What's with the bullsh!t Maura West blurb? Agenda-pushing Be-yotch! Sorry, but this is Maura West, not Jeff Branson, Eden Riegel, Marcy Rylan, Michael Muhney or Stacy Haiduk. This is our generation's Bev McKinsey & those bitches at Y&R should be so lucky as to have her.

The Young And The Restless does Stunt Casting Also. Young And Restless Casts John Driscol and Jeff Bransom who were on Guiding Light Together and Eden Riegel and Elizabeth Hendrickson who were on All My Children WITH Jeff Bransom. Eden and Elizabeth were Lesbian Lovers on All My Children, but now They are Fighting over the Same Man. Jody

Who didn't know "insiders" would be bitching with a 2 time Emmy winner moving into their 'hood? From the moment I heard about it, I mentally heard the pre-Emmy nom bitching in my head. Not for this year, but next. Either Maura will take a spot someone else "earned" while Maura's coasting in the role, or she won't get one because the Y&R cast doesn't like her.

Yeah, Y&R does stunt casting...which drove me nuts on ATWT. And Emmys don't prove anything (my aversion to SarahFBrown proves that..) And the Bev McKinsey comparison might be overkill. But Maura's proven she brings it every day. She's slogged through years of Sheffer's and Pissy's hackdom. If that didn't destroy her ability to deliver, nothing could.

Oh, please. I vomit at the very notion that she can pull off anything besides her 15-year-old Janet Leigh imitation. "Our generation's Beverly McKinsey." I laugh and laugh and laugh. And then I vomit.

This is really a good question. Maura has played the same role for so long can she break out of the ticks and habits that she has developed over the years? This is the real problem that good soap actors have when doing a new role. The writing will also help or harm her efforts. Diane isn't much different from Carly when it comes to scheming so Sheffer will likely merge the two characters until it becomes Carly completely.

My question is what happens when she's on a show that doesn't actually have characters? Look at how bored and vacuous Stephen Nichols has been. Or Eden Reigel's belly flop. They are playing nothing.

The show is probably the worst of any daytime drama in the past year or two of actually creating new characters.

I stopped watching Y&R before Eden was on the show, so I can't quite make the comparison. I do know, however, that my not watching Y&R has nothing to do with Y&R's actorial talent, whereas Carly's presence was at least equally responsible (with the scheissful writing) for my giving up ATWT back in the '90s (the only reason I came back was Nuke). MW/Carly represents the beginning of the end of Oakdale like no other single, pointable-to influence.

    • Yes, of course, all of those servants added to the overall picture at AW & also people had relationships with those servants! I like it when Anita asks after one of the servants at the club, how their children are doing & like that.
    • Great scenes between Marlena and EJ today. Paula and Jeanne are making EJ have more depth than Ron had during his long drawn out tenure.
    • Might as well say it, Minority opinion, granted, but I like Joss & I'm okay with this WSB story & i hope that Emma will be their next recruit & she & Joss can be partners.
    • Thanks again @Paul Raven  The Arlene/Ben/Betsy triangle is one I wish I could see for myself as on paper it doesn't tend to excite me but I can see how well-constructed it was. I wish I could see the Rick/Meg relationship too, although I wish they'd had him genuinely fall for Meg after he gets together with Cal. The whole Brooke/Deacon/Bridget story on B&B was horribly damaging to Brooke as a character but it was dramatically very sound because I could completely believe Deacon would fall for messy and vulnerable Brooke after finally settling down with the more docile Bridget.

    • According to the head writer list, it seems the show may have started to fall apart while either the Schneiders or Upton were writing.  And when it started to crumble, it crumbled fast.  It was sad to see everything Labine had brought to LOL be disassembled.

Welcome back!!! And I see Abe and Paulina got a new apartment too, which is just a redress of John/Marlena’s, Steve/Kayla’s, etc. But it looks kinda nice. And I enjoyed his scenes with Chanel. It added another perspective to everything that’s been going on with her and Johnny. And Abe using his own history with Lexie to comfort Chanel was a good idea. Plus, it also provided us with more suspicion/red herring about Johnny possibly shooting EJ. I’m looking forward to see what happens between her and Johnny. And I’m so glad that the two of them are on the frontburner now.  Speaking of Johnny, I still have no problem with him going to work for Titan. The drama could be so good, especially once EJ finds out. To me, it seems like another realistic reaction to everything that’s been happening to Johnny lately. It doesn’t seem random and over the top either. And I like that they remembered to have Johnny tell Xander that he has no corporate experience whatsoever. Surprisingly, the two of them work well together. And so do Carson and Deidre. I love how the Marlena/Johnny relationship has been featured so much.  Kayla was still strong and kicking ass today too. The writer change has helped her/Mary Beth so much. But I do admit we should’ve seen Steve trying to get into Dr. Russell’s lab rather than Kayla instructing him over the phone.  And unfortunately, Chad and Cat still don’t seem to be doing much for me though. The cliffhanger was ok too.   Btw, Days was trending at #4 this morning on Peacock
    • There was a huge outcry when we learned that JFP intended to off Donna.
