August 10, 201015 yr Member She's been weak for a long time. She gets by on presence and her looks. I think she was OK for a while but by the end of her first stint she was not good. It's funny, because they hype her with all these dead weight leading men, but the only time I remember her making an effort in her later years was with women. Sarah Brown, Crystal Carson, Kimberly McCullough, Jennifer Hetrick. All her scenes with men, especially Jax, were beyond phoned in. Tamara's Carly was such a damn puppet for Sonny and had no other life outside of him. Even when Sarah Brown's Carly got with Sonny, she was still able to keep a lot of her personality in tact. +1 to both of you.....
August 10, 201015 yr Member I think they consciously knew that they had to make Carly milder and more soft with the recast, because Sarah Brown was so popular in the role, so for people to gradually like the recast, they had to whitewash the character and turn her into some one-note tragic heroine (which did start to work eventually).
August 10, 201015 yr Member All these characters who are either dead and/or long forgotten And seeing young and blond SJB reminds me of the first time me and my sister saw her on the show and both screamed "CAITLYN?!" really loud and scared our Grandma
August 10, 201015 yr Member I can't believe I forgot how abusive Sonny was even way back then. Yeah, yeah Brenda wore a wire, but he was overly verbally abusive towards her
August 10, 201015 yr Member Here are clips from her return tomorrow http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2010/08/general-hospital-sneak-a-peek-at-vanessa-marcil-giovinazzos-return.html
August 10, 201015 yr Member Jax turned on Brenda in a hot second for that Miranda girl. Wow, and after everything Brenda said to him before that!

I think that's why I got so excited when Laura Wright first started out as Carly, because we finally got to see her do something other than obey Sonny or be some tragic heroine. The problem is that "bitch" is the only thing Laura Wright can play. And not very effectively. I'd never want Tamara Braun back as Carly, but Laura Wright isn't doing it for me. I think the best thing for the character at this point is death or once-a-month/once-a-week appearances.
August 10, 201015 yr Member I skipped most of the episodes today...I can watch the late 70s and 80s GH and even some of the 90s but seeing what I remember watching at the time and knowing how much Guza has desecrated is just too much for me.
August 10, 201015 yr Member Jax turned on Brenda in a hot second for that Miranda girl. Wow, and after everything Brenda said to him before that! Leslie Horan is ugly. And a terrible actress. WTF was Teschner thinking?
August 10, 201015 yr Member And to think she was going to be a Cassadine... Actually she'd be one of the livelier members of that family today.
August 10, 201015 yr Member Can longtime GH fans fill me in on something...was the 2PM EST episode exactly the way it played out when it originally aired or did ABC add in clips, generic music and completely butcher the episode? I have a hard time believing Stefan and Katherine were the only other story that day and only having three scenes too?! I also have a difficult time believing Wendy Riche would ever approve such dreadful background music for those flashbacks. That episode was boring as hell. Nothing happened. It worked as a clip show to highlight Sonny and Brenda's relationship but fails as a stand alone epsiode without the story and the context behind it. I thought they were going to air the previous episode where Sonny actually stands her up. That would have been more entertaining
August 10, 201015 yr Member Ugh this Sonny/Brenda episode=BORING! I can't wait for the Brenda/Jason one
August 10, 201015 yr Member They should have aired the broken wedding to Sonny where it rains. They already aired the broken wedding to Jax, and will air the business arranged comedy wedding to Jason, so why not stick with the wedding theme in the Sonny episode? I guess they just wanted viewers to see some classic flashbacks between Brenda and Sonny...
