Members DaytimeFan
Very interesting. I'm surprised. Happily surprised.
Members Chris B
So we have David Kriezman, Donna Swajeski, Addie Walsh, Lorraine Broderick and Kate Hall so far? Depending on who the GL rejects bring on it might work out. The AMC writers sticking around could be enough to reign them in. Hopefully. Let's just hope they don't get Ellen Wheeler a spot on the writing team.
Members bellcurve
Ellen doesn't have a WGA card...does she?
Members Sylph
BTW, Kreizman is Sarnoff, but Swajeski is not (Artists Agency, Inc., New York).
Members Chris B
She could get one. I see her as a jack of all trades. She's already mastered acting, directing (did you see those AMAZING bush shots in Peakpak?!?), producing and show killing. Now she needs to learn how to properly write a soap and leave some of her magic at AMC. Then after that show reaches a .5 HH rating she can be take over Y&R as the new HW/EP. Members Sylph
In order to become a WGA member she "must acquire a minimum of 24 units in the three years preceding application." What's a unit? Well, 2 units = one week of employment under the Guild's jurisdiction on a week-to-week basis. 4 units = breakdown for a non-primetime show 30–60 minutes. 8 units = teleplay 30–60 minutes. 24 units = feature-lenght theatrical movie screenplay; long-term story projection; series bible ... ... ... Members bellcurve
Wait. I thought Ellen Wheeler was already Executive Producer of Y&R. But that doesn't mean scab work. Does it? Because that would make her ineligible.
Members Sylph
It doesn't. It means she needs to write 6 breakdowns and she is set.
Members bellcurve
Do those breakdowns have to be used on the show or just registered with the Guild?
Members Sylph
You must sell your work to a signatory company. Or - the company might "option" your screenplay (but it is less units). This is for film. If it's for a TV series, those breakdowns need to be used, produced. You also need to pay an inital $2,500 fee upon joining. This is all for WGA West. The Eastern Guild has a different requirement. Someone who wants to become a member must have an offer of employment by a TV or screen producer who is, again, signatory. Or a company must become signatory if it's interested in a writer's work. There you pay $1,500 and then like $30 quartlerly or something... Members R Sinclair
Oh, really, Lucci? Are they also going to write the "more expansive" stories for you to perform in your studio that was bestowed upon you as a "major vote of confidence" in the show? Can we stop going to this corporate party line reading fake for any interesting quotes, please? It's like going to Elisabeth Hasslebeck about the GOP. Yet, ATWT is just... DEAD! OMG, this is hilarious!!
