the canvas.  It's a waste of Rena's talents. I like Brook Kerr most of the time.  She can be hit or miss.  I totally get what you are saying about her line readings too.  I honestly think the character really suffers being stuck in the Curtis pairing.  She's much better than Tanisha Harper's Jordan lol.

      Friday and yesterday's episode is what daytime television should be. The other shows airing could take a page from yesterday's show.  I loved the rage, hurt and anger Nicole unleashed on Ted.  Daphnee should be up for an Emmy nom for these scenes.  It broke my heart to see how Dana had locked Eva out.  I do feel sorry for Eva.    I am still bumfuzzled as to why Leslie/Dana went to the DuPree's and asked them to accept Kat UNLESS Eva is really Kat's twin (and really Nicole and Ted's daughter that maybe they though they lost or an embryo Dana/Leslie stole??) I loved how Anita and Vernon both shot her down.    Ohhh and let me just say Friday and yesterday was the MOST fire I have seen Martin have since the show started.  Maybe Brandon Clayborn is coming into his own with the role finally.

      Where to for Dana? She's pissed off the Duprees (most of the cast), alienated her daughter and will she be welcomed by the Have Nots at the diner? Maybe she can befriend Ashley and Derek and liven up their story.

      I think of Evan as a smarmy bast*rd. Maybe you'll like that description. You certainly have him pegged correctly since he is just a soldier following "Admiral" Iris's marching orders.

      So far the only interest I've seen from Evan to Amanda has been listening to Iris's orders to go and seduce her.  So far he hasn't been successful... but who knows. Amanda is unbearable at times. Entitled, spoiled... idiotic. Iris... so blatantly manipulating her and Amanda takes the bait. But I guess... when she gets in trouble... she'll have a chance to learn. That's what makes these shows so interesting.    Oh, no, don't worry. You haven't ruined a thing. Evan has not been on my radar that much... he was not one of the characters I was caring particularly... so nothing much has been changed for me. I don't think he has the stuff to ruin Rachel's life. He's just a pretty guy that can follow orders. Iris on the other hand... is dangerous.

      The show has gone back to 10/10 entertainment! I'm glad that I was right in feeling that what were experiencing were growing pains. I'm sure they are not over yet, but I'll know that we always comeback to quality drama. I think it's going to be a hell of ride (in a good way) from this moment on. BTG has that magic that not a lot of shows have. I'll update more... when I'm done catching up.

      So very glad to hear this. Yesterday I suddenly thought; OMG, what about spoilers, have I just  ruined things for Maxim in getting carried away with interest in Evan, who was so well-written & well-acted. BTW, your fan review of this episode was a sight for eyes that had not seen one of these for a little bit too long, LOL!!!  Mitch is also fascinating to me but in his case it's because he was all in with Janice & her nefarious plan & then he did this turnabout we've mentioned & he basically got off scot-free.
