I HATE THIS STORYLINE...for the simple fact that I can't stand how the characters are treating Adam, and like his death is no big deal. I thought I would at least get some Erica payoff, but nope now shes a suspect (even though we know she would never do it). But all we get is Colby's poorly acted reaction.

This makes me miss Skye & Haley even more, "Adam" deserved more than this...its just so disrepsectful to his legacy and everything he has been to this show. Even when Adam was bad, he was never a some cartoon villan everyone wanted to kill. And the reason people have for killing him are ridiculous.

Krystal dumbass lies catching up with her, I see no reason to kill.

David not seeing little Adam (umm David this is exactly what you were trying to do to Adam and JR months ago)

Zach & Kendall (fine...they actually have a reason)

JR (Adam not being nice to you, whats new, maybe if you weren't a drunken loser and treated Adam like he was actually your father, he would treat you better)

Annie (love her, but WTF...)

Tad (COME ON...you have no more proof then you had weeks ago that Adam killed Dixie..but then again you did kill Greg Madden, so lets ruin your character more)

Liza (if she was there...you got nothing...like killing Colbys dad would help you get closer to her)

Erica (would never kill adam..EVER)

Its the nurse...it is so her, Pratt is not dumb enough to have any of the above kill Stuart. Its too contrived, and makes no sense.

Yeah, today was a bit anti-climatic. The episode was okay, but I thought it would be more gripping (since Friday's show was so awesome). I have to give kudos to Jill Larson; I thought she was fantastic after Tad got shot. I liked Erica popping up during the last 20 minutes. Yes, those were her legs! hehe! The ''actress'' playing Colby should have been fired yesterday. Seriously--how does she stay on?

I think they're probably settling for Moncrief out of fear that recasting the role again would further alienate the audience from the character. I strongly disagree and I think torturing us for much longer with this person in the role would just be delaying the inevitable. It's a shame Colby wasn't felled by the bullet instead.

I agree with Ms. Chandler Quartermaine. This murder mystery is VERY hard for me to connect with, because I don't see any of these suspects actually murdering anyone. Maybe Zach, because he shot Josh in cold blood on-screen. But days ago, with David holding a scalpel to Adam's throat and telling him he would cut his throat right there in a crowded hospital and kill him if Marissa WAS his daughter? It absolutely made no earthly sense. And David grabbing Krystal firmly by the arms and Krystal urging him to kill her because she deserved it. Are we REALLY that close to the edge in Pine Valley that there are threats of death and malice in every episode? None of them are properly motivated, so I just don't get it.

Motivations have been slapped together quicker than Liza can orgasm, with the Ian heart valve thing just coming out of nowhere and the random and sudden "twist" of Adam POSSIBLY killing Dixie to motivate Tad and JR. And Kendall and Zach go out to kill Adam because they THINK Ian died, when he actually didn't? It smells of desperation to attach the show's "money" couple to the umbrella story murder mystery, without sacrificing their child to PROPERLY motivate them to commit murder. When none of your suspects make logical sense, your victim isn't even clear in the first episode post-murder, your mystery sucks. The police are inept (I see Guza's influence on Pratt) and can't keep 17 people from bulldozing their way into the crime scene and compromising it by chewing all the scenery, and getting knocked out by the likes of Ryan Lavery, serial policeman-attacker. Because he's wearing a suit, they assume he's Adam? Does anyone remember he has a twin? Wouldn't Scott be more affected to see someone that looks exactly LIKE his father lying dead on the floor? Would Scott want to be sure it WASN'T Stuart? He was throwing "Adam's" death in JR's face within two minutes of seeing the body.

The visual execution of it all has been interesting, to say the least, so kudos to the directing and editing teams, but the writing is just off the wall ridiculous.

This has been one of AMC's biggest problems for years now.

Adam is EVUL!!!!!

Why??

This worked when Adam was a wicked man whose only real love was for his twin brother Stuart, who was locking Dixie up in the nuthouse to steal her child, who was cheating on his infertile wife Brooke, or in that horrible sperm story where he impregnated Liza without her knowledge.

When Adam began to be presented as a loving father to his kids, as someone who genuinely loved Krystal, and as the "good" characters in the story like Tad or JR or Babe or Krystal were so nasty and self-righteous, the writing fell apart.

This story is like others have said, very strong visually, but I think it's a very hollow story, because, like most of the other stories over the years, and especially Pratt's stories, it's all about characters being plot points, not about any emotional resonance or anything to make us feel invested. I can't get invested in any story with monsters like Zach or Tad or pathetic characters like what's become of Kendall or Krystal or JR as our points of outrage. They also go for the stunt and not the followthrough, just like they did with Josh being murdered.

Yes, the directing and editing has been interesing the past two episodes. That's all I can really give them for this thing they smoked together. That, and Canary was awesome on Friday and as somebody else in this thread pointed out - Jill Larson stepped up today, I thought she sucked the other day so that was a nice surprise.

I was relieved they put a shot through the window having read the North script, because part of me thought they weren't going to give that much follow through.

Maybe it will get better as it goes on. Maybe it won't.

