I don't think Y&R has become like DAYS, but I do think this team needs to get back to simple, quiet, character-driven drama (w/ sexual entanglements you can sink your teeth into, of course, lol).

I can't remember how many times Y&R has ever brought back someone we were supposed to believe was dead. We knew all along that Sheila and Victor weren't dead when the others thought they were dead. I also wouldn't could Nick, as that was up in the air.

Well, I'd choose; unfortunately, I'm busy right now trying to pull myself out of this plot-hole. Let me tell you, it's a mother! ;)

The difference is that the characters thought they were dead, but the audience was privy to exactly the opposite. There was no actual death, just a supposed one. I don't mind those returns at all--but when we see someone die (which is still disputable in this case), then we have a problem and credibility starts being pushed.

Exactly. Either choice is just...

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd almost swear Phillip's death happened off-screen. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, SOD complained several years ago how this marred what was otherwise a touching and affecting story.

Your points are stunning. The baby-switch storyline really makes this whole thing dicey. Did Kay not switch the babies and dream it (oh dear!). I agree with whomever said it would be easy to expose Cane as a fraud but very hard to resurrect him. Yet i also agree that if TB is returning, then he should play P3. Gosh - I guess i owe Jillian Bowean apology - she said something roof-ripping would happen May sweeps and homegirl was not lying.

Hey, what about Paul's father, Carl? Granted, he didn't so much "die" as stop appearing; nonetheless, Mary and Paul were shocked when "Jim" re-entered their lives.

Didn't he explain he was in an off-screen accident, was thrown off the car or something and woke up with no memories?

But Phillip probably died in the hospital. Otherwise, they would have mentioned that they never found a body or something... Unless naughty William J. Bell was keeping his options open, just in case he wanted to bring Phillip back...

Honestly? I'd go with that. That whole "storyline" made even less sense than Kay-is-Jill's-mother. Kay was just drunk and hallucinating? Fine with me. It's not like I ever trusted that phony, Sylvia Browne, on "Montel" anyway.

The thing about Days that I always had to laugh at. It was like this ongoing joke kind of like they never took themselves too seriously. Anyway I love this stuff done by a good and balanced writer on classic Days but on Y&R I don't know, I just don't know.

As a viewer I'll watch it unfold with my fingers crossed that I don't feel compelled to change the channel. I know everyone else is excited fortunately or me I came after Phillip therefore I only caught him in flashbacks, old articles and youtube so I don't have much vested so I am looking at this beyond all euphoric reminisces.

Thanks. I miss the private dining room scenes. I always thought that was so elegant when I was a kid. In retrospect, I suppose it saved the cost of extras. ^_^

Yeah, this show needs more passion. Sharon and her many men really doesn't do it for me, since she's losing her mind.

    • I find Missy Reeve's views offensive and I don't want to defend her, but I don't think she ever said anything publicly about Days "gay content".   In fact, I don't think she's ever said anything negative about Days at all.  There's no indication Missy is difficult or unprofessional on set-except for the whole affair thing years ago lol-but that's a whole different topic. I can dislike Missy as a person and still think she's the perfect fit for Jen.  Cady tried and it didn't work for me.  Whenever Missy steps into the role it works.  It's a two things can be true situation.  Missy has some bad opinions, but she's great at playing Jennifer.
    • Doesn't the funeral go into Tuesday
    • Christian Streaty wrote her second freelance script today on Days. Surprised they gave the first funeral episode to a newbie.
    • And the third thing, which I have no cite for, and I may look to see if one is findable, but supposedly she said that the show had too much gay content in it. And, to be fair, that could be someone making a criticism about balance & not be bigotry but when it's added to the other, that's why it bugs people.

The greatest tv series season finale in history.
    • Mick Savage was sooo unbearable. And more unbearable was the reaction from the female characters to him - they were acting like he is God's gift to women and sooo irresistible. To a point of unbelievable cringe.
    • Today was a short one. Only 33 minutes.  The ‘Part One’ graphic at the beginning was pretty interesting though. I didn’t expect them to do something like that.  I like how everything was focused around John and his family and friends. Again, the acting and the dialogue was very well done and well written. And I love that they were able to incorporate Drake’s, “swing for the fences” phrase into the script. It was nice seeing everyone interact with each other, especially characters who don’t often share scenes together. It felt like every character was part of a big family or community. Plus, an outdoor funeral in June makes a lot more sense than an outdoor funeral in December.  But yeah, it’s very, very strange that Will isn’t at the funeral, especially since we know that

I would much rather he had been there today. And, where’s Anna too? And Jack and Jennifer? What was the point of bringing them all back if they weren’t going to attend the funeral? I expected Steve to want to close down BlackPatch, though I’d rather he just retire and let Paul take it over. But I like that Kayla was there to comfort him. I wonder if he’s going to change his mind at some point.  It was nice seeing Shane again too. Now, he just needs to have more scenes with his son lol but I enjoyed seeing him comfort Marlena. I’m not really sure about his interaction with Cat though? Was it really necessary for this to happen now, at John’s funeral? They could’ve waited a little longer to introduce this story arc.  Btw, was Tate bleeding from his head in his first scene with Arianna?
    • This is the coldest early June in my life. It's like it's January.

    • Now this strikes me as funny. I have it up on my acct. The thing is I only have S2. Didn't want either 1 or 3.  Perhaps I should just list all of these that I have up.  Parodies: Dirty Sexy Money, Filthy Rich Incomplete: The Monroes, All That Glitters, Falcon Crest (have all just not all up), Once & Again S2 only Complete: Models Inc, Pasadena, Pacific Palisades, Paper Dolls, Flamingo Road
