I don't think he shut it down. Wasn't Alan shown living there in 2008? I think after Dinah took over the Spaulding Mansion that Alan moved into the boarding house. I recall a scene with Alan and Buzz on the steps and then Alan being shown lying on a twin bed in the house.

I think Buzz must have shut it down once he bought Company. Actually it already seemed to be shut down once Nola ran the place.

The Reardon's had the boarding house and Company while the Cooper's had the diner.

Stupidly, the show burned down the diner. I love that set and I think the show gave the Cooper's Company since all the Reardon's were off the canvas by that time.

Didn't Pam Long created the Cooper's as a replacement for the Reardon's? I remember Long stating that she loved writing for Tony and Nola, and would have continued writing for them but that the actors left the show.

Yep. Soap Opera Central's biography for Alan even mentions him living at the boarding house after Gus' death in 2008. The scene stood out to me because it depicted Alan lying on a twin bed in a very cramped room.

Robb is correct. The boarding house continued to exist. We rarely saw it, as opposed to The Beacon's ONE suite, but it was still referred to. I want to say that Ashlee lived there after a falling-out with Doris.

The Coopers were only created in 1987, and the Reardons (other than Maureen and then the newbie Chelsea) were away about two years earlier. Harley was the younger version of Reva not Nola per what I read from Pam Long.

:(

I still miss it.

I'm glad we're getting some 1981 videos, although I wonder why there aren't any 1980.

At first, I figured that it was because Marland was just starting out in 1980, but the Dobson's were just starting out in 1980 at ATWT and 1980 is being shown for that.
