March 11, 201016 yr Member Passanante was Co-HW's with Sloane and Laiman for most of 1996, until the Labine's came in. Thanks. I remember OLTL at that time as so boring, whereas her AMC and ATWT were, aside from a few strong stories at the start and finish of her ATWT run, just offensive and insane. I feel really bad for their fans. WTF is up with all these firings?! Easy targets (all non-white, or negative characters). Easy to blame for the failings of Gigi and Rex. Soon I think we will see some of those in the Todd story fired. I'll be surprised if we aren't saying goodbye to Mark Lawson soon. Edited March 11, 201016 yr by CarlD2
March 11, 201016 yr Member God 96-97 was horrible. I hate to say that I enjoyed the JFP era (for what it was- plot driven and dark)..
March 11, 201016 yr Member God 96-97 was horrible. I hate to say that I enjoyed the JFP era (for what it was- plot driven and dark).. Admit it, you enjoyed JFP's production values more. JFP's OLTL seemed like one stunt after another, with little story in between, or stories that would drag on way past their expiration dates. Not too different from Higley's dreck now that I think about it.
March 11, 201016 yr Member This sounds like massive budget cuts or the hiring of pricey actors, maybe the combination of the two? If Mark Lawson goes, that leaves Jessica and the (godawful Christian.) (Well I did enjoy him for the first time in a decade in the KISH story.) And what does this mean for Layla? Is this Kelly/Todd story going to monopolize the show? Are they possibly preparing for the return of Roger Howarth as I have seen rumored? Is OLTL being rewritten (as usual)?
March 11, 201016 yr Member Brian Kerwin should be worried as well. STOP! STOP!!! Between Jean P. as a headwriter and now talk of Brian Kerwin being ditched, I am gonna cry. Stop, please!
March 11, 201016 yr Member I feel really bad for their fans. WTF is up with all these firings?! Easy targets (all non-white, or negative characters). Easy to blame for the failings of Gigi and Rex Its true that minority characters often take a dispaportionate share of the blame for bad ratings. Although to be fair to the network the fact that they are supporting characters and neither of them has a lot of history with the show probably also contributed to the decision. Not a surprise.... why does daytime even bother. This non-committal bull [!@#$%^&*] with LGBLT stories is really getting old. It is getting tiring. Whenever I think ABCD is making a step forward they take two steps back. ATWT made a lot of mistakees with Luke and Noah but at least their still around after almost three years. March 11, 201016 yr Member Frons can always use OLTL's crappy ratings and demos as an excuse to fire Carlivati and Valentini. Never mind that quality and ratings often don't correlate, but it would be right up his alley to hire Goutman and Passanante, even though they would be coming from a canceled show. It's not like Carlivati and Valentini aren't hacks themselves. The days of Carlivati praise are lonnnnnnnnnnnnnggggg gone. There is isnt one damn good HW in daytime anymore. Hell there isnt one good EP either. No wonder soaps are the shits.
March 11, 201016 yr Member Are they possibly preparing for the return of Roger Howarth as I have seen rumored? Adds fuel to the Goutman and Passanante coming to OLTL theory. Howarth is their pet on ATWT.
March 11, 201016 yr Member If anyone in the Todd story goes it will be Kassie DePavia. I just have this weird feeling that Kelly is going to take Blair's spot under Todd.
March 11, 201016 yr Member And when will Farah Fath and JPL get their pink slips?? Seriously are tptb at OLTL blind??????!!!!!!!

He could, but I'm still baffled as to why he hasn't, given how long OLTL's ratings have been in the crapper
March 11, 201016 yr Member If anyone in the Todd story goes it will be Kassie DePavia. I just have this weird feeling that Kelly is going to take Blair's spot under Todd. Blair's been sort of phased out gradually over the past couple of years anyway, hasn't she? She hasn't certainly led much story since Higley left, has she? Edited March 11, 201016 yr by Adam
March 11, 201016 yr Member Oh man Jamey from DC is PISSED: Incest, rape, pedophilia, rampant murder, all continue as ratings slide, but they blame one gay storyline. Scape meet goat.
March 11, 201016 yr Member It is inevitable that OLTL is the next soap cancelled, it is just a matter of when.. AMC will go within a year after, maybe two. When Y&R is unwatchable, daytime is in trouble. Days is the only soap that people seem to like. Its the only show with any ratings potential, and I suppose you can never count GH out in that respect.
