Hehe. I bowed out of this past season...outside of Part 1 of the Reunion. This is good tea for me.

But I agree that he was slowly stepping back from Dorit for a while even before last season.

Exactly. I guess it IS who you know.

None of this is a surprise. The rumors in the US and UK indicate a separate marriage for some time. PK basically spent most of 2020 in London while she was in LA with the kids. He loves the night-life, casinos, bars, booze, wheeling-and-dealing, and especially gambling. I don't think Dorit enjoys the precarity of a life one step ahead of creditors, whoever runs Vegas these days, or the IRS. I had a feeling the Marriage Breakup SL was actually meant to be hers last season, until Kyle said "Hold my beer."

So now Dorit can discuss it this season. The only problem is, Dorit lies like she breathes. Even I believe elements of Kyle's story about her marriage. I rarely believe something Dorit says, unless Jagger and Phoenix say it first.

NJ

A good follow up to last week's premiere. Unlike the last season of Potomac, which was a total flop bar the last episode, there is a simmering tension on NJ that is going to sustain this season and make it feel exciting.

Production exaggerated when they said that Teresa and Melissa were not going to film together - we're two episodes in a row where they are at the same event. They simply don't interact and that's fine by me.

Teresa: those lips are poorly injected and have lost any hint of natural shape.  Her discussion with Jenn Fessler at the end of the episode is understandable, given she's trying to figure out what 'the plan' against her was for the reunion. Unfortunately, whenever Teresa has to think, it's going to be difficult.

Jenn Aydin: nice to see some of her kids, including the iconic Olivia. Not surprised that Bill is not appearing. I think he has stepped back from the show and the exposure. I liked seeing her friendly with Marge.

Marge: enjoyed seeing her friendly with Jenn Aydin. Enjoyed seeing her with the Gorgas at their Shore house. They have always gotten along nicely.

Danielle: nice event for her husband and it's nice to see her getting along with Rachel. They are wise to align with each other.

Rachel: I like that she could move on and be friends with Danielle. Seeing Jenn Fessler ditch her for colluding with Teresa, you could see the wheels turning that she's been suckered.

Jenn Fessler: beautiful plastic surgery and Ozempic work. But she's a snake and as fair weather a friend as there is. She jumped to spill information to Teresa faster than I've ever seen another housewife change sides. Not admirable. She wants a full time spot on this show so badly. The thirst is real with this one.

Delores: virtually nothing from her this season aside from the scene where she discussed the importance of being financially independent (true!).

Melissa: she has a lovely family. They all seem to really like each other and have fun. The moment where her gay cousin acknowledged how Joe Gorga embraced him and his fiancé was really nice.  It's a reminder Joe has his sweet and gentle side. But ouch was she bothered by Teresa's presence at the party. As Camille Donnatacce Grammer Meyer would say: you lose, [Melissa].

Why is anyone on that cast shocked about Jenn Fessler? Jenn was friends with Siggy before she moved to being friends with Marge. We all know she did that b/c Marge has some power over production in recent years. Now, Jenn is hitching her wagon to Tre after seasons of not being made full-time. She knows what she is doing--hoping onto team Tre to get that full-time spot. Nothing wrong with that. And I am pretty sure Tre/Jenn A. know what she is doing too. That's why MeLiar and Granny Marge shouldn't be too mad. They wanted to weaponize Jenn F. but to no avail.

I am ready for Jackie to come into play b/c Jackie knows where all the bodies lie. And unlike Tre, Jackie surpasses them in intelligence and can control her emotions. They should fear her and Jenn F. Together, those two could outmaneuver Marge/Rachel/MeHo.

Could be the makings of an amazing season if things pop off.

@Cat do you remember Amanda de Cadenet? She was a UK tabloid figure for a time and hosted some breakfast TV shows for a while.

Seeing Eva La Rue - St. Maria of Wildwind, tending to the sick in her push up bra - is fun, though I hope she's ready for Vyle.

I do know who Amanda de Cadenet is: a wild child It Girl who hosted a Friday night show called The Word in the mid-90s. Years before that, though, we apparently went to the same elementary school. And I've met her brother -- an LA artist who moved back to London. He's a good guy.

Amanda reminded me (looks-wise) of a young Caroline Stanbury back in the day, and I bet they (and Caprice) knew each other in the 90s. She moved with John Taylor of Duran Duran fame to LA; he later married the founder of the brand Juicy Couture. ADC is still active in LA social circles where she has calmed down, gotten sober, and become a bit new-agey. I hope she still has some bite in her when it comes to Kyle.

Eva LaRue is a firecracker, and still close with Kelly Ripa and Sarah Michelle Gellar from her AMC days. I think she'd be a great addition to BH. Eat your heart out, Rinna!

NY

I've continuing my binge of nuNY. I've made it to Erin's anniversary party and its aftermath.

