I agree with you 100%.

And to follow up what you're saying, what burns me up about this so-called actress is that, after bragging about being in the genre for 20+ years... you'd think she'd know better than to believe her own hype. But she doesn't. And that's just what's so gross about her (disclaimer: LW the actress, not LW the person. I don't know the woman -- nor do I care to -- nor have I met her at a fan event where she was soooo nice to me during the 45 seconds she took a picture with me). Interview after interview, she lacks humility. Michael Logan my be totally dumbfounded by the fact that she has not even ONE Emmy nomination in 20 years. However, considering the Daytime Emmys are a popularity contest... and the person in question is as arrogant as ever... could there be a correlation?

Back back to the point, the Carly scenes in yesterday's (10/11) episode were written to attempt to show Carly's vulnerability (I agree with what bellcurve alluded to in terms of these scenes having a REAL an original 90's Carly vulnerability feel to them), but they were performed as if it was some petulant brat afraid that Brender was going to get the bigger piece of ice cream cake at her birthday party, and mommy and daddy needed to make sure that didn't happen or else they didn't love her as much as they love Brender. Fully equipped with pouting, foot stomping and arm folding. If an actor who knew anything about subtext and character development were to look at these scenes, they would see and most likely play up the angle that Carly isn't just on the surface: "Oh no! Brenduh's gon' steals muh mens!" but Carly is terribly afraid that Brenda's presence is going to shine a light on all of her flaws. The men in her life will see all the warts and realize what Carly's felt all along... that she's not good enough. And that's what terrifies her.

Then again, when you have an arrogant, untrained actress who never had to work for anything in her career playing a role that requires the ability to convey insecurity, fear of disapproval and rejection, feelings of being an outsider... this is what you get. Surface emotion.

I'm done. Yum, that felt goooood! cool.gif

Gotta love Carlers. dry.gif

Because look:

TV Guide

TV Guide Magazine: Carly wears her heart, along with her bitterness, jealousy and outrage, on her sleeve and doesn't give a crap what anyone else thinks. No other character in soaps is so daringly transparent — or as hilariously annoying. Ever worry about taking it too far?

Wright: I have no problem playing the green-eyed monster. I love it! Because I believe women do feel that way and act that way. They all do. Turn on Jerry Springer. I think women are capable of absolutely anything given the situation. And, by the way, these aren't real people. They are soap-opera characters which means we have even more latitude and an even wider spectrum to play. Some actors say, "I don't want to do such-and-such because it will hurt my character." Well, give me the stuff others won't play! I want to go to work, enjoy my day and have a good time. I don't worry that there's damage being done to my character. Carly doesn't need protecting. She's way out there and that's what makes her fun.

TV Guide Magazine: Do you relate to Carly when she's at her worst?

Wright: Of course! I'm pulling from experiences from my own life here. I know what it feels like to be terrified that the guy you're in love with wants to be with another woman. I really, really know that feeling. [She suddenly stops herself.] I'm not referring to the guy I'm married to, by the way. [Laughs] Let's make sure we put that ought there! Whoopsie.

TV Guide Magazine: Feminists would likely view Carly's overt bitchery as demeaning and self-defeating — hardly the image of an empowered woman Discuss!

Wright: What you are saying is just bulls--t to me. I'm not here to sell Carly as the person we all should be. I'm here to tell stories. I'm thrilled that Carly is constantly miserable. When you're happy on a soap opera, you're boring. Carly owns her obnoxiousness. She's unapologetic. Why would I put my own ego into it? The story works.

These flashback scenes with Brenda/Dante aren't really looking like flashbacks to me. They are edited/look like they are brand new scenes that are just apart of the show like the other scenes are. I think they should have a more "flashbackish" look to them.

My only problem is that Brender looks the same, while Dante's appearance is different. They could've at least curled her hair or something.

Did anyone else feel like the scenes between VM and MB were awkward as hell. My friend and I who doesn't usually watch soaps sat there and were just like...what the hell is with all this dead air..It felt like they were competing to see who could take the longest to remember their line.

I don't know, but that mess comes out of nowhere. It's the most... shall I say... unnatural "laugh" I've ever heard. That's no hyperbole. I swear it almost punches you in the face!

Brenda and Dante! Loving the flashbacks of them!! LOL @ Dante taking that chocolate, and saying he wanted to bring it home to Olivia, aww ;-). I never really like Dante, but I find him enjoyable with her. Looking forward to more scenes with them in the present.

Brenda and Sonny..... well at least i got some extra, much needed sleep today during their scenes.

The only thing that can save Siobhan at this point is if she revealed that her accent is fake and that she's an undercover agent as well.

ITA....especially about the accent part.

Ugh Suzanne cover up ur cleavage. Please!

I know right!!? Seriously!! Can she please put on a turtleneck rolleyes.gif

Luke(to Tracy about cavorting with hookers on her dime): They were legitimate models.

Of course Luke. Bel Ami Studios is a legitimate "modeling" gig.

Claire, do yourself a favor and sit your ass down

Fucc that! Hypocrite or not, Bitch!Claire has returned and she's out for blood. I'll enjoy every last moment until Guza kills her off during February sweeps.

I honestly cant even take her seriously anymore. She is a complete and utter joke and this is coming from someone that loved her. She'll be lucky to make it to Feb sweeps, bc Im guessing she willget taken out by the Balkan who mistakes her for Brenda.

Have their been any Brenda and Sam scenes yet? I really want to hear the mumble off these two have.

They met on Brenda's first or 2nd day back in town. I think they had another scene after that one
