I agree with all of what you have said except for Charlie and Kim. I think both BK and AS are wonderful actors and I am enjoying them a great deal right now. My only complaint with One Life is where's Viki. Why are we not seeing her support her husband.

Starr doesn't have a purpose. She and Cole do nothing and they seem to have it easy raising Hope. Matthew and Dani is the new teen story, and I think it works in and of itself. Which is why they should take a realistic tack in dealing with Starr and Cole from now on; how else would two young people react to being stuck together raising a kid while either starting or getting ready to start college, when you're supposed to be young, single and free? That's when things should blow up for these characters. It should be high drama, and I think it's organic to the situation. But right now their life seems idyllic.

When she's with Dorian, Blair and Langston she's still just a face in the crowd now. She is supporting other stories - Dorian's, Langston's, Kish's. That's not anything for Starr.

What should really happen is one or both of the kids should sleep with someone else, either Cole at college or Starr at school. That stands a chance of happening in real life. And both of them should develop actual career goals. I remember Cole once said he wanted to study engineering and work with BE, then I think this year he claimed he was interested in law. You can do something substantial with those kids' aspirations. I think Cole excelled with Rachel at the rehab center, too.

ETA: Oliver's in his uniform too! Oh my God. *squee* Send Kyle off to medical school to become a real doctor. I absolutely adore the idea of a gay couple following such a classic soap couple template: the office and the doctor. I want that.

YES! I do love that they are a same sex couple who have a very soapy storyline that are in very soapy jobs.

I like Brody. Though they try to parade him around like eye candy which is something I generally dislike about soaps, he still manages to get no "hate" from me because he is written, like you said, as caring and moral and the actor seems humble and determined to do good work. He is sort of the anti-Rex, and in some ways I imagine he is something like a modern-day Joe Riley, the sensitivity of a boy, the strength of a man.

I agree. Its why i love Brody. and watching him and Jess grow together as friends first in the crazy house was great.

Funny you mention Joe Riley. My grandmom was watching a bit of OLTL with me and seen a Brody/Jess scene and mentioned that Brody reminded her of Joe in some way.

Nigel was outed by the Gary Tomlin regime of 2002. Then for some insane reason, Malone made him straight. It was an absolutely horrible comic side story on top of his horrific main event with Mitch that torpedoed his second run. By comparison, Mitch's current run seems like an exercise in Hitchcockian restraint.

When I see Lea DeLaria I always think of her hitting on Goldie Hawn in The First Wives Club, I've seen her sing before but I'm not well-versed in her NY cabaret career or anything.

It's pretty groundbreaking that FIVE gay characters in speaking roles appeared on a soap opera today.

I saw Peter Bartlett in a play called "Voices in the Dark" with Judith Ivey about, geesh, almost ten years ago. There was a talk back afterwards and *of course* I had to be the one to raise my hand and mention OLTL. He smiled and said it had been a nice steady gig that he enjoyed. He was pretty fabulous IRL, as my friend (an actor who is also pretty fabulous himself) remarked.

Off topic but my New Yorker friend (as we all refer to him) works with the part time actor who plays Val on AMC--who's also a noted drag performer...

I saw Lea in On the Town--she did an AWESOME I Can Cook Too, but even in that musical I thought she came off a bit butch to be seen as a romantic partner (the sailor she was after, though was played byt he gay redhead actor who plays, well the gay redhead on Modern Family now... so maybe it was that kinda show)

Brian Kerwin was indeed amazing today. I'm so intregued as to where the show is taking this story. The show was tugging on my heart strings when we listened to Viki's voicemail today.

I want them to play up the Brody/Charlie connection in this story. Where Bo is a like surrogate father to Rex, I see a similar relationship happening between Charlie and Brody. By getting Jessica involved with Charlie's drinking, they could have her and Brody try to help Charlie get back on the wagon.

I meant to say this yesterday in response to Dorian/RS's wardrobe change during the last act, but I think it's official Dorian Lord is the best dressed character on daytime. Of course one of my all time outfits were the one she wore just before the BE takeover...gotta love Robin Strasser!
