For a second there I was thinking "Julie Berman was in England?!" and then I exclaimed, "Oh! That Lulu!"

I just watched the One Show episode she was in and I don't know what anyone's talking about, she looks no different than she has for years. Lulu's an interesting case because I think she's done some very artful, but minimal Botox and fillers. Her cheeks are awfully plump and youthful, that's either filler or implants...I'm leaning towards implants because they have more definition than is possible with fillers. Her face is very round, she's done fillers pretty much everywhere that was hollowing out. I think she looks good, her attitude helps!

Probably hasn't had a stitch of it, but they just showed Leslie Uggams (who they i.d.'d as Dionne Warwick  ) on the news at Lena Horne's funeral, and she looks GREAT. Skin so smooth, not even a bit of jowl. They did in fact get a sound bite from Dionne right after and she also looks great for a PROUD smoker. Did anyone see her on Joy Behar?

"And she'll SHOUT it from the rooftops!"

Dionne is seriously delusional if she thinks those Virginia Slims haven't hurt her voice "one iota." She, Cissy, and Whitney have all damaged their beautiful sopranos with ciggies (and harder smoked goods  ).

Thanks for reminding me Sylph, totally forgot about the request for Lorenzo. Have to admit, I think Lorenzo Lamas is kinda cool in the most douche baggy way.

So here's the analysis. A few shots of Botox, maybe some lower eye work to clean up bags, but that's all folks. Lorenzo started very baby faced, his face had plenty of fat in it that, over the last 35 years, has continuously depleted to the point he's at now. He doesn't look bad when he tries, but when he doesn't, he looks like a total creep. Lorenzo is the kind of man who just CANNOT pull of facial hair in any way shape or form, he looks like someone on To Catch a Predator. When he's clean shaven, the hair is done and the clothes are age appropriate, he rocks it.

I can't stand the likes of Dionne Warwick (though I do enjoy her music) who defiantly smoke, laughing in the faces of everyone who says they are cancer sticks. She looks like hell, she acts like Whitney and she sounds like a toad.

Oh, she's so full of crap. It hasn't hurt her voice one iota? PLEASE. Look at this video from 2006:

And the same song performed 25 years previous:

notice how the smoothness of tone quality has degraded, and she doesn't even attempt the high notes in the final chorus, which is the most dramatic part of the song.

Julie Andrews probably seethes every time she sees Dionne or Whitney...

I remember how people used to make fun of Celine Dion for the lengths she went to to protect her voice. I don't know if it worked, I haven't heard her recently, but that's what you have to do.

Why would she seethe? She hasn't lost her voice because she hasn't cared about it — or perhaps I'm wrong — she had some nodules or polyps in her throat. There was also a malpractice suit against the New York doctors who operated on her, and it was settled. In 2000, I believe.

I'm guessing that's their point. JA had no choice in what's happened to her while others have chosen to damage their voices, which could seem unfair. But really, I don't see making those comparisons as a practical way to live. We are all living under different circumstances and we make our decisions based on that, not on other people's circumstances. It's like people who get angry because they can't have children, while their are women out there having abortions. One thing really has nothing to do with the other.

I think part of the deal with DW is menopause in addition to smoking. Most women are never going to sound the same at 65 as they did at 35 or even 45.

That's Carl's point, they took their gifts for granted and ruined them at their own hands.

My former boss saw Dionne in concert about ten years ago and she excused herself before she began saying that she had "a cold." He said that she talk-sung her way through the night and moved the mic a mile away from her mouth whenever she attempted a high note.

ETA: sorry Julia, didn't mean to reiterate. ;)
