Members Adam Posted May 11, 2009 Members Share Posted May 11, 2009 I personally can take or leave Melody Thomas Scott/Nikki on some days, but I am not naive to the fact she is an integral part of Y&R. Victor and Nikki whether some like it or not is something this show has revolved around for the better part of the past 30 years. Losing MTS would be a huge blow! And MTS has always given her utmost. Seeing her character phased out has been hard to watch. Whatever happens I hope Melody comes out well in this. I guess Paul and Nikki will just walk out into the sunset. I'm really sad. I'd like to see them double her guarantee (even at a low rate of pay) so we see more of her while she keeps her overall rate of pay pretty similar. Susan fuckin' Lucci had to take a heafty pay cut, if MTS thinks she's above that, then that's her problem. She can't keep on making the same type of money she made when soaps were at their peak, it's indeed a different day. I want MTS to stay and I want a deal that's fair, but let's say she refuses any sort of cut, then I have very little sympathy for her. And I do not buy that this sexist agenda. We usually only see Nikki with Katherine, or more often, when it's time for Victor to browbeat her. A sad way to usher out a character who was critically important to making and keeping Y&R the #1 soap, and this is also one of the main reasons my opinion of Victor has taken a big hit over the past year.