Can I just say that so far...I like all the husbands. I see why Erin and her man are constantly having babies...lol. He just seems like that strong silent type that is a gentleman in public, but behind closed doors WOOF!!! lol. Jessel's man seems like an adorable geek and not ugly by any means. And Sai's man totally matches her energy and at the same time blends in so well with her personality. I see why they are together.

I find the group as a group very fascinating to watch. See how they were acting at the anniversary party. Partly like friends. Partly kinda rude friends. lol. And Sai with the food. And then they had that little event thing where it did feel like a gang-up on Erin which is funny since Erin came in there loaded to bear. While I understand where Erin was coming from...GURLLL, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? Sai had already established herself as a no-nonsense woman so it did not surprise me at all that she gathered Erin with the quickness.

So Erin tried to make it about Brynn. And Brynn didn't back down, either. And I saw both sides of that argument. Because in a way...Brynn for all of her Brooke Davis by way of Rachel persona...should have known that joke or not...her taunting with Erin's husband was in poor taste. On the other hand, Erin should have known...especially since everyone else at the table knew...that's how Brynn always is. So it can't be taken that seriously. So, why, did you take it seriously, Erin? Some hidden insecurity or just her way of starting a feud to be relevant on the show? Hmmm.

And it seems I'm at the midpoint of the season judging from the promo. So where are the ladies standing?

UBAH. I hate to say it, but it feels like she has just vanished. This last episode...she was there in Gizelle Bryant's phone.

 Just...wow.

JENNA. Still giving me icon. Sorry, not sorry. lol. If there's anything I'm noticing, it's that she is a sniper from the side kind of Housewife. And no one seems to have clocked that. YET. I am still not understand why the other girls are pressed with her about her social life. Also yet. Because she actually has been a housewife so far to the audience. She is showing her life. She is mixing it up a little bit. She has family to film with, too...if not as much as the others. And it seems clear, she is just...shy. And she's explained why she's shy. It just feels like they want her to open up sooner than she feels comfortable doing. And I can't say I like that.

ERIN. Well, I can't say she doesn't give us the good, the bad, and the ugly so far. Like Jenna, I feel she's showing her life as well. Her and Sai definitely do come across as friends...and all the things that come along with it. And I liked her sit-down with Jessel so she has someone to mix it up with. But post-sit-down, it's clear she saw Jessel isn't an easy target so she was going to have to go at someone else. Unfortunately for her, most of the cast ARE NEW YORKERS. You might think you are a bull, but so is half of the cast. Her storm-out after Sai gathered her and Brynn really paid her dust and no one else really had her back outside of Jenna was hilarious. Meanwhile...I loved her anniversary party.

JESSEL. She is sloooowwly coming out of her own shell. Her marriage is definitely not what it seems. But...it makes sense to me. I cannot believe to tell you how many couples...married or not...who go through fertility issues or intimacy issues after kids...so it's difficult for them to rediscover how they were before. It's why it was a sore spot for Jessel with Jenna's gift. They still have a long way to go I suspect. And the girls are not helping. In fact, I would think they would be more sympathetic...whether Jessel is being a princess or not.

SAI. I admit. At my former hotel job, we were known to get the heads-up when an incoming influencer was coming in. I took it with a grain of salt...though the few I've met were good folk. So it was nice to see behind the curtain with Sai. And what it takes to be one. She definitely appears self-made and takes it seriously. And that I can respect. Her family life fits her well. And regardless of her tough exterior, it does seem she has a heart. BUT...she IS NOT a pushover. Could she use a little more...hmm tact? YES. lol. Cuz her and food...lmao. She does not play. But she also ain't going to be a scapegoat for Erin's insecurities so I enjoyed her gathering Erin...friend or not.

BRYNN. They could never make me hate you...LOL. Team Brynn in her fight with Erin though I do understand Erin's side. I was like the rest of the girls. It seems like this flirty persona she has on screen is the same off so Eric should not have taken it seriously. Her husband didn't. That said...I hope it doesn't mean that when Brynn needs to be accountable for something more...serious...she can own it. Time will tell.

