May 15, 200916 yr Member http://www.tvguidemagazine.com/soaps/dayti...react-1123.html GH's Anthony Geary (Luke)“This nomination means a lot to me. In fact, the older I get the more these things mean. It says I’m still in the game, you know? This old dog may not learn new tricks but every once in a while he does a variation on an old one, and it still catches some attention. The Emmys have always meant a lot to me because back when I started in this mess — pardon me, this business — we were really looked down on and I always looked to the Emmys to kind of validate the hard work we all do. I still feel that way. And because I’m an old man now it’s very gratifying to still feel relevant. I feel blessed and more than a little surprised. This has been a fantastic job. Over the past few years I’ve found a peace doing GH that I certainly didn’t have 10 or 15 years ago, during the Wendy Riche reign of terror. They constantly challenge me, and they keep bringing in great new talent. It’s always exciting to work with the veterans, like Jane Elliot [Tracy], who keeps me sane, but also the young ones like Julie Berman [Lulu] and this new kid Nathan Parsons [Ethan]. They haven’t stuck me with any dogs. I got no complaints. I’m not even sure how any of this happened. I must have a guardian angel or something, because I so easily could have self-destructed back in the heyday of Luke & Laura and several other points along the line. I’ve been through periods where nobody seemed to get Luke, or like him. And now, I guess, something about him being this age makes him accessible again. I’m running on inertia now.” This makes me sick, say what you want about Riche, but at least she tried to give GH as much integrity as possible and Guza was only ever tolerable when she was there to control him. I can't believe Geary thinks GH is better now than it was during the Riche era.
May 15, 200916 yr Member It feels like he just threw in that dig because it had almost nothing to do with anything else he was talking about.
May 15, 200916 yr Member OMFG! What an ass. Wendy Riche's reign of terror? Geary was the one running around punching headwriters! General Hospital was damn lucky to have Wendy Riche and if she was re-hired tomorrow as EP and Geary quit it would be an absolute net gain.
May 15, 200916 yr Member This is why children should never read the depositions from their parents divorce.
May 15, 200916 yr Member The only reason he thinks this is because Guza sucks.his.ass. Where are the pictures?? What's next Don Hastings bashes Douglas Marland??
May 15, 200916 yr Author Member GH or all the soaps for that matter could use a Wendy Riche right now. I wish she'd return to daytime, she had her faults, but I always believed she really cared and I knew she worked damn hard.
May 15, 200916 yr Member Id love for Geary to stop acting and move to behind the scenes in a writer/producer capacity. He's been with the show so long and knows the history in and out. He also raves about Monty all the time. I think Geary as a Producer would fix everything that is wrong with GH.
May 15, 200916 yr Member Geary sucks. He hates soap opera, the traditional aspects of it anyway. Plus, he is a terribly overrated actor and doesn't deserve nearly ANY of the praise and awards he has gotten. DEATH TO LUKE!!!!
May 15, 200916 yr Member Geez. How the <bleep> is Geary so disconnected from how so many other fans view the 'new luke'. A challenge? Um, ok, but Luke SUCKS for me, now. I don't find Luke interesting or fun any more. He's just craven and self-indulgent. He's cruel and unlikable. I'm just so stunned that Geary likes the writing for his character. I know he probably didn't intend to leave Greg Vaughn off the list, but as Luke trashes and discounts the 'cowboy', it's just noticable that Geary mentioned Parsons but not Vaughn, specifically. He seems to think that 'Ehtan' is giving Luke his edge back. I'm finally looking forward to Luke taking his semi-annual extended vacation.
May 15, 200916 yr Administrator He's cruel and unlikable. I'm just so stunned that Geary likes the writing for his character. That's because Guza and Geary share the same vision for Luke. Luke is such a horrible character now. Oh I think it was intentional that he left off Vaughn. Man, I used to root for Geary all the time when it came to the Emmys but I can't just do it anymore. Luke sucks and Geary lets it happen.
May 15, 200916 yr Member Geary is and always will be a pompous jackass. NO respect for him anymore, NONE!
May 15, 200916 yr Member Tony has officially lost the plot. That's because Guza and Geary share the same vision for Luke. Luke is such a horrible character now.
