September 25, 201015 yr Member Sad. He has such candor, doesn't he, and his words are so striking, even in this type of interview. Before I saw City on the Edge of Forever I'd heard so much about it I assumed it was overrated, but it's one of the most powerful and moving TV works ever, and also has a great soapy, melodramatic current, the unabashed emotion which so many now sneer at and replace with cynicism or macho theatrics. I hope all those who sneer at the old Trek as being oh so unhip might watch episodes like City someday. It's that very lack of desperate, squealing blandness that makes it so special. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-3RcRaRwnc&feature=related
September 25, 201015 yr Member Ellison is a talented writer. City on the Edge of Forever is one of the best of the classic Star Trek episodes. I wish I could go to this MadCon to say farewell to Ellison. The panel is composed of some talented Sci Fi writers. It would be great to listen to them speak.
September 25, 201015 yr Member That Star Trek episode was great, but all soap fans (or fans of bad melodrama) should check out his classic for all the wrong reasons, "The Oscar"