    • I think they’re desperately trying to cover his awful tattoos. But anyway them being unable to style short kings properly has been a major pet peeve of mine for a while now.  I honestly don’t understand what some people expect from actors to even begin considering them for recognition. Let’s be real—awards mostly mean that an actor is respected by their peers and has some level of cultural relevance. Actual judgment on the acting itself? That’s often secondary—highly subjective and shaped by the times. I completely agree on both points. If you’re an actor or a dancer you shouldn’t get any tattoos (sorry not sorry). Tomas’ tattoos are ugly too. And regarding the couples- you’re completely right. These writers are unable to write romance.   Further comments: - Kat cannot be this dumb to keep tampering with evidence over and over again. And I’m officially not a fan of the actress—every time she’s in a scene with Leslie, she doesn’t seem intimidated at all. She plays it like comic relief, which is just too much, especially when paired with Leslie’s histrionics and over-the-top antics. Leslie is older, dangerous, and has literally been portrayed as homicidal—Kat should be at least a little scared. • I also didn’t like Kat playing damsel in distress with the hotel manager. It gave off the same weird energy as Dani with the cop. I would’ve much preferred the version Paul Raven suggested, with her sneaking in through housekeeping. • And yes, Dani again accused Hayley of faking the pregnancy—this time even specifying she might be using a pillow under her shirt. (No fake miscarriage being mentioned) I stand by my take: this is ridiculous writing. No one in the real world—except us, the chronically online soap watchers—would even think of such a conspiracy theory. Haley is no Beyoncé. • What in the world was Chelsea wearing in her hair the other day? And this whole thing with Madison is beyond cringe. Chelsea’s coming off as needy and toxic—basically like every other Dupree. • I’m glad the casino storyline is moving forward, but it’s still boring as hell. Honestly, I’d be so here for a plot twist where Vanessa and Doug take Joey out. • The direction and editing lately have been rough. Abrupt cuts, weird pacing… something just feels off overall. There’s a strange uneasiness to how it’s all coming together. • And finally: Tomas is too much of a saint. Where are the messy sluts when you need them? (Vanessa doesn’t count.)
    • I was watching some August 1987 episodes and they brought back so many memories. I had some thoughts: Lisa and Jamie were so dull. Lisa was such a nothing character. It boggles my mind that so much story was centered around her in such a short amount of time. Joanna Going is a talented actress, but the material was just not there.  It was so good to see Wallingford and Mitch again. I know there was talk about Felicia a while back, but these episodes reminded me how integral Felicia was for the show.  Sally Spencer was done so dirty. She is turning in superb performances in an icky storyline. I wish she had stuck around longer. She has chemistry with everyone. The McKinnons should have lasted longer. Spencer had some strong stuff with Stephen Schnetzer and Mary Alexander. AW waster such a talented actress by getting rid of her. Justice for Cheryl too. I also missed Ed Fry when he left. Sandra Ferguson was a star from the moment she came on. She was charismatic and just popped. She had immediate chemistry with RKK and blended in well with Wyndham and Watson. I'd forgotten about the teenage Matthew.  I have no memory of Peggy Lazarus. She must not have lasted long. Was the original plan for John that he was going to turn out to be the twins' real father?
    • If the new and improved copies that @rsclassicfanforever has uploaded can be manually moved into the "by month, by year" folders, that would be awesome. I personally don't think it's necessary to keep the older versions (which either have Dutch subtitles hard coded on them, or are lesser in picture quality). That's a lot of valuable drive space that could be cleared. Just my view but can appreciate others may feel differently. The structure had been by month by year previously, so I think it would be easier to conform to that, where so much prior work to get it to that format has already been done. Hopefully you can "drag and drop" so the new copies are in the right month/year? Re Clips, I never look at them now we pretty much have the episodes in full. Appreciate others may use, however. Thanks for all your hard work here @BoldRestless!
    • Oh yes defintely, Josh Griffith repeats and repeats the same storylines.
    • Isnt’t this storyline similar to the Cameron Kirsten situation though? Sharon thought she killed him. He ended up being alive and Sharon was being tormented with thinking she was seeing his face everywhere and that’s how we got that iconic scene with her and Nikki in the sewers.   I understand in Mariah’s case this is different circumstances but it does seem like a play on that whole thing. Maybe I’m wrong. I just wish if they were going to make any character follow in Sharon’s foot steps it would be Faith. Mariah wasn’t even raised by her, and her personality is different. I would expect her to take a different path. I understand I could be completely jumping ahead because the storyline hasn’t even played out yet but we’ll see.
    • Thanks again @Paul Raven Monica was completely without redeeming qualities at this point. I always found the whole Monica = Carly narrative regressive, as I don't think shows comparing characters so heavily is ever a great idea, but she's actually worse than Carly was. Was it the Pollocks who had Leslie have a miscarriage?  Giving her a child, especially by rape, was not a good idea, but a part of me wishes they'd committed to it just to see what story it might have had in later years.
    • @janea4old Your detailed explanation and delving into the psychology and motivations is no doubt the opposite of what we will see onscreeen. As @ranger1rg stated we will get a few scenes and some sketchy explanations. Like the adoption of Aria, most of it will take place off screen.
    • I'm suddenly fearful that DAYS is going to pull a Flowers-for-Algernon stunt and Bo's progress will be reversed.  While @te. is stuck on Abe's tiny bedroom, I can't stop thinking of the size of Bo's huge hospital room.
    • Okay, why are Paulina and Abe sleeping like that?!  I'd take a screen grab if I wasn't lazy, but come on.
