WHAT!? This is crazy. Eric's in two of my all-time favorite movies, Star 80 and The Pope of Greenwich Village ("THEY TOOK MY THUMB CHAHHH-LEEEEEEEEE!!!").

As for the comments re: Eric's face, he smashed it into a tree back in the early '80s. He was in his Jeep, driving from his girlfriend, the late great Sandy Dennis's house out in Westport and her dog went to jump out and he reached to grab it and three days later woke up in a hospital bed a character actor.

Not that she'd even answer his phone call. J/K (I think  ), up until recently they'd been estranged for at least two decades, though Julia did have a relationship with his daughter, actress Emma Roberts. I think the falling out had to do with his substance abuse problem and related stuff that went down back in the day.

Or, perhaps his agent has a good working relationship with someone at Y&R.

You should be surprised to see how much of hollywood is connected through agents. Furthermore, its surprising to see how many of these actors from otuside prjects coming to soaps share an agent.

why is it that oh, franco is an addict and needs gh to pay his bills and roberts is broke and needs a little change so hes doing Y&R and other actors cant get work so they scrape the bottom of the barrel for soaps, but when someone like betty white does it everyone just says ok? because we know more about betty, we know shes well off and not broke. nothing to sepcualte about. i dont get what makes people think they know so much about an actors finances, when they do not. If this was Lindsay Lohan, sure, it would make since. But to say people liek Franco & Roberts are broke and thats why they are sinking so low is just... why? what did you base this off? Have you seen some of the movies and shows Roberts has been on recently? They are as bad, if not worse, than Y&R.

There's nothing glittery about Eric Roberts at all. The people who would recognize him don't watch Y&R. I can just hear my aunt now..."Ain't that the one who played in *insert random movie that she saw him in on Spike or USA or...*shudder* a local station...one Saturday afternoon*?"

Same thing for Sean damn Young.

Betty White and Franco were the only two in the last few years who were well-matched to a show and its audience. Betty would have been even better on ATWT if it didn't suck.

LOL at your aunt AMS.

JP has a point, and believe it or not, regardless of their comfy financial situations some actors really do in fact enjoy acting. Doing a soap is an interesting challenge and good money along the way, especially if you're from primetime or the movies (even if you're a solid C-lister) and the show's kissing your ass and your agent's pushing your (arguable) cache. Look at Joan van Ark, but with the disagreements and her OCD theatre approach to the work, it didn't work out.

I just imagined Eddie Winslow cleaning a glass and doing that *gotcha!* thing with his fingers to the camera.

This just in:

Tawny Kitaen IN as Jill Foster Abbott!!

This just in:

Omarosa Manigeault Stallworth IN as Drucilla Winters!

Pamela Anderson IN as "little" Abbie Carlton

I figure the show will next start mining reality stars and ex Baywatch stars.

What kills me is that Eric Roberts is playing a temporary lawyer role on Y&R?? This guy can't even nail primetime gigs? Or maybe a parent role on a CW show? What about horror films?

    • In the 2nd semi-final, I enjoyed Denmark and Luxembourg (plus France) the most. I was also positively surprised by Germany's performance, because usually our performances are ... well, lackluster, to put it nicely. The one country I did not expect to qualify was Armenia, but yeah, the staging probably helped a lot, because the song itself is just noise in my ears. I thought Serbia would make it instead. None of the Balkan countries made it to the Grand Final (first time since 2013), while all the Nordics and Baltics qualified. Recap of the 2nd semi-final:

    • I don't think they were prepared for Sherry Mathis to exit. I think the scripts were written well in advance and they didn't expect her to go. Louanne was on the very next episode and a terrible recast.  Erwin Nicholson made the same mistake in casting with Nicole on Edge but they gave the character some weeks or months rest before they brought in Jayne Bentzen, I believe.  As I stated above, in rewatching these posted episodes, I am making a guess that Mayer/Braxton wrote many weeks in advance because of the Spring 85 writers' strike.  While the strike lasted only two weeks, SFT is the only P&G soap that had writer credits through the two weeks of air shows that included the strike weeks. I also am guessing that Mayer was signed to a six month minimum (soaps typically have actors and writers on 13 week contracts) and Mayer was fired exactly at 26 weeks from the day his material first started airing.  He was a disaster for the show and Erwin was tired and not what the show needed although scoring Lambie as Lloyd was his top achievement (he lasted a little less than 1 year).

    • I think Steve and Shawn track down Kevin and Jeffrey gives them one dose on the sly in exchange for keeping it quiet. John's organs will go to Bo. We know he's not really coming home. Xander won't make the board meeting so EJ will get the hospital by default. And Kate will tell Xander that Sarah lied to him precisely because she feared he would do something like this to Philip  Those are my Friday predictions! Was a good show. I felt Philip's fear in that last scene.

I guess Susan was necessary today, but I really wish she’d leave. Marlena putting EJ on blast about Belle was pretty good though, and I hope they continue to use Marlena in their storyline. I’m interested in seeing what happens to EJelle in the aftermath of the John storyline. And I really wish we were seeing Paul and Andrew moving in on John’s location. If they can’t get Christopher Sean on the show, they should at least try to get Colton Little.  I liked how smart Xander was today and that he immediately that Philip stole the drug. He did a pretty good job in his scenes where he confronted Philip as well. I also appreciate the way that Philip’s been written lately; more like a tragic hero than a bratty, goofy clown. Which is all the more reason that I hope the triangle with Stephanie and Alex is revived. But Xander did seem a little overly melodramatic in his last scene though And, I can’t help but think that Dr. Russell being so hesitant about involving the police in the drug theft could be a sign of something.
