ALL: Saddest Soap Moments

How obnoxious is that big ol' Y&R bar promo thingy over the heater and plug...

That was so well-done, especially that ceiling shot of the debris falling on the camera.

Never saw that ghost Mary scene before, Rosie O'Donnell talked about it on her show when she had Kate on.

It's such a moving episode. Kate Mulgrew can do so much with a simple look.

Emmerdale, baby Daniel dies. Charlotte Bellamy (his mother Laurel), just one of the most harrowing soap performances ever.

Another Y&R sad death was when Tricia shot Ryan on his wedding day.

Poor Tricia. She was a great character in the end.

I also thought Phillip's death scenes were moving, but hey, Y&R said that doesn't count anymore, so why bother posting them.

This doesn't have much of an impact on me but it was iconic for a generation of British soap watchers. The death of Damon Grant, on the show that changed British soap forever, Brookside:

Brookside had a ton of deaths, were there any you thought were moving, Amello?

A few other Emmerdale moments which sadly don't seem to be on Youtube:

When Ashley and Laurel went to court to gain custody of their biological son, Arthur, who had been given accidentally to Mel and Greg Doland (their biological child was the late baby Daniel). The beginning of the episode had Kate Bush's brilliant "This Woman's Work", and one of the last scenes was Mel sinking to her knees, weeping at the loss of her son.

Matthew King's funeral, which was so hard to watch, between drunken Jimmy raging at the funeralgoers for only caring when his brother is already gone, Carl talking about how Matthew had never been the same after their mother's death, and that last scene of Matthew's fiance, Anna, driving by and seeing Jimmy trying to bury his brother's corpse.

I don't know about the LAST time a soap made me cry. Probably a tear or two at Alice's memorial....And I cried when Ashley gave Faith back to Sharon.

And of course a few years ago when Carly found out Michael was "dead"...Wow, heartbreaking performance by Tamara Braun.

And Maxie's eulogy at Georgie's funeral....I was SO pissed that they ruined Felicia like this....But I thought Kirsten was outstanding and deserved the Emmy that year...

I am technologically illiterate. Is it possible for someone to post the clip where dying Jennifer says goodbye to her parents, Hal and Barbara, on ATWT? It's the saddest moment for me on soaps. Thanks.

To me one of the saddest soap moments was the passing of John Abbott. I felt that Y&R should of kept him, he is one of the foundations of the show.

Y&R hates the Abbotts, they hate history, they hate family. If John were alive today he would be recast with Gary Owens.

If John were alive today he would be recast with Gary Owens.

Or Jon Lindstrom.
