I haven't been watching Days as often and Y&R is getting to the point where I don't care if I see it or not either. I never dreamed that I could ever go soapless while the ones I usually watch were still on the air.

I didn't care for the way Neil treated Tyra today at all. She isn't Dru but at least she's trying to be there for him in his time of need and etc.....

I hate what they are doing to most of the women on this show especially Ashley and Sharon as a viewer it just so sad and pitiful to watch....

It also seems like the show is getting really choppy like the way they go from scene to scene and especially when they cut to commercials.

TPTB are total liars and/or incompetents. The contempt MAB and her henchmen have for the actors (save for the chosen few - JC, BM, and the Scoobs) is palpable. Few backstage dramatics were more vile than MAB's attempt to cheat Nia Peeplees out of her contract.

Which blew up in their face.

If they leaked the stuff to Branco making Engen look like some homophobic diva, then that also backfired, because huge expectations were set for the story, never came close to being met, and only helped draw huge, negative attention to a vile story many people had been trying to get through. So then it became all about, "Hey, this story is sick. Fetuses in a fireplace? No wonder he quit!"

They have handled the show all wrong. No wonder the product is a mess.

Count me in on that as sadly it's now the point of no return to the good ole days.

Yes it did and I do have to say though, Billy & Chloe's wedding was about as classy as we've seen in quite a few years.

Please, do not ruin Lauren Koslow's character over some BULLSH!T like Patty Jane. Dear Lauren will need a job when they fire her from DAYS.

Also, I think that's another reason why they pull stuff from the internet. The choppiness is all over the place with the stories, like they're just waiting for their next "brilliant" idea from a kissass MB poster who says, "These dates would match. Why not make Mary Jane Patty" or some BS like that.

It's one thing to kind of accept viewer feedback and say, "This story clearly is working..." or "This needs more work." But to lift crappy story ideas from message boards instead of using your writing team, your assistant, your research staff to guide you in why certain things are plausible or implausible" just reeks of arrogant, lazy storytelling.

Maria's Y&R reminds me of the guy who would write his manuscript(and while writing it, remembered the plot to every single dollar movie at Blockbuster and put it in there) the day before it had to be presented in workshop and, because he talked a good game, he expected everyone to just bow at his feet and say, "Oh this was wonderful. The best story I've ever read."

If it means more "spooky" appearances by Raya Meddine, I am all for it.

That stuff with Ash and Sabrina in the car was pure comedy.

That Linda Gottlieb thread really makes me wish she or someone like her were at Y&R right now.

A revolutionary to give this show a complete revamp, get rid of the useless characters; someone that adds innovative elements to the show, while still respecting its roots.

But most of all, someone that fights TIIC for the stories she/he wants to tell and believes in. Someone who freckin' cares about putting out something with substance and high quality.

It's really sad, huh Sylph? These people have become pathetic and predictable.

I'm more pissed because Maria knew exactly what was at stake, not only for the show, but for those working there(talent, production, and below-the-line) and the fans. And she just didn't rise to the occasion, despite her rousing bulldog speeches to Nellie.

I have never seen so much dislike for your own show. Her family is a partial owner, dear God! Doesn't she wish it to prosper? If for nothing else then for the money? Not only that, but her family lets her wreak havoc as if it's all OK and nothing's really going on, business-as-usual.

More shocks are coming our way!

It isn't even funny to say "how much low can this show get"? I get signs of hope when I see a small improvement, but then I get a ton of scenes that are worse than I've seen on LML's version (not that it was better)... I don't want to quit watching this show, but I'm this close to actually doing it.

    • Thanks @JAS0N47 for the 1973-1979 pre-emptions. Interesting that there were no Christmas pre-emptions 1973-1975 and 1978. Christmas 1976 was a Saturday and Christmas 1977 was a Sunday.

    • Thanks @DRW50 for the video. I guess that is the closest we will get to pre-1979 Roger/Holly storylines.
    • Yeah that's likely the case and it will all be awful.
    • I appreciate your POV and ideas here. I don't, however, trust Josh Griffith to make this anything like a good story. My guess is that much of it will be off-camera and that we'll have to be happy with Mariah retelling the nightmare in bits and pieces. Meanwhile, Tessa will still be strumming her damn guitar with Daniel. Ugh. I know I'm negative about this show. I am hate watching with every fiber of my being, and there's nothing about it that's working for me. I never recall Y&R being worse.
    • A batch of photos from Episode #67 which aired Thursday June 5 in USA. Some are scene pictures, and some are behind-the-scenes. https://www.paramountpressexpress.com/cbs-entertainment/shows/beyond-the-gates/photos?episode=25710 Posting because there's a pic of director Michael V. Pomarico; and a pic of director Steven Williford whose photo caption says "J. Steven Williford".

    • I think the gross ickiness is Josh Griffith's intention. At birth, Ian Ward stole Mariah from Sharon, so that Sharon knew only of the Cassie twin and not the Mariah twin.  Sharon gave up Cassie for adoption at birth, never knowing that Mariah existed. When Ian Ward stole baby Mariah, he had her be raised by a woman member of his cult. She grew up in his cult. Years later, after Mariah was an adult in Genoa City and had left him, he tried to kidnap her to marry him himself, I sort of remember some icky scenes where he had arranged a wedding, but she escaped or was rescued -- it was so gross that I chose to forget it, and I don't want to look up the details. Mariah is feeling traumatized/triggered by Ian Ward being in Genoa City several months ago, because he was obsessed with her, and he terrorized her loved ones, interacted with Tessa, and drugged Sharon, which ultimately resulted in the death of Heather -- causing the grief of Daniel and Lucy. None of that was Mariah's fault. But she was so horrified by what happened, that she feels she did something wrong that caused this hateful villain to continue to obsess about her.   Based on small comments that Mariah made recently, I think she feels completely worthless. I gather that when she was away on the business trip a month or two ago, all of what happened with Ian Ward and Heather's death just hit her all at once and she was mentally/emotionally collapsing, and just felt unable to call for help.  During the business trip she sat in her hotel room and spiraled more, feeling more and more worthless and afraid. Finally she started drinking at a bar, and that's when the creepy old man approached her.  By that point, she wasn't in her right mind, and started interacting with the guy.  Either she thought he was Ian, or she thought he was someone like Ian, and she would be *required* to flirt with him in a role play, and do what he commanded, almost like old programming being reactivated.  Or perhaps just simple self-loathing playing out. I don't know if the guy actually knew Ian or Jordan, or if he was a random stranger.  But Mariah's fear/loathing/subconscious chaos kicked in. And then... well that's as far as her flashbacks have aired so far. She can't bear to face the rest of whatever it was.  I gather that in the coming episodes, we'll (eventually) find out what happened next as we see more of the icky flashbacks. --------------- The rest of this post is only my speculation: I think that she felt like she was supposed to have sex with him but didn't want to, and may have tried to kill him instead. Or he r*ped her.  Or they didn't have sex at all, but it's all convoluted in her mind.  Something horrible happened but I don't think it was her fault.  If the man died, maybe she covered it up?  I really don't know, I'm just speculating ideas. At any rate, I'm totally convinced that this is NOT a conventional "cheating storyline" where someone willingly has sex outside their relationship. ----------------- This is basically Josh Griffith's obsession with dark storylines, creepy villains, and terrible writing of "mental health issues".
    • The most we ever saw was on the "Roger years" tape.
