I don't understand why Guiding Light keeps getting targeted on YouTube? As The World Turns accounts haven't been affected. Neither has Another World or Edge of Night

Why does YouTube keep targeting Guiding Light, and not the other P&G soaps that have libraries of episodes on YouTube

Well, not totally. We can assume the Lewises had an evangelical background. They didn't talk about it much, but it did surface once or twice (i.e. when Billy named Peter, which was a Biblical reference--I SO wish I could find that scene).

Well, Josh protesting while at Berkeley I could understand. But it probably messes up the timeline somewhere. Lol. Especially since I believe they said he was 18 in 1977 during the Maryanne Carruthers misfire.

Billy, I could see being one of those old time revival tent preachers.

Maybe it's the fact Josh never seemed to feel strongly about much other than Reva. Lol.

Heck yeah, that messes up the timeline, since Alan, Elizabeth, and 10 year old Phillip arrived in Springfield--on screen--in 1978.

The only way I could see Josh protesting would be to upset HB or because he wanted to pick up chicks.

Its a shame about GL on YT. For years I was always glad to see that GL was one of the more represented soaps on YT. Thanks to takedowns, GL is easily surpassed by ATWT, OLTL and the 1987-91 SoapNet repeats of AW.

Which of the five soaps currently on, would you say was closest in tone to GL (if any)? Maybe GH, since GL was always chasing trends and Days did to but they were more over-the-top than GH who created the formula. The Bell soaps always seemed like the antithesis to the P&G soaps, BTG is closer to feel to a Bell soap than the other two.

Anyway, we were talking about RN. I always say that actors can surprise you when they get the right material. That definitely happened with him. It's true that this started happening before Long came on. They made Josh less sleazy--he was a good friend to Amanda, he had a complicated relationship with Morgan, he was trying to succeed in business in an honest way. His character was already evolving.

I don't think they did a "redemption" thing for Josh--it was more memory holed and since few cared about sleazy Josh, they got away with it. It would have been a little difficult for him to be holier-than-thou with Reva if people were bringing up his past with Leslie Ann, etc.

Josh being holier than thou with Reva tracks even with his player era circa 1981-1983 since he believed in the 'rules for thee, but not for me' mantra.

I say the same thing about "Reverend Josh" that I say about all half-baked ideas that surprise TPTB when they flop with the folks at home: your audience will go wherever you want them to go, but you must take the time to get them there.

Jenna (Jenna 1st stint was perfect and ended at the righ time. Jenna 2nd stint started strong and her character was declawed).

Reva (I'll always say this, but she should have remained dead after driving off the bridge in 1990).

For some odd reason, I didn't mind Olivia being on the show even though she had that regal vibe to her character that made her not fit into Springfield.. but she actually had a good run (Her briefly meeting India in 2002 made me wonder what could have been if India had extended her stay past a few episodes)

I love short term returns...As much as I love Nola, I think her second stint should have been short term...it actually was a good time to bring her back with her old nemesis hooking up with her nephew...instead of the sad sack rejected Nola...she would be a novelist going on a book tour who drops into town to remind everyone that Van was not always a saint...("Vanessa, did you pull that fur coat trick on Matt..yes, thats right Matt, Vanessa used to come naked in a fur coat to have sex with your uncle Tony..oh, and she also slept with your uncle Ed, which I have to admit, must have been when Ed had some life in him.") cause trouble with Dinah and Van (as in, maybe Dinah had spent time with Nola in those years she was off the show, and Van is a bit jealous) poke stick in his ass Ed trying to mother Michelle "Oh Michelle, listen to your Auntie Nola...your father is a bit of a stick in the mud, you need to have some fun." And maybe threaten Lillian, "Listen b*tch I know what happened and you better hope I don't put your sordid past in my next book" etc and then leave town. You don't have to invent some affair for Quint or bring him back to try to beat the Quola dead horse..they are happy together, they just dont have their heads up each others butts.

Jenna should have returned second time to usher Buzz off canvas, and Edmund and Richard were supposed to be short term but they were supposedly SO popular....