    • I remember when the whole Missy Reeves controversy started in 2012.  She tweeted support of a business that had made homophobic statements. Greg Rikaart (who was on Y&R back then) publicly called her out on it, but was willing to reach out and speak with her. Article here: https://greginhollywood.com/greg-rikaart-talks-about-his-twitter-war-with-fellow-soap-star-melissa-reeves-over-anti-gay-chick-fil-a-73139 That being said, ten years later, on DAYS, in 2022, when they had they double wedding of Leo/CraigWesley and Gwen/Xander, Jack and Jennifer came to the wedding.  At that time, Missy Reeves was only intermittently available for DAYS. Jennifer was living "in Boston" and Cady McClain and Missy were each intermittently appearing as Jennifer, on the specific occasions when the show required a Jennifer to appear. Missy wasn't on contract and she could have said no. But she chose to appear as Jennifer for the gay wedding of Greg Rikaart's character.   So... I mean... I would assume they reached a détente behind-the-scenes. Missy still has her belief system but there's that.
    • That was one of the best grandslam finals.  Alcaraz comes all the way back down 2 sets to 0, and three match points in the 3rd set, to win it in a 5th set tie-break.  And the quality of play was excellent - so many great shots.  What a battle!
    • Indeed. I may try to watch it in full sometime, but not anytime soon... Mark played Sean Baxter for a few episodes when Courtney married Andy. Burke was either on Broadway or at OLTL at that time, I suppose.
    • Well, Josh was a horndog. LOL Yep. It was one of the first really weird things Reva did with her PPD. She became obsessed with the idea that Dylan and Sam should get married. Sam was only 17, and needed her parent's permission. Reva helped them leave town so they could go to a neighboring state where Sam was old enough. Ross, Billy and Josh stopped them, then Sam went to India to try and persaude Justin. Reva followed her and didn't tell Josh she was going. While Reva was gone, Josh advertised for nannies, and Harley applied. He ended up hiring someone else. But when Reva returned, she hired Harley because (in her weird mental state) she wanted someone she could trust with the kids (because she feared Josh was trying to get rid of her and that Vanessa wanted the children.). After Reva starts treatment, she asks Harley to stay until she's stronger because she's good with the kids. At the party, Reva starts going off the rails, insulting Justin and Josh hauls her to a private dining room to ask WTF. Reva starts confronting him about the "affair" with Vanessa, and he realizes she is weird. He locks her in the dining room and frees Mindy and Van from the ladies room (where Reva has locked them in). Van starts telling him that Reva attacked her and needs help.  Reva escapes out the window of the dining room and goes back to the party, climbs onto a table and starts a striptease. Josh gets her to stop, takes her home and after filling Ed in, decides to go to the doctor the next day. Reva then takes off and spends days running around town, coming on to a guy she thinks is Billy, Billy, Hamp, Frank and Roger.  Roger takes her to his apartment and takes nude pictures of her, which he tries to blackmail Billy with. He wants the deed to the land the Towers is on in exchange for them. (Billy had been left the deed by a sweet old lady who lost her home in the 5th street fire. Roger had stolen the deed from her before she died. After Roger took those pics of Reva, she saw him hide them, and took an envelope from the hiding place. She didn't realize she'd taken the deed and not the pictures.)  Anyway, Billy and Vanessa trick Roger into burning the pictures, claim the deed and at the Towers opening reveal that Billy owns the land and therefore the Towers. That's what led to Roger and Alex's breakup and Roger and Mindy's affair. Mark Lewis was on ATWT? 1986 is not a good year, storywise. No bueno. Muy no bueno.
    • All the time they spent trying to make viewers feel sorry for Chad only for him to not even last that long. I wonder if they knew Richard Burgi was going so quickly. You're right about Josie replacing Cheryl. On paper, this should have made sense, given all the ties Josie had to the canvas, but I did prefer Cheryl. There was something very synthetic about Alexandra Wilson.  I suppose even if she did have some fans they were just so used to getting rid of people left and right, so she was more collateral damage. As you said above I do wonder what the plans were for Peggy Lazarus. I think AWHP mentioned her once telling Peter that Peggy Lazarus wasn't her real name. Maybe she would have been another Carl moll... Rebecca Hollen never did get her due in her soap roles.
    • So true...Hackney might have had a story on FC with Richard being an old lover of his, but reveals herself to be a Cartel member and blackmails Richard with something into doing her dirty work  LOL. But of course Richard had his hands full with the double trouble sisters Ms. Jones and Ms. Braxton that season.

    • Cat herself will be a stumbling block all her own as she vowed to Chad to stay away from him, thus redeeming her of her crime morally. Classic DAYS would have them gazing longingly at each other at Doug's Place or Blondie's, while Liz is serenading the room with a song aptly chosen to represent their feelings of emotional turmoil.
    • From what I just recently watched, they were setting her up to go into future stories. She was Emmy nomination worthy in the material I saw. If some viewers did not like her, the character could have been rehabilitated after that sick storyline. It feels like they destroyed a character for fun and then tossed her to the curb. Spencer had chemistry with everyone. I'm just retroactively angry on Spencer's behalf.  You're right about how Cheryl was often forgotten and pushed aside and I would take Cheryl over Josie. I think soaps need characters like Cheryl. Characters like Josie are way too common. Josie always got on my nerves.
    • CBS was back in third place in 1994/95. That was the season CBS lost NFL broadcasting rights which also cost them several established affiliates in major media markets. 1995 CBS was sold to Westinghouse and Les Moonves arrived. 1995/96 CBS was trying to be young and cool to compete with NBC and Fox, but it was an epic failure and CBS was once again in third place.
