2010: The Directors and Writers Thread

I think it's HIGHLY unfair to formulate such a strong opinion of his head writing abilities after only a 8-13 week solo stint.

Fair enough. I do tend to give all the credit for everything I liked from March 2003 onward (and I did really like those months) to Cascio, and that's probably much too simplistic.

Tracey Thomson has been MIA at AMC for a little bit.. Given her immediate demotion after Pratt left I wonder if there's anything to that.

Like R Sinclair said you can't judge Rayfield's stint as HW because it was so damn short. But during that period Mr Frons was coming aboard to ABC Daytime.

I noticed that too, I don't think she's wroten any scripts in almost a month?

She probably was let go. They really should keep Celena Cipraiso as a full time script writer. They have been really decent and the episodes have the typical AMC feel to them.

Watch TT reappear tomorrow lol.

Totally agree about Cipriaso. I also saw that she created a new history database for TPTB at AMC, so she probably knows the show inside and out. Idiots....

TT has not been credited for anything and I am actually glad. She wasn't that good as a AHW and she was great when she wrote those scripts.

Well, if Monday's episode is any indication of Cipriaso's work, then it's too bad she's no longer on staff. As I said in that day's thread, Tad and Liza's break up (among other scenes) was well written.

I was just coming to comment on whoever wrote that break up did it very well, IMHO. I love how they used the history to give motivation and character insight instead of just tossing it into there and forcing it.

I believe Celena is the writers' assistant at AMC (and is still on staff). I don't believe she worked in production. The production assistants for AMC: NY were Jen Minda and Marika Brancato (both of whom have been promoted w/ the move to LA). Celena's not a PA for AMC: LA either.

Yeah, although in the show credits she was listed as a production associate, she identifies herself as a writer's assistant. Unless those are the same thing?

She's gone though. Her LinkedIn profile has this for AMC:

Writer's Assistant

ABC

(Entertainment industry)

September 2006 — December 2009 (3 years 4 months)

Re-vamped the history database of a 40-year-old show. Created and implemented procedure to transition new writers onto staff. Initiated outreach and recruitment of interns and the ABC Daytime Diversity Program. Extended job responsibilities to include in depth research reports and incorporating editorial changes into scripts.

I can't see why a writer's assistant would be affected by the move though.

Well, then, she definitely needs to go. ;-)

She probably worked in the AMC offices.

I'm watching AMC right now and I must say I am megaimpressed with today's directing, courtesy of Angela Tessinari. I loved the shots that she used(specifically the open shot following Amanda's legs and panning up and when Brooke and Annie met face-to-face between Adam in the background).

Thank the Lord that someone mentioned directors in this thread!!! :)

While I thought the Amanda shot was cliche "Who's that girl?" I did like the way Brooke and Annie's beat in the foyer was staged and shot.

Kate Hall was back today listed as script writer for AMC. I wonder now if Donna and David will add anyone/take anyone out....
