June 2, 201015 yr Author Administrator Why is Gordon Rayfield out already? Was he just a placeholder until they could get JP? Since OLTL only has 4 breakdown writers, my guess is once JP was hired, she took Gordon's spot on the team.
June 3, 201015 yr Member Yup, it's B&E! I'm dumbfounded as to how they are always getting hired. Like AMC couldn't hire/find other writers? Really? I'm shocked. It's like the show is planning a reunion of writers. ETA: I don't understand why these two comes as a package for scriptwriting. I can understand as headwriters, but to write scripts? June 3, 201015 yr Member Looking back, B&E gave David Kreizman's career a huge boost by promoting him to the GL writing team from a lowly production position. Had they not done so he probably never would have progressed much beyond that production position. B&E kept Donna Swajeski employed for 5 years, first at Guiding Light and then Port Charles. We know JHC loves B&E. As does Frons. So it seems like it was the ideal mix of people in all the critical positions for B&E to get back in. How were their scripts at OLTL? I've always wondered what B&E's status was with the show after the strike, because the writing improved quite a bit (IMO at least) starting in March (e.g. Carmen/Erica) all the way through May sweeps (Angie and Jesse's wedding culminating with the Kathy reveal was some of the best AMC I have ever seen), but they were never quoted by the magazines at all after the strike. Still, RPG said Carruthers introduced him to B&E in the writer's room when he had his studio tour, and I remember Bobbie Eakes saying she talked to B&E the week before they were fired, so they must have still been there in some capacity. David and Donna are reminding me alot of B&E: their writing isn't especially offensive and destructive (at least compared to McTavish and Pratt), and they're trying to rebuild that sense of community, but it's so boring.
June 3, 201015 yr Member Yup, it's B&E! I'm dumbfounded as to how they are always getting hired. Like AMC couldn't hire/find other writers? Really? ATWT just ended...why not go out and get Leslie Nipkow or Susan Dansby? Why not bring Fred Johnson back? Or promote from within (cheaper)? But nope...let's bring back B&E! Really? At least it's just script writing this time and they can't influence story. The OLTL Writer OUT is Gordon Rayfield who was the odd man out when Passanante joined. The B&E news is just ridiculous!!
June 3, 201015 yr Member Yup, it's B&E! I'm dumbfounded as to how they are always getting hired. Like AMC couldn't hire/find other writers? Really? I thought B&E retired or something like that? AMC does nothing but scrape the bottom of the barrell when it comes to HW's and writers. What next, Pratt returning? That would truly be the sign of the apocalype Edited June 3, 201015 yr by Zendall Fan
June 3, 201015 yr Member I think the main problem at AMC continues to be JHC, and Frons. B&E are tired and their run was tired but I don't think they can do much to hurt the show. Maybe they can do something about the poor writing for Jesse and Angie and Frankie.
June 3, 201015 yr Member Maybe they can do something about the poor writing for Jesse and Angie and Frankie. This is the only benefit that I see.
June 3, 201015 yr Member One thing's for sure: Megan McTavish is guaranteed not to return as BD or script writer. That's too beneath me her.

June 3, 201015 yr Member They can't do anything about it since they're just writing scripts. They can at least shape those episodes to fit the characters, even if the stories don't. Since they're close to Kriezman and Swajeski that may also help.

June 3, 201015 yr Member With all the focus here on the quality of individual scriptwriters, they must have some sort of say, at least in characterization for those episodes. I know: They can't do anything about it since they're just writing scripts. but I'm just going on all the interest on the writers of the daily episodes. I guess I'm just hoping for some sort of improvement...
