Not always.

When Taylor returned back from the dead, Stephanie requested Brooke relinquish all rights to R.J. to let Taylor and Ridge raise him. When Brooke whined, "What about Hope?" Steph replied, "She's a nice little girl, but she never really was a part of this family."

Yeah, but it really would have been odd for Stephenie to demand Taylor and Ridge raise Hope, since there isn't a biological connection. Not that it was reasonable to expect Brooke to give up RJ either. The most ironic part of this whole deal is that Ridge and Steffy aren't really Foresters either, but they are acting like biology is everything.

what is the lesson of today's show, be honest with your children or they'll find out later and kill themselves?

I hope one day they sorass Darla and Thorne's daughter so she can come back and thank Taylor for killing her mother while drunk driving. I'm still amazed that killing a family member isn't more scandalous.

And does anyone buy their clothes based on the moral or immoral personal life of the designers?

Can't we have it the other way and Alli can run over Stuffy?

Brad is taking the Brookehaters own ideas and turning them against them. It is even more obvious with the dialogue about Hope being a stain because thats what they call her when they wish her dead so Brooke can suffer.

I HATE that they did the Hope reveal so soon. This girl has been on what 2 weeks? I think they should have developed her more. Given us time to get use to her as a teen. I think its too soon to have thrown the history with Deacon at her with absolutely NO build up whatsover

I agree with you, but pacing that is way too fast has always been a problem for B&B. At least for as long as I can remember. If Brad would slow it down he wouldn't need to burn through so many stories, but I think he's afraid of losing the audience's attention.

I really don't know what's worse: this stories told in superfast manner or slow-as-a-snail rinse-then-repeat. I think I tend to favour the faster pace because Bradley looses intrest in stories sooo quickly it all becomes one big mess and if he were to drag them over to years, it would be too much.

Brad has talent, people may laugh as much as they want at me for writing that. But laziness made him stale, boring, idea-less writer who chooses "safe" over inovation and contemporarisation. Had he had a vision several years ago, he would have given B&B a few more years of life. But hey...

And Brad has also made a mistake in making Tracey Ann Kelly, Patrick Mulcahey and certain other his, well, slaves basically. He, again, chose safety over trying to bring some new people and train them and teach them what Bell universe means. This how he just makes their fear of and contempt for Bell soaps even bigger (Oh, that sh!tty B&B, I'd never write for that one or something like that...). He made B&B a claustrophobic dungeon filled with mildew, moss, bats and rotten cadavers.

I really wish they had had Hope and Bridget interact first. Establish a relationship with them as sisters. I also wish they were more concrete about what Hope knows and doesnt before this reveal. Brooke mentioend that she knew where she came from but as Hope was listening to her and Ridge talk, I couldnt make out if she really did know or didnt bc the writing seemed to be off and Hope's comments werent consistent.

Speaking of Brooke and her kids, what is her relationship with Jack? They made a big deal about Taylor giving him up so Brooke can raise him but is she playinh any role in his life? I cant remember when was the last time she was with him or even talked about him? Has she taken a step back and let Bridget be his mother with her playing grandma to him?

Granted, I didn't see the Hope overhear the scandalous details of her conception/birth/parentage....but am I really supposed to believe that in this day in age (with Hope growing up in LA) that Hope had no idea about any of it? Stephanie exposed Brooke's pregnancy, and it was a scandal back in the day. Unless Brooke sent that kid to a convent, I really can't believe Hope never googled her mother and got any juicy old gossip.

I get really tired of the "scandalous" re-revelations that never quite make sense on this show. They always end up seeming like cheap stunts.

    • Also, the lawsuit story was not the right story to bring Naomi and Bill into a court battle since those types of lawsuits are usually resolved via settlements.
    • I know that Sara did eventually become Carrie's therapist, but I was curious if the show had her make comments regarding Carrie's stunts of making it seem as though Justin was cheating on Jackie.  Given that Justin cheated on Sara with both Jackie and Brandy, I wondered if it was wise of her to counsel Carrie given the conflict of interest involved. @DRW50I think once Adam/Sara end up married.. Marland didn't see any reason to explore Sara's personal life after the actor playing Adam was released.  I know that Sara lasts until at least Christmas 1982 on the show.. but I don't think she ended up staying on for very long into 1983. The period between Marland quitting and Pam Long starting was the perfect time to clean house on characters that had outgrown their usefulness  (i.e. Ben, Evie, Sara, Jennifer, Morgan).. and tying up stories started by Marland that were too complex (Mona Enright, Mark/Jennifer/Amanda triangle).
    • Unpopular opinion:  The focus on the soap opera tropes over the mysteries and crimes was partly what did the show in.  Also, featuring characters not involved in the legal, police, and criminal elements also hurt the show and took away what made it unique. Featuring characters like Jody, Raven, Sky, etc hurt the show long term.  The show ABCified starting in 1976/1977 and then went through a youthification period starting in 1981.
    • I feel like the lawsuit storyline was resolved quickly because the show didn’t want to spring for more sets.
    • It's been a while, but we have seen the foyer to Bill and Hayley's house as well as the exterior entrance to their house. The foyer was first seen in the premiere episode when Hayley met Vanessa at the house.
    • There's still a year or two before Larkin arrives. Joel is there already. EON does noticeably youthify, although I think they carry it off. Admittedly I haven't seen most of the Jody stories, which from what people here have said aren't great.
    • I don't mind the actor who plays Brian. He's fine. The problem for me is that Paige seems so wishy wishy. She doesn't seem to have much of a personality at this point so I don't see why Brian would be so besotted with her. She just lurches from one trauma to the next. Granted, it's only been a month, but she's not as vibrant as April or even Deborah who has had minimal screen time by this point.  I do worry about the influence of GH on the show since I'm in fall of 1979 and characters have conversations and there's not the drive to "youthify" the show. However, I think Marceau (sp?) is gone. He was given a rather tame sendoff. How long was the actor on the show? I hope this is not a sign of things to come. I worry the show is setting up a murder mystery around one of my favorite characters and I will be mightily annoyed. I also noticed in recent Search for Tomorrow episodes uploaded to YT that the actors playing Logan and Eliot showed up. I don't watch the show but they were in the screencaps. When does Larkin Malloy show up or has he already left? Joel Crothers hasn't shown up either unless I've blinked and missed him.
    • Dr Linden. She treated Vanessa's drug addiction (although Vanessa seemed to forget that by Henry's suicide attempt) , and she's mentioned during Reva's PPD. Although I can't recall if she's actually shown right off the top of my head. She probably was temporarily shelved when Sonni was a therapist (between her crazy times) And I think Billy sees her after he falls off the wagon after Reva's death.
