Screw the disrespect aspect, most of us won't make half of what MTS is making. I've seen people treated worse at my job, and no way in hell are they brining in half the money MTS is brining in. I have no sympathy for these wealthy stars when management disrespects them during contract negotiations, it's the real world, deal with it.

If they're asking her to take a paycut and if the only story she's going to get is more of the weak material she's had since Sabrina's death, then she may see this as enough disrespect to where she would leave. I guess that's my question. Are things going to get better for Nikki if MTS does re-sign? By better I don't mean reuniting with Victor, or fighting Ashley for him.

Neither do I. That's why I could care less when Don Diamont was fired, but he was a shitty actor too. However, I thought it was done in a pretty disrespectful way.

Again, I said nothing about money.

Yes, it is the real world, and MTS dealt with it by saying "fuc.k you, I'm gone."

Yes, of course most of us won't be making half of what Melody is making, but that's not my point.

If Y&R needs the money that bad, they should just write Nikiki and Paul out and off into the sunset. Paul is hardly on and Nikki doesn't really have a storyline. That there would save them a big chunk of change.

Oh the market definitely favors management esp. in regards of the vets like Thomas Scott and so on. Management knows they have the over the barrel and can screw them til the sun don't shine because work is not going to be easy for them to find due to their age.

What I find so ironic about the situation though has been the years that ABC was raked over the coals for doing this very thing to its vets. GH did this a long time ago to cut down expenses and keep paying their young stars the salaries to keep them, and they were put down big time.

Then in the last year Days and now Y&R and other shows are doing it and what is so funny the same people that jumped ABC for doing it to Barr, Damon, Anna Lee, Rachel Ames, are the same ones that are saying these shows are doing what they need to do to survive or that these people need to be team players.

It is just so ironic the new tone on so many boards.

Like I said before I understand the reasoning behind it but it is still sad to what is happening.

And for the ones who don't feel sorry for these stars, I could get behind that if it wasn't always about the stars who have given their lives and have worked so hard in daytime where the work is 10 times harder than any other part of the entertainment industry and get paid a lot less for it.

If you want to get angry about things, get angry at these stars who make 1 movie, a few months work and get double what these soap stars are making. Or even their primetime counterparts who work a lot less and get paid more than they do.

Or what about sports stars? Or the stupid reality show stars who get so much for so little?

I just find it hard for myself to begrudge someone like Scott or Lucci or so many others knowing the amount of time they have to give and have given over the years. The times that they have been front burner they don't even go home and rest like we do. They go home and learn lines for the next day of work.

It's tricky, because it's all about elasticity. Hockey players make more than teachers. But then, there is more demand for teachers, and only few are truly professional hockey players. I do believe that some workers should be given more than they earn though.

They could always write Ashley out again. I'm still not entirely sure why she had to come back. I think this story would have worked better with Sabrina.

I think the current economic downturn has hardened opinions, but there's also the PR angle. ABC failed miserably at PR in how they handled firing their vets, especially Anna Lee. Whether it's something Y&R has been involved in shaping or not every recent departure or almost departure has been framed in a way which invites people to see the actors as selfish, or greedy.

Trish Stewart got a primetime show(Salvage1with Andy Griffith which did OK in a limited run then flopped when it returned. She then disappeared from view. When she returned for Victor&Nikki's wedding she had gained a lot of weight.

Am I correct in remembering that Maeve Kinkaid had some sort of sexual harrassment claim brought against Rauch in the AW days?

Also,I remember Dicksons name being mentioned for the Maria Roberts role on OLTL

Pretty much.

Have you seen MTS's clothes, hair and make-up on the show? When I saw her at Kay's wedding the first thing I thought was "OMG, TPTB want to drive this woman crazy".

Yes, a friend told me about this. Rauch made her life hellish on AW and then she ended up stuck with him at GL. I always thought she left GL to get away from Rauch.

Rauch was responsible for how GL treated Michael Zaslow when he got sick. He also treated Lisa Brown badly.

Yes, but it's led to death by a thousand cuts for ABC. The market seems to favor management, but at the same time, the shows that have operated this way are down in ratings a lot more than Y&R and B&B too. The question is how far can you cut before you reach that critical point where viewers leave in droves? GH definitely hit it at some point, but I can't say where exactly. At some point that show became hard to recognize.

Do I care that Jess Walton QUIT the show (after some were covering saying she was fracking ill), and later said nope I need the money and returned? Let me get this straight, if someone was trying to lowball you and screw you around, why should you gleefully accept? You shouldn't just give in to the higheups that's how they F.U.C.K around with people, when they know that you will always cave into their demands. That last part isn't in response to Jess, I like her.

All I care about is that once again Mel Scott is being screwed around by the higher ups, and her cast mates (like the nameless bi.tch who is an "EX" co-star mind you, talking about shi.t that should be irrelevant to them) still show no respect. For the past three fricking years this woman has carried the show, and now these people want to play around. For me it's not about the money, but rather the blatant lack of respect.

Amen. I totally love this post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
